  1. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) I'm losing to a team with two players on the disabled list in the starting line up.. Yup, fantasy season has begun. Throw everything out the window that's normal in this league. I still can't fathom that I'm starting the likes of Wilson Valdez, Adam Lind and Matt Laporta.
  2. It's definitely mental at this point. No one team owns another to this degree without the "Oh s***! We're playing the team that annually rapes us. We're doomed" factor coming in. Which is exactly what happens to us whenever we play the Twins, especially on the road.
  3. QUOTE (joeynach @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) All I know is that if the Indians can torch Ohman, then the Royals can as well. He is easily the new linebrink he should never be in a game unless its a 10 run game either way. Im glad Ozzie is learning this now vs in a pennant race in July. Ohman is bad and cannot be trusted. Well you can't totally hide him. Especially when you already have Humber and Pena taking up space. Not to mention two relatively inexperienced guys in Sale and Santos. You have to use him correctly. He's a loogy and nothing but a loogy. And low-leverage situations should be the norm. And, yes, you'd love to throw him out there when you're either blowing a team out or getting blown out.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 05:05 PM) Montero has been pretty great for me so far. I got Montero and Arrencibia, so my catchers are looking stout. I currently have a trade offered to a guy. I am offering Joe Nathan and Marlon Bryd for Hunter Pence and Joakim Soria. I doubt he agrees to it though. Every trade I've offered has been rejected, even when I offered Bryd and Jurrjens for Rios and Morel. I thought that was a pretty good trade for him considering he didn't even have enough pitchers to fill a team, and Jurrjens wasn't injured yet. Failure. Soria > Nathan. Pence >>> Byrd
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) What exactly did Arizona's front office do wrong? I can understand the Byrnes deal and the Quentin trade being bad moves, but the Quentin trade also enabled them to bring in Haren. Should they have dumped Chris Young, or at least not signed him? He was part of that amazingly bright future. Who else did they trade away who has gone on to success, and were they not in the Haren trade? Arizona's team right now is the problem with the "Firesale". You might load up on great prospects, but great prospects don't turn you into a champion. They traded Cargo, Valverde, Scherzer and Haren in a span of like 3 years. Now I know they got Haren partly because of Gonzalez. But if you're going to end up trading Haren anyway it better be for more than Joe Saunders and a bunch of C+ prospects. And you're half right. A big part of their demise can be attributed to some of their youngsters not living up to the hype (outside of Upton's '09).
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) 10 day weeks in Fantasy suck. I would have already won in our sabr league against you if the 3 games accounted for one week...lol. I think you've got this week on lock. I should've done more homework for your crazy ass Saber-obsessed league. I waited too long on pitching. And I hate myself for taking Howard and Rios over Dunn and Bruce (I could've gotten both).
  7. Craig Kimbrel is f***ing sick. And this is why Sox fans drive me crazy with the notion that you have to suck for 10 years to develop legitimate talent from within. He was a third round pick. We used a first round pick on a guy that will more than likely end up where Kimbrel is, anyway. It's going to be fun to see who racks up more Ks between he and Marmol.
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) KC is still KC they will come back to earth against the Sox. Come back to earth? When did they ever leave? They're garbage. They have a chance to be good in a few years. But that's not 2011.
  9. This Arizona team is horrible. Shame, too. Had such an amazingly looking bright future in 2006-2007. Horrible front-office decision after another. I can see why KC fans temper their enthusiasm when it comes to their GOAT farm.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) I don't see the Rays remaining competitive enough during the next month without Longo. They needed him to basically carry them this year, so his injury is pretty huge. Yeah, it was going to be a major uphill climb with him in there. I just don't know where they're going to get consistent run production from. I guess there's a chance B.J. Upton could by chance finally realize he's one of the most talented players in baseball and start playing like it. Zobrist could revert to his '09 form. Both those are 50/50 propositions at best.
  11. Castro has a ways to go defensively.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) Quentin won AL Player of the Weekend? Awesome. Kinsler or Cruz probably should've won it. Though the 'honor' means little. And on a completely meaningless sidenote: I'm gonna be pissed if Kinsler stays healthy this year. He burned me in multiple leagues every year from '08-'10. I avoided him in all drafts like the black plague this year.
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) Me too. On another note, I think the guy in your avatar is going to be the talk of the NL this season. The CY is his. I predicted it last year and he came up a bit short. But he's got a slider now to go along with the FB and curve. It's a wrap.
  14. That's awful. Even fantasy baseball realizes it was a short week.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) Watching tigers vs. O's....and you know, on paper at least, the O's ain't that bad really, and they're playing pretty good out of the gate. Wonder if the AL East could be more interesting than just a 3 team race. I have no idea how the Rays are going to score runs this year. I actually like Toronto a lot more.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) Randy Wells looks terrible as well. This Diamondbacks lineup is an absolute joke. Yeah, Stephen Drew is out. But even with him in there it's a below average lineup.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) KC is a much more rounded out team this year... a bit under the radar. They could easily be .500. Not with that starting pitching. I do like the potential of their bullpen. Aaron Crow's got a Marmol-esque slider. Jeremy Jeffress routinely hits 98 MPH. And Soria is the best non-Rivera closer in the game.
  18. Good. I didn't enjoy seeing a no-hitter/perfect game every other week. I've always preferred slugfests to pitchers' duels. Game might go a little longer. But they're way more exciting to me.
  19. Joe Saunders is awful. Selling low doesn't even describe how bad the Haren trade was.
  20. I know fathom mentioned this earlier, but these NL lineups are deplorable. Seems like every NL team outside of probably the Reds and Braves have 2-3 auto-outs to go along with, of course, the pitcher.
  21. Joecool, your fake, scrub idol is in the lineup against the Cubs today.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) It was right...alright. 12 Ks, no walks, and no home runs given up. That's -12x2/7. The constant portion of FIP is usually 3.11. -24/7 is larger than 3. So the variable portion had a larger magnitude than the constant portion, resulting in a negative FIP. It won't last long though. I was going to explain it to him but I know any mention of sabermetics is like your batman signal. So I let you do what you love.
  23. Worried about a 2-game set with KC the first week in April? You're gonna be one stressed out mofo this year.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) They usually are the first team hitting during a season. It is July-September in Dallas that does them in. I don't get it?
  25. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) I more concerened with the ineffectiveness of Ohman, Yes, it's only two games, but it has been brutal. Maybe Humber got the butterflies out of his system Butterflies? He sucks. Phillip Humber wouldn't even be on this roster if Peavy were healthy.
