2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (balfanman @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 07:30 AM) And most here still don't think we have any prospects. I'm a long way from a minor league expert, but maybe our minor league system is better than we give it credit for. Not really. If you don't include Sale, who might end up a reliever anyway, we arguably have the worst collection of SP in the minors. And I'm not speaking from total ignorance. I subscribe to BA and follow other prospect-laden sights extensively. This is pretty much common consensus. Two of our top prospects coming into '10, Flowers and Danks, flopped miserably. Mitchell got hurt and was already raw to begin with. Other than a few relievers with decent upside, there's nothing to get excited about. And yes, I know JPN, Scenario or Northside will tell me I'm a minor league devil and I'm wrong.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Not sure if the mods want to start a new Awards Thread, but Feliz & Posey win the Rookie of the Year awards. I would've been fine with either Posey or Heyward (lol@dumbass Cardinals fans that thought Garcia should've won). Feliz was the easy choice in the AL (though Carlos Santana would've probably won had he not gotten hurt). This was an incredible year for rookies, mostly from the NL.

Beckham available???
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 13, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) Encarnacion got traded to Oakland from Toronto. Kouzmanoff would be an excellent defensive 3B if the Sox didn't have Morel. Beckham's blocking Lilli (can't believe I said that), and has more trade value than Lilli due to his draft status. I could see the Braves looking at him as an IF option since he's a Georgia hero and Chipper's on his last legs. I thought Encarnacion was a waiver claim? And the Braves are overflowing with elite pitching prospects. I'd aim for Teheran and if the Braves don't budge settle for Delgado.

Beckham available???
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) I like Becks, in fact, I really like him, but if we could get a really top flight 5 tool young CFer than I'd do it. Or outfielder. So I don't think his untouchable, just unlikely we will deal him. I really wonder if this is the year we see a very new White Sox offense. One that won't have many familiar faces from the past two years (Dye, Paulie, Thome, AJP, CQ). Beckham for Andrew McCutchen? Just pulling that out of my buttocks. I know it'd never happen.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
Wow, I didn't even realize Miller had been traded. Yeah, safe to say the Cabrera haul goes down as an epic fail.

Beckham available???
So not a single quote from KW in that article? The author just making his own observations/predictions? Yawn.

BA put on waivers...
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 13, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) Who is this referring to?? Aaron Rowand and Gold Glove should never be mentioned in the same sentence(other than this one). He was absolutely an elite CF in his time here. Age/injuries have taken their toll the last few years. But he was outstanding, if not exactly graceful, as a White Sox.

BA put on waivers...
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 13, 2010 -> 01:01 AM) Sometimes the guy holding the bat has to accept the responsibility. Man, what wasted talent. Wasn't he a first round pick? Too cocky? One could argue every White Sox first round pick from 1991-2007 was an epic fail. That is a credit to the organization that we've been able to have the success we've had with absolutely no help from the amateur draft.

BA put on waivers...
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) The numbers actually indicated that he was only above average. From what I remember seeing, he got good reads and had solid speed, but he wasn't amazing out there. He made some amazing plays, but Podsednik made an amazing play or two in CF in 2009 too, and I don't think anyone was beckoning for him to be the team's every day CFer. They don't even indicate that. Exactly average at best is what they really indicate. And it's amazing the damage the miscalculation of Brian Anderson caused this organization. A GG caliber starting CF on a team that just won the World Series and our top position prospect, who was also a CF, were traded in the span of a month because we thought Anderson could man CF.

BA put on waivers...
Good riddance, bum.

Jermaine Dye wants back.
Dye is done and should not be considered for anything. Speed, athleticism and defense is what this team needs to focus on.

Jermaine Dye wants back.
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) Disagree with your assessment of Dye. We are looking at a DH here with a good bat. No different then a signing of Jim Thome. It's the position you fill to better the team. It's a lot different considering Dye had been in a rapid decline every year since his amazing 2006 season. Add to that the guy hasn't played in over a year? And he'll be 37 in a couple months? No thanks.

Alexei Ramirez wins AL Silver Slugger
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) LOL, horrid? Come on now. Yes, horrid. Sub .700 OPS, lower contact, BB and power rates across the board in comparison to his rookie season. I know he hit .300 or whatever in the second half. But that doesn't nearly mask the fact that Gordon Beckham was a bad baseball player in 2010. With that said, I DO NOT want him traded.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
lol@LeBron whining about playing too many minutes last night, and that Wade played too many as well. This guy is unbelievable. I don't think I've ever seen any human being ever go from generally liked to nation-wide s***head in a matter of like 28 minutes.

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 12:29 AM) What former Sox would you want on the team next season if you could only pick one pitcher and one position player? At their current ability. I would choose Hudson for the staff barely beating out Richard. For the position player, I'd choose Uribe I guess (taking the role of super utility man from Teahan and Omar). Daniel Hudson and Chris Young. Everybody knows how I feel about dealing Hudson. I never liked the Young trade. Oh, I'll admit I supported it. s***, we were, what, two months fresh off of a World Series title. KW could've traded my mom and I would've been cool. But I always felt KW got just a tad greedy with that trade. And looking back it was obviously a prelude of what was to come with KW in regards to prospects.

Alexei Ramirez wins AL Silver Slugger
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) It's wild that on paper, we have a championship caliber infield in Paulie, Beckham, Alexei and Morel. I mean seriously, that's not a bad infield. Our outfield leaves something to be desired right now. Juan is average at best in left; Rios is fine in center, but very streaky at the plate, while CQ remains the enigma. For our outfield to be above average, Quentin has to hit a TON. Beckham was horrid in '10 and Morel has proven nothing. How is that a championship caliber IF?

My fault for underestimating the Celtics. They're deep as f*** and will be better when West/Perkins come back.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) Oh you didn't notice this before I did? Ok, guess I made it up then.....? Are you serious? I didn't say you were making it up. I SAW the report once you posted the link. I'm calling the piece itself bulls***. Makes absolutely no sense that the Brewers would want to trade a franchise piece like Ryan Braun when he's so good, young and cheap.

Jermaine Dye wants back.
QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) 17 is the age of consent in Illinois, no? lol... she's grown up quite a bit since the School of Rock days I feel like the biggest pedophile. But I can't help it.

Beckham available???
QUOTE (sircaffey @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Well, considering how starved this organization is for young cheap SP, it'd be plain dumb for KW to not be willing to move Beckham. Especially considering KW's philosophy is to have a strong rotation 1 through 5. God damnit. Cmon, man. Don't get me me started. I'm trying to get over the Hudson debacle.

Beckham available???
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) Doubt it. He's available for a crazy price. KW isn't going to get rid of him unless a team overpays. Techinically he's available, because as Hawk correctly states, every player is or has been tradeable except one. Michael Jordan. Beckham is going nowhere unless some team is willing to grossly overpay. The White Sox aren't going to let a guy with his talent, tied up cheaply for years, unless they are getting the same thing back multiple times. He's going nowhere. Like I said, I want no part of trading Beckam. Not sure if it was this thread or another where I said unless we're getting a Mike Stanton, Pedro Alvarez type back (the latter I'm in love with), just say no. I'm just saying that unlike going into 2010, he's going to have to kinda prove himself all over again. If he sucks ass to start the year again in '11, we got major problems.

Jermaine Dye wants back.
I want Miranda Cosgrove. Until JD realizes he's a DH and only a DH he will stay unemployed.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Unless you are an ESPN Insider, you can't view the link, but here it is anyway..... http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/features/ru..._/date/20101110 "MLB.com's Peter Gammons said on Red Sox Hot Stove Live Tuesday night that he's heard the Milwaukee Brewers may consider trading left fielder Ryan Braun" I am an insider and I hadn't seen this. I'm calling total bulls***. Braun had what could be classified a 'down' season in '10 and still sported a .380 wOBA and 4.2 WAR, which was all offensively driven (he's a horrible defender). And as LH mentioned, he's ridiculous cheap through 2013 and not really even that expensive in 2014. It would take a minimum of three premium prospects to acquire him.

Beckham available???
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Are you serious? It was his second full season of professional baseball and his first full year in the majors. All this talk about Beckham being a mental midget is completely absurd. The kid had some difficulty handling failure for the first time in his baseball career, but he rebounded nicely in the second half. Trading him because of those struggles would be a huge mistake. I agree completely.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) .....I must be missing something here.... I know we have a minor league reliever named Ryan Braun as well, but why the hell would I be talking about him? Inside joke? Well "Ryan Braun on the trading block" with no link, source or even you stating where you heard this from would cause most to believe this was bulls***. I actually thought you were serious.
