QUOTE (chisoxt @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) It depends on what kind of package you get in return, but, Ok, so maybe you deal Quentin, Floyd or Crain instaed. The point is, you have to give up somethting to get something. Pretty much. Or pray that a Rios can turn it around at some point. But even then, he's proven to be so inconsistent and makes too much money. Then you've obviously got Danks and Jackson. The latter who will be much harder to move because he's up after this year. s*** is not looking good right now around these parts. I can honestly say that other than the Astros, no team looks to have a worse future from this point on than the White Sox do. And this didn't have to be this way. That's what's so frustrating.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Because in a rebuilding, we have to first dump the salaries. I thought my 5-6 suggestions in that order were pretty good. But if the team doesn't go 9-1 in the first 10 games with a new manager/GM when they are fired tonight or after the Boston series, you have to try to get rid of all that salary dead weight. You say nobody wants Rios/Peavy/Dunn, etc. Well why the f*** did the Sox want them? Somebody might want them. You have to dump the salary and take your lumps with the lousy minor leaguers in their place. greg, anybody could've had Peavy or Rios two years ago. KW didn't do anything special. Jerry opened up the wallet, they had some money coming off the books, and they took on the salary. We didn't get Peavy because the Padres were so enamored with the s*** package we traded them. They wanted to dump the salary. What makes you think ANY team would want him now? Through the combination of chronic injuries and poor performance? Same with Rios. Toronto couldn't stand him and they wanted to dump the salary. And do you really think anybody wants Dunn right now at $14 million a year for the next three years after this one?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) AJ might be the only one of that group that might be able to get moved and even that is unlikely. Catchers who aren't good at hitting, fielding or throwing and due to make $6 million next year aren't at a premium.

QUOTE (chisoxt @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) Trading the older vets would just be a salary dump, assuming that you can even move them. If you want to restock your farm system, sadly you have to trade your more valuable assets Huh? No. You don't trade youth for youth (though Ramirez is not young), but he plays a premium position and is pretty damn good. What do you think a rebuild is?

QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) It's too bad we didn't trade Beckham a few years ago, when people thought he was good That'd be kinda hard considering he hasn't been around a few seasons. This board would've shutdown if we had traded Gordon after '09.
-
QUOTE (chisoxt @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) You may have to. That wouldn't make sense. You trade your older, high-priced vets to get young pieces back so you can start the rebuild.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) Well then just sit back and relax and watch. It's not rocket science. We were due for a season where we were out of it in May. Let's just hope somehow this can be fixed/tweaked and the Sox aren't a s***ty team for years to come. You don't get it, greg. Everybody and their mothers knew what the stakes were going into this year. This has been a complete and total avalanche and it's not even f***ing June yet. That's about as demoralizing as it gets.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) Didn't Kenny say June 1 was the date he'd assess the team? There's a lot of pressure on him to make the right trades the rest of the year. Who will be dealt first? Who the hell on this team would anybody want? Ramirez and Santos. But you obviously don't want to trade them.

Realistic Adam Dunn expectations

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) So wait, is Dunn on pace to break the record for most K's in a season even after missing quite a few games? If anybody could do it. I know Reynolds broke it two years ago. 223 I believe. And you know Ozzie won't bench him. So it's possible. -
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) I see he really lit a fire under his team with his comments yesterday. /s Ozzie hasn't lit a fire under a damn thing in 6 years. Rick Hahn's son has done more for this organization since then.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) Why? This team deserves all the criticism/mockery you can give out. Unfortunately, the future looks so grim with not many good minor leaguers except Tank. I don't think I can take it anymore. I've got no insults or criticism left in me. I've used them all up dating back to last year's September collapse.
-
I think shack might be right. I might have to take a week off from this board.
-
lmao. Dunn is fun bad right now. Get this overweight donkey out of here. 0/38 against lefties and he just adds to his major league-leading K total at 69. And he missed like a week. It'd probably be 80 or something.
-
Wait, Bautista was removed? f***ers. I was hoping he would get to hit at least 3 more times. No reason to watch now.
-
Lucas Harrell or Carlos Torres? Wow. That is a tough one.
-
QUOTE (OilCan @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) LOL and Bieber won. I knew as soon as I typed that he would K.
-
lol
-
Harrell vs Bautista is like Bieber vs LeBron in a game of 1 on 1.
-
Man, somebody on this board last year told me that liked Harrell and thought he had a future. I wish I could remember who it was. So I could just make fun of you for an hour or so.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) Harrell fits right in on this team. He's of no major league relevance whatsoever. Don't even worry about him. John f***ed us today. The offense couldn't do s*** as Romero was clearly shaky the first few innings.
-
QUOTE (chisoxt @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) You may as well find out. This organization is at least 5 years away from being competetive again. Oh I agree. I've been had it with this group. I was just saying I can't say he's a Friedman clone yet. Which is what maggs alluded to.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) These "All-in" commercials are just hilarious to watch when the Sox suck. Wasn't the '01 motto "it's time?" No more s***ty mottos for this team. Just shut the f*** up going into next season.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:36 PM) I think he would run it completely different than KW. But you would think the Sox could go after Friedman if they wanted. He is probably desperate for the right opportunity to get out of that division. I'd change my name to Friedman4life if that happened.

QUOTE (kapzk @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) Danks i believe still has great potential. He has the stuff to be a possible #1 but I think he will be a good #2. The wheels have come off in May for Danks. He is still young and has room for improvement. He is a keeper unless some1 blows you away with an offer. I totally disagree with you that he has the stuff to be a #1. Even when he was going well I didn't even think he was a true #2 (think Hamels or Cain). #3 is what he is/was.
