  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 28, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) the espn article says that Chicago would be Rips likely destination What was the buyout for Rip? I don't see this anywhere. Edit. I'm stupid. Espn.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 28, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) Gilbert is trying to go crazy. Cavs/Pistons/TWolves Pistons trade Rip and the 8th to Cavs for a 2nd Rounder Cavs buyout Rip, trade 8th and 4th to TWolves for 2nd Overall and 2nd Rounder. Cavs get Irving-Williams and TWolves can snag Kanter to play alongside Love/Johnson/Beasley Damn. Love it for the Cavs and Wolves. I know the prize for the Pistons is dumping Rip.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ May 28, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) The truth is, EVERY TEAM will lose at minimum more than 1/3 of its games every year. b****ing about a loss every day that the team loses is pointless. It doesn't serve any benefit. The team doesn't improve, and it just makes the people who complain regularily seem annoying and a real drag to be around to the average poster. I can't speak for everybody else. But I didn't expect the team to challenge the 2001 Mariners. And not every team has a $125+ million dollar payroll. That can't be ignored. Otherwise we're all hypocrites for how we've bashed the Cubs the last 3-4 years. It's not so much b****ing after every loss. But for the third straight year, the team has come out like they're entitled to something. They say all the right things during the offseason. It's going to be different this year. Fundamentals and baserunning will be better. Defense will be better. This player will rebound. That player will rebound. And for the third straight year, here we are in a big hole. How do you not criticize? I mean we all get emotional and say dumb s***. Nobody can deny that. But the extreme criticism is justified. If you told me or anybody before the season started that the Twins would be damn near 20 games below .500 going into June, and we would STILL be 10 games behind the division leader (12 in the loss column), that person(s) would be banned for excessive trolling.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ May 28, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) I'd rather lose and rebuild the minors. At least then the downers will have a better reason to complain after every loss. Or we could continue with the status quo and come into every season seemingly the most talented team in the division. Then, of course, lose out to a less talented team with less resources. But then the optimists wouldn't be able to say "it's early," "they're proven," "they'll turn it around." It goes both ways.
  5. Reality has set in for the Royals. Or I guess you could say it set in a couple weeks ago. That starting pitching is beyond terrible. O'Sullivan doing his best Vin Mazzaro imitation. Looks like it's the Indians, Tigers orrrrrrrrrr The Sox
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 28, 2011 -> 06:28 PM) I'm not saying it was that 18 inning game, but whatever game against Boston that we lost in mid-2006 was when my friend Mattstradamus correctly called our doom. Got ya. Misread. And I personally think that Saturday night game in I believe late August in which we were down 7-5 going into the bottom of the 9th, facing Joe Nathan, whom if he had been any better that year he'd be Mariano, and Dye blasts that two-out, two-run moonshot to tie the game. I went nuts. That HR and Tad's slam against Houston that tied the game up when we were down 9-1 in the 7th were my favorites moments from that season. And we lost both games. Speakin' of Nathan. He's back on the DL. Yeah. I'd say me assuming the Twins were going to be just fine with Nathan and Morneau coming back turned out to be kinda wrong.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 28, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) But now only one of those has a WS title in the last several years (Florida)...this is the price we pay for that title...thinking we can do it again versus rebuilding... But at what point does a franchise realize that 2005 was over half a decade ago and the current model isn't working? That's a hypothetical.
  8. Wow! Horrible baserunning by Sean Rodriguez. Why would you try to score there where even if you did you're still down 3 with Zobrist coming up and representing the tying run? The Sox aren't the only team that goes baseball stupid.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 28, 2011 -> 05:58 PM) I know it was a game against Boston because my friend (Dbacks fan) said to me "This will be the demise of the Sox season. I'm telling you". And for almost 5 years, he has been right for the most part. But they won. lol.
  10. Indians just dropped a 4-spot on Tampa. Up 7-2 after 8. They apparently don't seem to understand they're supposed to fall apart soon, while we go on another 25-5 run. Happens every year.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 28, 2011 -> 05:21 PM) Since the middle of 2006, the Sox are 386-394 (.495). I've either been too lazy or I simply forget to look this up. So basically this franchise went on the best year and a half run in it's history, looking like they were set to go on a sustained period of excellence, fell apart after that 18 inning marathon against Boston.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 28, 2011 -> 05:29 PM) This is the 6th time this year the Sox had a lead in the 7th inning or later and lost the game. That's awful considering it's not June yet. But bad teams find ways to lose games they should win.
  13. WhiteSoxrandy owns all of Soxtalk for now. I forgot about him. lol.
  14. QUOTE (High Mileage @ May 28, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) Pretty neat... This is going to ultimately be a dumb question. But who cares. I say dumb s*** all the time. As a Royals fan, is there any combination of 5 players you would look at on the White Sox roster (minors included) and say I'll take that package for Hosmer? Because I can't come up with one. God that kid is so good.
  15. To be fair, didn't Scottie say afterwards that Michael is still the GOAT and that only LeBron could one day be the best ever? If that's what he meant, and let's for the love of the girl in my avy hope that's what he meant, I don't see a huge deal with that. Edit: Unless you're just going to forever penalize LeBron for last summer. After what he did to Boston and us, I'm not going to do that anymore.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 28, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) I wasn't wrong about Phil Humber.....but you sure were! Yeah, our two worst players going in have been two of our best. And this team still blows.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 28, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) Sox never win games like this. Floyd out of the pen was a mistake IMO. Ohman or Pena?
  18. We were also wrong about Dunn, Rios, Thornton, s***, this whole team for the most part.
  19. Lilli is juicing. I thought that was gone.
  20. Never thought I'd be thrilled to see Lilli up in this situation.
  21. QUOTE (Real @ May 28, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Don't worry, Rongey will explain it in the PGS and tell us why it was the right move "Mark Kotsay is not the reason the Sox didn't win the division last year."
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 28, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) Not according to the bottom of the page where it says who is online.... He's here. He didn't go anywhere.
