  8. Twins Out Of Running For Beltre By Coley Ward [July 19 at 7:51pm CST] La Velle E. Neal III of Twins Insider is reporting that the Twins are bowing out of the Adrian Beltre sweepstakes. The price for Beltre, rumored to be similar to what the Phillies gave up for Joe Blanton, was just too high. Neal says: In the Twins’ case, it could mean one of their four young starters plus a couple prospects. Beltre is scheduled to make $12 million next season and any team that trades for the third baseman would have to pay that. Just how much is Beltre worth? USS Mariner tackled that question in depth last September. Their findings might surprise you. Coley Ward writes for Umpbump.com and can be reached here.
  9. Street To Brewers Could Be Done Deal By Coley Ward [July 19 at 7:21pm CST] Brewers beat writer Tom Haudricourt thinks Oakland closer Huston Street is Milwaukee-bound. He says the word on the street is outfielder Darren Ford, 22, is the price. Ford was pulled from Brevard County's lineup before its game against Clearwater. Says Haudricourt: The fact that Ford was pulled from the lineup makes me believe something could be up. He has no injury that I know of. Baseball America did not list Ford among the Brewers' top 10 prospects before this season, but he was named the organization's fastest baserunner and best defensive outfielder. So far this year in the Florida State League, Ford is hitting .232 with a .321 OBP and a .307 SLG. He's got 44 steals in 87 games. Coley Ward writes for Umpbump.com. You can reach him here.
  10. Detoilet lost as well....
  11. A reciever I wouldn't mind the Bears looking at is Charles Rogers....kind of made of glass but the kid has tons of talent. As far as I know he isn't signed with anyone as of yet. IIRC he just got off a drug suspension as well...mary jane if memory serves. He would quickly become the best reciever on this team IMO.
  12. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 05:00 PM) between that and eraserhead, it seems you dig exclusively dark movies may also recommend Man Who Wasnt There, Blood Simple, Dead Man Dead Man...is that the one with Johnny Depp?? If so that was pretty wild.
  13. Evil = "I am a heartless bastard" my wifes words. Jester = Because I don't take anything serious and am always goofing around. 99 = Wayne Gretzky
  14. I have a hard time believing that LA would trade Kopitar for that small of a deal. I would love it if they did but no chance. IMO
  15. ***UPDATE (4:10) Despite speculation indicating the deal had fallen through, talks continue. The deal is still very much in the works. One can only assume that this is the most complicated trade in the history of the NHL based on the amount of effort being put into it. Perhaps not, but regardless...patience Sens fans, something is in the works here.*** http://senschirp.blogspot.com/ To me this is sounding more and more like a mess.
  16. Seen this from Stuy.... "I just heard from a source (a good one) NHL rejected the deal. I have no other info. Speculation is the cap numbers didn't work. LA and Sens are pissed."
  17. Supposedly Kevin Lee, who is the rumor blogger for Ek's site. He states that he has heard the Hawks have traded Barker for Neil....he says more info to come. This should be a wait and see situation. Kopitar is a stud, I would love to get him but I am not crazy about dealing Seabrook.
  18. Seen this on Spectors.... Is a three-way deal involving the Senators, Blackhawks and Kings in the works? Are the Wild working on re-signing Marian Gaborik? Will Jeff O'Neill make a comeback? Check out the latest. OTTAWA SUN: Don Brennan reports "a hot rumour in NHL circles" has the Senators, Chicago Blackhawks and LA Kings on the verge of a blockbuster deal, which would see G Martin Gerber and D Andrej Meszaros shipping to the Kings, F Anze Kopitar dealt to the Blackhawks and G Nikolai Khabibulin and either D Brent Seabrook or Cam Barker moved to the Senators. SPECTOR'S NOTE: While I'll always acknowledge that anything is possible (like, say, the existence of the Loch Ness Monster or that angry monkey in my closet...oh, wait, that was a Family Guy episode..) a little calm analysis is in order here. First, this rumor has been floating around the internet for several days before it hit the media. Second, deals of this magnitude are never leaked. Look at the last significant off-season three-way deal two years ago, which also involved the Senators and Blackhawks and a California-based team (San Jose) which sent Martin Havlat to Chicago. Nobody, not even so-called "insiders", saw it coming. Third, this deal sucks for the Kings, moving their best forward (and perhaps future franchise player) for an overpaid average goalie and a young defenseman which they've already got in abundance. At least the 'Khabibulin to the Kings" rumors made sense in that Khabby is an experienced starter. If Kings GM Dean Lombardi dreams of accepting that weak package for arguably the best young superstar forward no one outside of LA has heard about he'd better wake up and apologize. So, the Kings lose, the 'Hawks win big time at forward but could potentially lose a good young blueliner in the process and the Sens potentially do okay in the short and long term. Sorry, doesn't make sense to me. I realize the Blackhawks have to dump salary, and Khabibulin is the obvious choice, and I also realize the Kings have to take on salary to get over next season's cap, and I think that's what is fueling this rumor, along with the Senators weakness in goal and the uncertainty over Meszaros' contract status. Finally, if this has been kicking around in NHL circles surely there'd be new about it in the Chicago and LA media, but as of this writing not a peep.Something of this magnitude being kicked around the league surely would've attracted the attention of the hockey beat writers in those cities but they've had nothing on this. I'm not shooting the messenger here, Brennan's merely reporting a rumor he's heard, but it appears at this point a localized one. Hey, maybe this deal will go down, stranger things have happened, but color me very skeptical at this point.
  19. I seen this on Stuy's board...... And there's this guess from his 'This just in update" The Names I am hearing include these... Sens get: Khabibulin,Barker and Sharp Kings get: Gerber, Seabrook and Neil or Vermette Hawks get: Ersberg,Preissing ,O'Sullivan and Vermette or Neil Lot of fan jerseys would be gone. Khabby, Sharp , Seabs and Barker for Ersberg, Preissing ,O'Sullivan and Vermette or Neil
  20. $4.29 in Joliet
  21. Excellent news there. Now if the Bears can get Simms this will be pretty decent thus far.
  22. Thanks for the BDay wishes all!
  23. That makes me happy is Jones does sign here. As stated above if he can stay healthy it will give the Bears a legit running game.
  24. Hawks just signed Doug Janik.....http://nhlpa.com/WebStats/PlayerBiography.asp?ID=7199 Makes me think even more a deal is in the works....why keep loading up with 6th and 7th Dmen? Al Cimaglia Is Something Cooking ??? July 15, 2008, 3:11 PM ET [33 Comments] This news has not been substantiated through a press release yet, but it appears the Hawks have signed two defensemen. The first is Doug Janik, a 28 year old defender who played for the Lightning last season and was an UFA. The other defenseman is Aaron Johnson who is 25 years old and played 30 games for the Islanders last season. I show Johnson listed as a RFA although I do not know any other details at this time involving this transaction. Both players earned $475,000 last year. Both players shoot left and could be coming to Chicago as a precursor to a trade of another defenseman. Cam Barker is another left hander shooter from the Blue Line...hnmm....
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 06:34 PM) I wonder if its a three team deal and will involve Khaby? I would be shocked if Habby isn't involved in this deal....if it ever happens. Yes its suppose to be a 3 way deal.
