  1. QUOTE (hometeamfan @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) Ok....Ill just say it.....Ohman is not ready for the big leagues. Hes taking up a roster spot from someone that is. Like who?
  2. Man, y'all really need to peep Sons of Sam Horn if you get a chance. Ain't nothin' on earth funnier than pissed off Red Sox fans. They make me look like Scott Merkin. The Rangers took their asses to school. If they (Rangers) get solid/good SP, they're going to be awfully tough. Their lineup and bullpen are as good or better as any in baseball.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) Fine. Ozzie's dumb. And the Sox will not be going wire-to-wire, as the Royals just took 3 of 4 from the Angels. Dumb? No. Stubborn to a fault? Yes. But I'm not even trippin' that much about the bunt. I'm much more concerned with the middle relief. We've got three really bad pitchers in Ohman, Pena and Humber. Even the best teams will have one gascan. But to have three on a team capable of winning a division title is kinda scary.
  4. This guy is still alive? Happy b-day, anyway.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 05:48 AM) I think Lackey will be fine. ERA right around 4, give or take .25. One outing isn't going to change my mind. So he's basically Gavin Floyd at $8 million+ more per season through 2014? I know Gavin went with the security and would make more on the open market. But still, the Lackey signing was/is looking pretty bad. But the Red Sox can absorb it. One, because they're so good in the drafting/developing department. Two, they've got paper.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) Unless they catch lightning Tampa Bay-style, we will be having the exact same conversation in three years. Only time will tell. But if it ends up that way again, then so be it. I'm not a Pirates fan. I'd like to see them get good again. If only to make Cubs' fans lives more miserable. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Lackey contract=fail Definitely the case so far. And this is actually a point for Jerry and the 3-year contract stipulation. Thing is the Red Sox have drafted and developed an ace in Lester, a budding ace/#2 in Buchholz and had the pieces to land another ace (though not so much of late) in Josh Beckett. QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) Agreed; Honestly I much prefer both the Jays and Rays to the yankees and redsox for the ALE and WC. The jays pitching is serious business and they've got a good line-up. Andrew Friedman and Alex Anthopoulos are the top two young GMs in the game, IMO, and exactly the type of GM I would want running the Sox whenever KW quits or get fired (the latter more than likely never happening under any circumstance). Oh, and I didn't read beautox's post thoroughly. Neither team has a chance of competing with the Yankees or Red Sox this year. But the future is still very bright for both teams.
  7. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) Just heard that today was the smallest crowd ever at Progressive Field, 9853. That's a shame, too. They've got some really nice players. Yeah, they're not going to compete for a division title anytime soon. But certainly not so bad that there should be less than 10 grand for the second home game of the year.
  8. Leave Carlos right where he is. All it would take is a 2/12 stretch over the next few games and we wouldn't be talking about this. I want to see a good month of TCQ and not the WTFCQ before any lineup changes are made. Adam Dunn is attractive.
  9. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) Ide rather him just switch with Rios I know you're honoring your bet. But a small tear streams down my face every time I see that avy.
  10. QUOTE (yoyozuna @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) I am very excited about these first two games and really wondreing if Ozzie will keep the hot hitting line up in tact or are we going to see Brent L. Omar, and Teahan in the infield tomorrow? We better not see that at any point this season.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) Hopefully no typical Ozzie "Sunday Lineup". I want at least 8 of those same 9 out there tomorrow. Give Morel or Rios a day off if you want, but leave me the others. The Sunday lineup would be pathetic considering it'll be the third game of the season.
  12. WTF happened? It was 3-0 Pirates in the 8th last I checked?
  13. No complaints here. Pretty good all-around game. And Adam Dunn is pretty.
  14. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) They will always have that going for them. Major League 2, Angels in the Outfield. The White Sox are the bad guys! Don't forget about Tupac sporting a Sox cap all throughout Poetic Justice.
  15. Couldn't realistically ask for a better start. I feel really good going into tomorrow with our best pitcher.
  16. QUOTE (peanut33tillman @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) Good point, it's so just so difficult to compete in that division not to mention how much improved the Bo Sox should be with all their acquisitions. No doubt. It won't be easy. But that Alex however you spell his last name appears to be the real deal. He and Andrew Friedman of the Rays are the top two young GMs in baseball right now.
  17. QUOTE (peanut33tillman @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) They need Lind and Hill to rebound from down years last year, if they do they'll be tough. True. But they've got a ton of young talent at both the major and minor league levels. Not to mention a bevy of picks in this year's draft.
  18. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) WHo did they get in the Napoli to Texas deal again? Frank Francisco.
  19. Great work by Sale/Santos. 'Pen will be nasty outside of Pena/Ohman.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) Kyle Drabek threw 7 innings of 1-hit ball vs. Twins. Wowzers. That team has got a good future. Real good.
  21. Not to go into negative mode, but Sale just isn't going to be a starter. Delivery is way too violent.
