QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 26, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) well apparently the 2011-2012 season is over, since Balta says so. I mean, what happens if the Bulls lose in one of the next 3 games, and then the Heat get their asses blitzed by Dallas? Will all of this "The heat can do nothing wrong and will sign whomever they want" talk still persist? Will you still think that the Bulls, who really only had one year under this system and this coach, will not be able to get better? It isnt doomsday balta. There will be basketball next season despite your constant proclamations that there might not be. The heat might win the championship, they might not, but that doesnt mean everyone should roll over and and accept that they cannot be beaten, players and fans alike. You can't obviously just hand the Heat the next 5 titles. I think what Balta means, and I've said this many times, that no team is set up better to, well, flat dominate for the next 5 years than the Heat are. They're a win away from the finals and they've been together for like 5 minutes. Everybody talked about how bad their supporting cast was. And again, a win away from the finals. I don't mean to sound repetitive (and I admit I have a nasty habit with that), but superstars win out in the NBA. The Bulls had Jordan. He took a break and the Rockets had Hakeem. Shaq, Kobe and Duncan have collected like every ring since 2000. Now it's the Heat.

Why not? The official "Alex Rios Sucks" Thread

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 26, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) You are assuming we shopped him and took the best offer. Do you really think KW went around to every team and said what will you give me for Brandon Allen? I think it's much more likely that KW wanted Pena and the asking price was Allen. Why is that so hard to believe? Also, I find it humerous you are using his current situation to dictate his value back then. How many prospects live up to their potential? Not many, but that's why they are prospects. You are gambling on their future. Therefore, what Allen has done lately doesn't change what scouts were projecting for him at the time of the trade. That's what his value was based upon. Are you telling me scouts thought he'd be 4A back then? Otherwise, him being a 4A player now doesn't change a thing. Wow. This post was outstanding. I mean I'm being serious. -

Holy s***. I missed this. Happy b-day to Kyle and Milk, two awesome posters. And the other guy I don't really know. lol. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 25, 2011 -> 10:11 PM) Would you look into the rest of the season? His numbers outside of rebounds are in decline, and he still cant shoot the 3 after all these years. What? Over 25 PPG on 50% shooting and a PER of 25.6. Which I believe he was tops among all shooting guards. His stats aren't going to be the same playing with LeBron and Bosh. You should know that.

QUOTE (ptatc @ May 25, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) That team was good but I think the Expos were better. I know that. That's why I said at least the Series. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ May 25, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) Wade might be coming out of his prime. He's looked terribly old this series. That's just this series. Wade is still great. I wouldn't read too much into 4 games.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 25, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Julio Franco was having a he'll of a season too. Actually that was somewhat of an off season for blackjack He was the difference. Who was it in '93? Bo Jackson and George Bell protecting Frank? Once you had to actually pitch to Frank (relatively speaking), it was curtains for the game of baseball. He was just too good. I wish Hammerhead would post more so I could read that SI quote. -
The Ghost of Jim Thome is Killing Us
Jordan4life_2007 replied to Jerksticks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The ghost of Jim Thome? That's a new one. lol. All Jim Thome did was sport a wOBA of .393 and provide 11 WAR in his time in Chicago. Which is pretty good considering he obviously didn't play the field. This offense doesn't suck because a HOF was great at what he was supposed to do. Probably cost us a playoff appearance last year in not having him. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 25, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) I'd add ball handing and finishing at the rim to that. Rose also carries his team while Wade does not. Of course he doesn't. He plays with the best player in the league. But it was just two years ago he was droppin' 30 PPG with regularity on elite efficiency. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 25, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) that is the caveat with Wade. He has always had nagging injuries as well as his major shoulder injury. that kind of stuff wears on players like him and their bodies progressively get harder to maintain. im not saying he cant do it, but Wade hits the ground hard a lot, I wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt get up without a limp one time. I agree with all of this.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 25, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) Blackjack was awesome, sad his carrer didn't turn out better, but nothingless when he was with us, he was good, had a lot of guts That '94 team was special. I know Kalapse thinks they're overrated. Hell with that. If they had finished that season out, they were at least in the Series. That team was loaded. Led by the best offensive player (that's never cheated) that I've ever seen. For that one year, anyway. -
QUOTE (G&T @ May 25, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) I'm sure you could argue that for this season, but moving forward I think Wade's decline will change that. Maybe. Guys like Dirk and Kobe (especially Dirk) are still going plenty strong at age 32. Wade just turned 29 in January. If he can stay healthy, he'll be a force for the next 4-5 years.
-
QUOTE (G&T @ May 25, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) They have one. Wade is not better than Rose anymore. Wade is clearly better to me. Only thing Rose does better is shoot free throws.

QUOTE (OilCan @ May 25, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) J4L, those WAR stats are depressing me, pal...WHERE'S MY EXTRA ZOLOFT?!? It's baffling. Dunn's wOBA: .308 (third worst among DHs). Beckham's wOBA: .284 (that's Chris Getz bad). Rios' wOBA: .266 (worst among all CFs with the required PAs). AJ's wOBA: .282 (tied for the worst among all qualified catchers). Juan Pierre: No explanation necessary. You don't need any kinda stat to recognize how bad he is. -

QUOTE (OilCan @ May 25, 2011 -> 06:17 PM) Bump. I was actually looking for the FIRE OZZIE OR FIRE KW THREADS, but this will do. It's amazing that we're only 5 games under. We're getting replacement or below replacement level production at DH, CF, LF, 2B and C. That's a lot of suckage on one team. But Greg Walker is still a great hitting coach. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 25, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) Why? The Bulls are going to be contenders every year with Rose only getting better. Yes the Heat may beat us every year but we got Rose. Yes, we have Rose. But the Heat have two better players than Rose who are in their primes. That's kind of a big deal.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 25, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Brian Anderson was a better offensive player than the version of Alex Rios the last 125 games or so, and he made nowhere near the cabbage Rios does, nor did he ever hit 5th or 6th. As I regularly say to fathom, I try my best to pretend the summer of 2009 never happened. Wow. Peavy, Pena, Rios. Give me death. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 25, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) Somebody doesn't watch Family Guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPWQVGBVXKI And for the record, StrangeSox was really, really, really correct. I actually do watch that show. I either didn't see that episode or don't remember seeing it. That clip was funny, though. Good word by StrangeSox. I didn't know what the hell it meant. I had to look it up. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 25, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) I love these pedantic arguments. J4L rule #1: Juan Pierre is to never be complimented. Even on the rare occasion he does something positive. Rule #2: Make fun of and mock Wite at all times. Rule #3: Don't use words I don't know the meaning of. I've never heard that word in my life. -
QUOTE (daa84 @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:01 PM) No doubt abotu it, Rose's struggles go way back before this series. He's just pressed way too hard, forcing way too much, trying to make too many things happen. Part of that is trying to live up to hte MVP, part of it is trying to make up for the lack of offensive support around him. He still has growing to do. He'll get there, he's just going up against 3 legit stars that are in the midst of their primes Well said. And I hoped we could overcome that. But whatever. I think we still have a bright future. Conference finals after how many years? But Luol Deng can't be our second best player and expect to win a title.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 24, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) No... I mean... I'm not really gonna read another 5 pages of "Felix is a hater" bulls***. It doesn't take much. Fair enough. My fault. I was just playing around.

QUOTE (Felix @ May 24, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) Derrick Rose in the playoffs: 140/347 (36%) shooting., 23/93 (25%) from 3. Shut up hater.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 24, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) its absurd still how much talent James has....and still doesn't use. Talent wise its not even close between he and Kobe He's one of the top 5 players I've ever seen play live. MJ, Shaq, Hakeem, Kobe and LeBron. f*** the "decision." The dude is spectacular.
-
And this is why I wanted Mayo or another playmaker. Asik is a decent BACKUP C. But that's all he is. This team was too dependent on Rose all year.
