  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:05 AM) You are kidding yourself if you think that just because they go to isolation or had chemistry issues during the regular season that a team with Wade and James on it cannot close. Yup, I think too much is made of that. How many times did we hear "Get the ball to Michael, and get the f*** out of the way" or some variation of that at the end of the game? The Bulls didn't run no damn triangle the last two minutes. They had Jordan. Simple as that.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2011 -> 08:54 AM) The Heat were terrible in close games this season and weren't really all that great yesterday either. The Bulls were just worse. The Heat may have these "Great closers" but in the last 6:00 of a close game, they switch to all isolation, all the time mode. That works 30% of the time, to first order, no matter who you're dealing with. If you can score 35% of the time, and you don't commit the stupid foul Noah committed to bail them out yesterday, you win against them down the stretch because they go to all iso, all the time mode. Lebron wasn't taking great shots down the stretch. He made that one big three but missed others. He was taking contested shots. He'll make those 30% of the time, but no better. And what's wrong with that? I can see over-reliance on that throughout the whole game. But at the end of the game? They've got the two best iso players in basketball. They should take advantage of that. And is that 30% just some random number you came up with? Because the Heat had the best iso offense (i'm talking actual statistics) in the league this year.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 19, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) I feel good about the Bulls today. They really could not have played any worse and were tied with 4 minutes left to play. This, however, is why you have to build a lead on the Heat and have to avoid close games... they have two elite closers. I agree. I actually feel better about the loss than I did the win. You just knew there would be a letdown after the anal rape in Game 1. This team is still learning. Get 1 of 2 in Miami (preferably Game 3), then bring it back to Chicago. I'm straight with that.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 19, 2011 -> 12:16 AM) I'd really like to see a DH platoon of Dunn and Viciedo (LH vs. RH), and have Viciedo in LF or RF while Dunn is DHing half the time. This should give Dayan 4-5 starts a week. I don't want to see that at all. We're not paying Dunn $14 million a year to be a platoon guy.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 18, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) Wow, Joyce is beasting after his piss-poor start. ZiPS projects him to have a 20 homer year with a .380 wOBA this season. The Rays know what they're doing. And they've got a billion picks coming up in next month's draft.
  6. QUOTE (Felix @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) I think his agenda was pretty obvious when he posted for the first quarter of the first game but didn't post the rest of the game. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:22 PM) LOL, this is nothing. Browse back and look at his Game 1 comments. It's obvious he wants them to lose, he just hid it more effectively this game. I don't really care if he's a true Bulls' hater. Just admit it. Don't masquerade as a fan when you're clearly not. What's there to gain?
  7. I'll take it. If his elbow pops then so be it. For now, I'll be content.
  8. I'm not getting on Rose. He's not Jordan. The entire team sucked. The Heat played outstanding defense tonight. Just give it up and go for game 3. We weren't sweeping this series.
  9. QUOTE (Real @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) James lol, have a game Dude, I think you're a good poster. And I'm probably the second most pessimistic poster here. But it's pretty clear you want the Bulls to lose.
  10. Whatever. Give the Heat props. I know they (the bulls) can get a game in Miami.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 18, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) That's who they got for Edwin, right? Yup. So both the Dbacks and Rays got cheap/premium talent for an underachiever that's gone after this year.
  12. I've owned Ozzie since 2007. He killed me in '05 and most of '06.
  13. Matt Joyce is a beast. Rays up 5-0. This organization is amazing.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 18, 2011 -> 05:13 PM) Lol, this would be interesting to know. I wonder if anyone ignores me yet. Who really ignores people, though? I can ignore you without 'ignoring' you. I figure anybody that actually puts somebody on ignore is mentally weak.
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 18, 2011 -> 04:06 PM) So it's great to be trailing a team with a ridiculously good record rather than a pretty decent record, as they will definitely fall off. Got it. Basically what it comes down to is it's not the Twins, a proven commodity, but the Indians. So some have convinced themselves that the Indians are no good and the White Sox are destined to go on this epic run. A run they went on last year that still wasn't enough.
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) The opponenets are not the issue here. Everyone has to agree that losing 3 of 4 which would be the case is not acceptable for this team. This team has put themselves in a position where every game matters. If the goal is to get ot .500 losing the next two do not help you to do this. Winning series is fine but they need win essentially all of them the rest of the year to get to 95 wins. Another way to look at it is for them to beat the crap out of their division and play .500 ball the rest of hte way. The East and West are better than the Central so whip the s*** out of the Central and the pathetic NL schdule and go from there. Every game counts and any loss puts you on the ledge the next night. A loss last night was losing 3 of 4.
  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Venters: 8.9 k/9, 2.2 BB/9, WHIP .616, ERA+507, WAR 1.2. Incredible having him and Kimbrel at the back of the bullpen. Until Beachy went down (and he was killin' it), they didn't have any room for Julio Teheran or Mike Minor. Two of the top 10 or so consensus best prospects in the game. That's not even mentioning Delgado and Vizcaino. Nobody does internal development like the Braves. Nobody.
  18. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) Montgomery has two former 1st overall draft picks on their roster, Matt Bush and Tim Beckham. How often does that happen? Beckham can't hit anything offspeed or breaking. Tampa fans shouldn't hold their breath waiting on him to become anything. Bush on the other hand might turn out to be a decent reliever. Beckham is looking like their lone screw-up in the last five years. Besides that, no organization has been run better the last five years. How they're even in first place after all they lost at this point is beyond description.
  19. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) the career stats are enormously significant with a legit sample size too http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...=Career&t=p I guess I'd be more accepting if McPherson wasn't the alternative. But he's not young. So Ozzie automatically likes him.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 15, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) I woke up in a police station. lol. I missed this. What happened?
  21. QUOTE (Maxwell @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) I don't think its very important at all. Cleveland won't be around in the end. So its just two divisional games. This makes me feel better. Fall 12 games behind and nothing to fear. Cleveland won't be there in the end.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) Best reliever in basebell this year? I don't know about that. He's a hell of a pitcher, but there's several relievers that have had better seasons. A week or two ago there were rumblings about replacing him with Venters in the closing role. Yes, best reliever in baseball this year. At least if you believe in advance metrics. Yeah, Santos hasn't given up a run. By that definition and that definition alone he would be the best. But I don't remember anybody saying Dustin Hermanson was the best reliever in baseball in '05. Kimbrel: 14.81 K/9, 4.35 BB/9, 1.09 FIP, 1.87 xFIP, 1.0 WAR. Santos: 10.35 K/9, 4.05 BB/9, 1.98 FIP, 2.79xFIP, 0.7 WAR. And I follow Kimbrel extensively. I've got him in 3 of my fantasy leagues. They started the season with a platoon of he and Venters. But I think Kimbrel has more than shown (11 saves) that he's capable of filling the closer role.
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) If Ozzie would have stuck with Morel 2nite the other half of Sox fans would have complained he's going with his "guts" and not looking at the numbers. I think Ozzie has a good portion of blame to accept for the suck of the season so far, but I also put a good amount on the hitters who are not performing so any line-up Ozzie runs out there is questioned. I disagree. Morel was '05 World Series Crede-like in the field yesterday and hit a 3-run HR. He was hitting .187 on May 3rd. He's hitting .229 now. That's a .42 point jump in just over two weeks. Let's see if he can keep it up.
  24. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:56 PM) To be honest, it was your response to many great things Morel did last night, and you were right on across the board. This is just, laughable. Morel should be out there for his defense alone. I like Masterson. But s***. We're not talking Felix, Verlander or Scherzer here.
  25. Gamethread probably won't get more than 150 replies with the Bulls playing tonight. I ain't watching this crap.
