QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) Dirk is clearly hurting, but the rest of the team is stepping up. Lets see if Lebron/Wade fall in love with iso to end the game. No ball movement whatsoever these last five minutes. This is the Heat offense from back in March.

lmao@the Heat. Their offense has just flat-lined.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) Dallas will win tonight and gain home court advantage. I hope so. Their offense looks real crisp tonight.

LeBron/Wade are simply unstoppable now. Whatever problems they had earlier in the year are a thing of the past.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) Will the Sox pick on day one (June 6th) or with the 47th pick do they wait until day 2 (June 7th)? The first and compensation rounds take place on day one. So yes, they'll be making their 47th pick Monday.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) 1-0 Indians. man this team scores runs with such ease. I noticed Matt LaPorta is finally showing why he was so highly regarded and the prize in the Sabathia deal. That's all we need.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) And to think he only has 1 MVP award, that´s insane. Pathetic and disgusting are the words that come to mind for me. He probably should've won it in '98 (yes, over Jordan). But he missed 22 games and there was no way MJ wasn't getting it in what many believed would be his last year. Definitely should've won it in '01 over Iverson's inefficient, chucking ass. Had a good case for '05 (Believe he finished 2nd to Nash).

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) I thought there would be a lot of discussion in here about Shaq retiring, but I guess in many people's minds his career has been over for a few years. He has had a pretty significant effect on not only pro basketball, but pop culture as well. SHAQ + WU TANG haha: Shaq's been pretty insignificant for at least 3 years. Especially the last two. Clearly a case of a guy that doesn't know when it's time to let go. And there was a decent article on Yahoo! talking about it wouldn't be surprising at all if Shaq were to attempt a comeback later in the season next year (assuming there is one). With that said, he's a top 3 C and top 10 player overall. His peak of '98 through '02 was as good a peak as I've seen besides you know who.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) He's not going to average 25 a game playing with Rose. He took 22 shots per game last year and 20 per game this year to get those points. No one else on the Warriors took even 15 shots per game this past year. Their pace also helps as the Warriors got 4 more possessions per game than the Bulls did this year. Someone that doesn't need the ball in their hands to produce points would be a much better fit. Someone like Kevin Martin (Martin idea is a registered trademark of Steve9347 INC) or Danny Granger that can hit open shots. Martin and Granger both only took 16 shots per game last year, and their efficiency could go up a lot with more open jumpers create by Rose. Ellis wouldn't benefit from that nearly as much as he's not a good jump-shooter and relies on the drive like Rose. Someone like Ellis that relies on the drive and an iffy jumper simply isn't going to be as efficient playing with a similar player. It works with Lebron and Wade because they're both high efficiency players that are capable of scoring 30 PPG on a season. Neither Rose nor Ellis fits that category yet. I don't think Ellis would necessarily be the best fit. All I know is I want an offensive minded 2-guard as my starter. I can't go through another year of Keith Bogans. If Ellis were available, and I don't think he is, and there's no better fit, I'm game. Rose and Ellis, along with Thibbs, would just have to work it out.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) What I fully expect. It's worse than being terrible, so it'll happen. I'll puke every day for the entire offseason if they win 80-83 games (no top 10-15 pick) and miss the playoffs. Then people will be like, "well, this team started 11-22 and they still won 83 games. 2012 should only get better."

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) Or Gordon, or Alvarez. Yeah, but a catcher of that caliber is the most difficult to come by. And they had no catching prospects worth a damn then or now. Some of it's hindsight. The other part is just a f*** up.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) Well the tip of the iceberg is already in full view. Hosmer might be my new Cargo. Aaron Crow is filthy (though he blew a save a few days ago).

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) Seriously though, if you watched that game, he looked genuinely touched by the ovation prior to destroying that ball. I'm sure he was. How could he not have been? But I don't buy for a second his reasoning for those being his most memorable HRs. Frank hasn't changed that much. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 08:34 AM) Who we face on the home stand: Tigers- Oliver, Verlander, Penny Mariners- Pineda, Hernandez, Vargas A's- Cahill, Gonzalez, Anderson, Outman Sign me up for 6-4 now, I'll take it. 5 lefties, plus Verlander, Pineda, Felix, and Cahill...good luck, Dunner. Damn, I was feeling fairly good until you posted this.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) Almost everyone we'd be considering would require us to have someone like Bogans/Brewer left over as a defensive sub. Hell, with Rose on the team, we'd want that anyway. Of course, if we're looking at how the **** we get past the Heat...this really is the critical flaw, because you can't go for offense and wind up with Wade torching you. Wade has no equal at his position. Not even Kobe. It's fruitless in trying to find the perfect 2-guard to match-up with him. But give me the ultra-athletic, consistent 25 PPG scorer that at the very least has the ability to be a good defender as my starter and then go with a Brewer or defensive minded 2 as the bench guy. Not the other way around.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) The Rays are the model to follow in drafting, scouting, and development. Particularly in pitching. They just keep churning out solid to excellent arms. Their farm system was/is second only to the Royals and they will potentially leapfrog them after the draft. Bingo. People keep looking at all the top 3 picks they had when they were awful (Longoria, Price, Upton). But if you look beyond that, it's easy to see they know what the hell they're doing. The Braves are right there as well. Edit: though they royally f***ed up in taking Beckham instead of Posey in '08. Oh my goodness that team with Buster Posey for the next 10 years or so.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) I heard that interview yesterday on my way to Ride Chicago. I loved it, especially when he said the best HR were the ones in an Oakland Uni. I laughed. You know damn well the reason those were the most memorable to Frank because that was his way of saying "f*** you, KW!". -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) Alexei isn't even on the top 5 list for SS. That's tragic. The best SS in the AL is getting beat by the likes of Erick Aybar and Yunel Escobar. Not to mention Derek Jeter. Don't forget about Asdrubal Cabrera, or is he in the top 5? He and Ramirez have easily been the top two SS in the AL to this point.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) Carl Crawford +2 Picks, Rafael Soriano +2 Picks Grant Balfour +2 Picks Brad Hawpe +1 Pick Joaquin Benoit +1 Pick Randy Choate +1 Pick Chad Qualls +1 Pick First Round +1 Pick Second Round +1 Pick ___________________ = 12 Picks And they're still only 2.5 games out in that monster of a division with one of the top 3 players in the AL missing nearly 30 games.

Monta Ellis? s***, too good to be true. Other than LeBron/Wade, Ellis/Rose would be as good as it gets out on the perimeter. And unlike Gordon, Ellis is not a total defensive hack. Though he's lacking. But he's really active and athletic and could thrive under TT.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) how the hell do the Rays have 12 picks in the first 89? Do you not realize how many guys they lost to FA? And the way they draft, wow. They've got a chance to fatten up a system that's already one of the elite.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) A smile always comes to my face when I think the White Sox have Frank Thomas and his status/legend seems to get stronger each year while the cubs have to accept the shenanigans of sammy sosa and look back at those years and that goofball. Now the Sox have another player that seems to fill the same shoes in Paul Konerko. To think over the last 30 year the White Sox have had as the face of their franchise Carlton Fisk Frank Thomas Paul Konerko Three hard nosed professions who all have flaws in their personalities but also all are players that fans should be proud to cheer for. Think you have to go with a hybrid of PK/Buehrle. There's just no way you can say Mark hasn't been a face of this franchise. -

Frank+steroids=no choice but to shut the sport down. That's how I know he didn't use. Look what those suckers did to Bonds. And Frank was one of the rare physical specimens to ever play the game. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 11:30 AM) The 2009 Ben Gordon isn't much better than the 2010 Kyle Korver. I don't know if I'd go that far. Ben at least was capable of dropping 35 on any given night. Though his efficiency has always sucked. But his defense is just too brutal. Not even TT can cover him up. DRtg (defensive rating) is a solid, if not perfect, tool of measuring individual defensive performance. In the last three years, Ben has allowed an astounding 112, 114 and 115 points per 100 possessions. That's just too much fail.
