  1. 30 pitches for Danks already? Jesus. Way to step up after we had to abuse the bullpen yesterday.
  2. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 29, 2011 -> 12:26 PM) so theyre going to give it to someone on a team that isnt making the playoffs? i thought it was mvp not best player That's the way it usually goes. But if he keeps this up, you have to give it to him.
  3. It's been two months. But Jose Bautista is by far and away the MVP in the AL.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) I love Carlos, but I have come to terms with the fact that he will probably never be a consistent player. What to do with you, Carlos... We won't see '08 again.
  5. f***ing direct tv made me miss Carlos' HR.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) Didn't Romero like one-hit us last year? Yup
  7. No complaints with the lineup today. Let's hope Romero doesn't have that change workin'.
  8. I was about to blast this move. But it does make sense.
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) Are you really satisfied with being an 86-win ballclub when we spend way more than everyone else and play in for the most part a second-class division? He has made the playoffs twice in those seven years. 86 wins sounds nice, but when you see the full context of the 86, it loses it impressiveness and becomes just mediocre. I will say this, his track record is at least better than KW who didn't make the playoffs the three years prior to Ozzie. So either Ozzie is no getting the best out of the clubs KW has put together, or KW is just not putting together solid, cohesive teams. This is key. If we were in the AL east, different story. s***, if we shared a division with the Phillies/Braves or the NL central with the Cardinals, that would even be different. The Royals have been awful. The Indians have been awful outside of '01, '05 and '07. The Tigers have been mediocre to awful outside of '06/'07. And we've always had more talented teams with higher payrolls than the Twins (until last year). 2/10 is simply not getting the job done.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 29, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) Id gladly take Rip on the bulls for next to nothing, dont want to pay for him though He's a backup at this point, though. 2004 was a long time ago. He's never had great range. Doesn't offer defense or any playmaking ability. Not a good fit as a starter on this team.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2011 -> 07:33 AM) Well, then you're not trading Danks So Marcum > Danks to you? Not to mention Danks has no injury history whatsoever. Consider this post nullified.
  12. Outside of using a racial slur, or something that degrades, religion, gays or mentally challenged people, Ozzie ain't goin' nowhere. I just don't see it. 2005 will live on forever. In a bad way in this case.
  13. My boy toy Brett Lawrie was 4/6 with 4 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI. Now sporting a slashline of .350/.409/.659/1.068. This is the caliber of prospect that MUST be acquired if we're to trade Danks at some point this year.
  14. Oh, and I must say I also listened to Scottie's initial interview on Jordan/LeBron. I had only read his recant on Ball Don't Lie. I can see the outrage now. Listen, Scottie has ALWAYS been jealous of MJ. This is no secret. And you can't really blame him. Scottie Pippen is synonymous with the word 'sidekick.' Who the hell wants to be known for that? I can recall Scottie saying multiple times that Kobe was a better player. Then when he came to his senses, he backpedaled. No different than what happened here. Pippen doesn't believe that for s***.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) I think it would serve some people good to step away and perhaps direct their anger and frustration to something more productive. Perhaps they could do some week whacking or work out. I'm certainly not saying people don't have the right to post their frustrations here, just making a suggestion. That's a misconception by many. I don't have "anger" over baseball. At least not at almost 28. Frustration if I feel my team is underperforming? Yes. But I don't go shooting at chickens when the Sox lose. It's really not that serious.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 29, 2011 -> 12:20 AM) Its a win-win for the Cavs and Wolves. Kanter is just what the Wolves need, and Irving-Williams is what the Cavs need. Irving-Williams-Hickson isn't a bad core to build with. Especially in the east.
  17. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 28, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) He's a good contact hitter, but that's not the part of his game that worries me. It's that he's a slap hitter that doesn't walk. Oh goodness. Well I can automatically dismiss him. Slap hitters that don't walk? No. Never again after this year, hopefully.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 28, 2011 -> 11:50 PM) You two should meet up one weekend and drink together. greg has shocked me. He's slurped guys like Wise, Jenks and said Dye was a good defender from '07-'09. I've never done that. Bad baseball is bad baseball. greg hates everybody. As much s*** as I talk, I've never blamed KW for the Dunn signing. He just sucks. No way around it.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) It's hard to believe some fans think we are still in the race. Our only hope is the wild card and that's always difficult to achieve with Tampa, Yanks, Boston. Soon the firesale will begin. We don't have what it takes. Forget the WC. That's not happening. It's happened once since, what, 2000? The WC winner is property to the AL east. Like I said, I think the Indians are good. How good? Need a little more time to gauge that.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2011 -> 11:38 PM) The wild thing is I know I have come to expect losses when we lead by a run or two late. That is pretty bad as a fan to realize my team likely will lose even with a late lead. Fire everybody and start dropping salary NOW. This team is going nowhere. The season has been over for some time now. Realize it Kenny and start firing, dumping. I believe I said June or the first week of June, I can't remember, should be the cutoff point. They have looked somewhat better. But that's not saying much. I really want to wait until the Indians hit their first slump. Where they lose 8/10 or something. And see what we do over that same time. If this were the Twins ahead of us, I'd been calling for a blowup weeks ago.
  21. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 28, 2011 -> 11:29 PM) I don't think I've ever seen a guy get hit in the face on a throw from the outfield before. Looks MUCH better. Glad he's alright. And I know this is going to sound selfish and I'll be looked at as the demon downer (I don't like Debbie). But am I the only one worried that this could bother Becks for the rest of the year? Or that it will be used as an excuse if he never recovers? I could totally see if in two weeks and Gordon is still struggling that the ball to the eye will be the culprit Walker, Ozzie, Ranger, Merkin, Hawk, etc point to.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 28, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) I know this post isn't directed at me since I have barely posted this season, but I'll defend whoever it is directed at. What else are they supposed to do? A team that is "all in" and spent a ton of money has been a miserable failure, and shows no sign of coming out of it. This management team also has no track record of coming from behind to make the playoffs ('05 we jumped way ahead, '08 was neck and neck), and that's especially depresing when you consider this team started with a record that only 3 have ever recovered from to make the playoffs. What response other than b****ing do you expect? And it's a message board. I mean what else are we supposed to talk about?
  23. Holy f***! Rip had two years left on his deal? I thought it was just one. Cavs really want Williams. And let me edit once again. I forgot they have the trade exception. Makes it look considerably less worse.
