  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) I don't know if the Phitin's needed a wakeup call or not...but they officially have one now. I know I flip-flopped before the series. But I said a few weeks ago that the Giants are tailor-made for the playoffs.
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 05:12 PM) Ok...now back my point like 3 pages ago..... And Brent Morel would like to kindly point out how he won the batting title there last year, and went on to have a "good" season in the minors this year. u can't possibly be this hard-headed. You don't use the word dominant for a Brent Morel. He had a solid season. That's it. You're getting all confrontational for no reason. Just admit you used the wrong word and move on.
  3. QUOTE (joeynach @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) I think the Giants could easily sign crawford, they have no real outfield depth and they really lack a top of the order hitter. Their outfield is basically Rowand in CF thru 2012 and then nothing. Andres Torres sucks and Pat Burrell is a free agent. Your telling me they couldnt use Crawford there and then plug him and Freddy Sanchez in for the top of the order. Plus they will have some $$ to spend this offseason as well. Lol@Torres sucks. He might've been the best value player in baseball this year. A 6 WAR for a guy that made less than half a million dollars.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Cody Ross, again? He's gone mark lemke (i.e. scrub goin' babe ruth in the postseason).
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) LOL, no one is going to suspend you for talking about prospects. People may react strongly to you because you make everything out to be the end of the world, the worst of the worst, or some other extreme. You just seem so bitter that you can't see anything other than doooooooooooooom, and therefore everything Sox is terrible in your estimation. You'd think the Sox were the Pirates or something. And that's not even true. I'm not even in the top 10 around here when it comes to negativity. But I can't stand homerism and the residue from 2005 has all but vanished. I don't like the current position or direction my favorite team is in.
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) I'd trade Beckham in a heartbeat in the right deal. Like many have said tho...his value really isn't that high right now. Tell ya what...I just have a bad feeling about him right now for some reason. He looked absolutely clueless at the plate this past year except for a few mini-streaks. Love to see him turn it around...but it really wouldn't surprise me if he got sent down at some point next year. Hope I'm wrong. For another pitcher? And who's our 2B, Retherford? Like Balta said, outside of '09 Greinke has been pretty ordinary. This franchise desperately needs to come up wit some premium position talent. I'm nowhere close to giving up on Gordon.
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Mike Stanton dominated too, so what's your point? My point is I can't talk to some of y'all about our minor leaguers. Then I'll say something and a mod will threaten to suspend me. On what planet did Brent f***ing Morel dominate?
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) The main difference between Greinke's 2010 season and his 2009 season from a pitching independent scenario is that 60 or so of his strikeouts in 2010 (guaranteed outs) were turned into ground balls in 2010 (generally easy outs or singles). Seriously 2009 - 242 K 239 GB 242 FB 116 LD 2010 - 181 K 303 GB 239 FB 117 LD He also saw his HR/9 rise, though it's still below league average (from his freakish 4.5 HR/FB in 2009 to a more realistic 7.5 HR/FB). The biggest outlier in his entire season was his LOB%. For his career, it's 72.5%, and from 2005-2009 it never dipped below 75.2%. In 2010, it was 65.3%. That indicates pretty poor luck on batted balls too. I'd say Greinke is still an elite pitcher and he suffered quite a bit of bad luck last year, and I'd trade anybody in the system for Zach Greinke. Anybody in the system? Lol. That's not very bold. But would u trade Beckham? And no more alcohol for u if u say yes.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) Really? Greinke's K/9 in 09 was 9.5, his career number is 7.6, and he was back to 7.4 last year. His career BB/9 is 2.3, and it was 2.0 in 09 and 2.3 in 2010. He gave up a lot more fly balls in 2010 than in 2009, so he wound up giving up a lot more hits. But if his defense was failing to field balls put in play, his BABIP should have shot up, and instead it was .309 in 2008, .307 in 2009, and .309 in 2010. Is this Balta or chw42?
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) And Brent Morel would like to kindly point out how he won the batting title there last year, and went on to dominate the minors this year. Dominate? Damn. What would u call what Mike Stanton did?
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) I saw they released Melky today. Wouldn't shock me to see Cabrera with the Sox next year, as he's always been rumored to be a KW favorite. Cmon man, I'm already down as it is on the Sox. I'll start fireballing if that happened. I can't take Juan Pierre AND Melky Cabrera. I'll off myself.
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) So the question becomes..should we sell high on the kid this offseason? Kinda like DLS? A lot of you seem to think he is playing above his capabilities right now. Except we didn't sell high. We overpaid and have nothing to show for it. And Escobar's bat wouldn't allow us to sell high anyway.
  13. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) Right now he's a kid who just homered and went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored against among the best AA competition out there. Tyler Flowers: the end
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) I've always felt that when Greinke gets traded, it will be to Atlanta. They've got a bevy of premium pitching prospects not too far away from The Show. They need offense like I need crack.
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) Im 90% sure that there is only a $1 million increase per year if he is traded. Edit: Yup, goes to 16 million from 15 million. http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/2154/base2010.jpg Holy s***. He makes more than I thought. Mark is one overpaid mofo.
  16. QUOTE (T R U @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) oh please, yeah hes good but he was sent to the minors what.. just 3 years ago? and u became a heat fan 3 months ago.
  17. Cliff Lee is the greatest pitcher of the modern era.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) Really, you don't think we can come up with others who are at least pre-arb? Evan Longoria and his $950k salary this year? David Price and his $1.8 million? Joey Votto for $525k? Let's just agree its not ramirez.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) The Cardinals clearly look like they're moving Rasmus this year because he doesn't fit with their team and manager. Mark Buehrle is not a #4 starter in the AL, and he's especially not one in the NL. You have a really odd idea of all these teams having #4 starters with ERA's around 4 and 200+ innings in the AL. The reason the Cardinals wouldn't do it is that they probably can't take on his salary and also have Wainright's money go up and pay Holliday and find another $10 million+ per year for Albert starting in 2012. 3/4 starter. U can't possibly think he's a 2 at this point. And he's not worth no 12 million.
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) The worst case scenario is trying to replace him with 2 cheap guys like they did for the DH. I think he'll be on the team next year. Wouldn't mind giving Brandon Allen a shot. But hey, we got Tony Pena.
  21. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 06:51 PM) I think he has one more homer in AFL play than Juan Pierre ever would, though. Also, a young shortstop drawing comparisons to Juan Pierre would be more than a blip on the radar in a lot of places. Two words: Brian Anderson I want nothing to do with all glove, no bat players.
  22. Only in our pathetic system would this guy be a blip on the radar screen. He's basically a Latino Juan Pierre.
  23. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 06:33 PM) Alexei Ramirez and he's the best bargin in baseball. False. That would be Adrian Gonzalez. But I get where you're coming from.
  24. QUOTE (Fantl916 @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) i'm starting to be huge into the idea of colby rasmus. i know a lot of folk have talked danks + for him, anyone think they might take buerhle + morel + an arm or two for rasmus? then with the money saved we extend danks? good move for our future... anyone think it possible? Good move? It'd be a f***ing great move. Problem is why on earth would the Cards trade a cheap, under control, budding all-star for a #4 starter who'll be 32 by the time next season starts making 12 million and a solid but hardly elite prospect? It would no doubt take danks. And I wouldn't have a problem with that if our Gm hadn't sucked the life out of our farm with s*** to show for it the last 3 years.
  25. For the sake of the franchise it has to be Gordon. He was supposed to be the surest thing we've had since #35. This organization desperately needs an identifiable star.
