  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) Not sure what you're getting at. Every team goes through tough stretches. Thats the nature of a 162 game season. However, the people saying that they are done with the team after 5 games...well, I'm not sad to see them go. My fault. I read your last post wrong.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) Some people are telling it like it currently is. Others have completely lost it. Telling it like it is? So at no point this season were we expected to lose 4 of 5?
  3. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) I really want to keep note of this gamethread because in a couple weeks its really possible everyone in here will have changed their tune completely. Makes you wonder why some people watch the games. Just stop watching and find something else better to do with your time.
  4. QUOTE (Real @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) Lining into a DP on a H&R isn't a f*** up on the bases, IMO If that happened to the Sox, everybody would be talking about how stupid they are.
  5. Now can we please stop acting like the Twins never f*** up on the bases? That's twice in the last two games.
  6. CQ has had some horrific at bats so far this season.
  7. Anybody see highlights of David Price last night? Only word that comes to mind is "electric." He was topping out at 97 MPH last night. He had every pitch in his arsenal workin' for him.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 07:42 AM) I like how neither one even mentioned Danks or Floyd. I understand Gavin is 27, but Danks is 24 and could easily be mentioned with the wave of new pitchers. Yeah, I'd definitely have Danks in there. It's a shame how many wins he's been screwed out of in his short career.
  9. Wow, I'm trying to be positive. But this is getting bad.
  10. Pedro Alvarez with two more homers last night. I've said it before and I'll say it again, he'll be the best player from the '08 draft. Carlos Santana also hit another one out.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:37 AM) Its at .185 now, and there's no question that will go way up, but the fact of the matter is, you have to look past the BB numbers. Carmona couldn't throw a strike to save his life. 25% of our walks came from him. Should we really be praising them for not swinging at bad pitches? How many runners have we left on base? Who's praising them? The offense has been bad overall. And I don't know why you keep bringing up Carmona. Even if you remove him, we've drawn 18 BB in the other 3 games. That's a 6 per game average. That's pretty good. We won't stay at that pace all year. But we won't hit .180 either. And as has been mentioned, we've hit a ton of line drives right at fielders.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) They've shown some good plate discipline overall, but if you wanna talk about skewed numbers, that would be it. Carmona accounts for 25% of those walks, and the majority of the rest is against the amazing Indians pitching staff. We're 4 games into the season. All numbers are skewed at this point. But the BB shows the approach hasn't been all that bad. We're hitting like .150 as a team right now. I'll go on and assume that won't last.
  13. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) Oh too slow. Anyways its early in the season but the mental mistakes and lack of solid plate approach, combined with some real questionable managing, have got me pretty disheartened about this season. The Sox are second in MLB in BB with 24. The approach hasn't been that bad.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:45 PM) I think anything above 4 from Javy is reasonable. Unfortunately, these Yankees fans forgot just how bad he was with them in 04. It was so predictable. The Yankees scored a couple to make it 2-0 heading into the bottom of the 4th. How does Javy respond? He gives up a 5-spot. He's getting killed over at nyyfans.com.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:40 PM) The alternative was playing Nix or Teahen vs a lefty in Liriano? Not Ozzie's fault. Um, I would've taken that alternative.
  16. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) vazquez in the a.l. not surprised by his outing so far today lol a lot different than the n.l. Not a surprise. I figure Javy will have an ERA around 4.50-4.75. But in his defense, I think the Rays might be the most complete team in the AL. They're going to cut up quite a few pitchers this year.
  17. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:32 PM) You don't feel good about Pena's effort tonight? He pitched well. But the lead-off walk to Mauer was a killer. I just can't stand lead-off walks.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:27 PM) The problem isn't that the season is over. The problem is that our starting pitching is way too good for the season to ever end...it will be a long, slow, lingering death because of the offensive shortcomings, which were apparent last year and all too apparent again in the early games in 2010. That it was predictable and completely avoidable...that's what is most upsetting. It's doubtful the Twins can run away from the rest of the pack with Rauch as the closer, and the Tigers have a bundle of holes, too. I have no doubts the White Sox will be "in it" for most of the season. Do you really think we're gonna hit .150 for the season? We're 2nd in baseball in BB with 24. That's an average of 6 a game. That's something to be encouraged about. The hits will come. We're gonna need a solid month before we can come to any legitimate conclusion on what kind of offense we really have.
  19. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:23 PM) Ozzie should be fired for telling his company's customers to take their business to the competition. Also, I thought I heard him say something on CTL before the game about "idiots" that think they know baseball and something like "that's why they have to get up at 4:00 in the morning and I have this bleepin' job." Very condescending to the fans. Couple this with his poor eye for talent, his poor in-game managing and his inability to make out a decent lineup and I think he has finally worn out his welcome. I liked Ozzie but his time has come. He wanted this mess of a roster so now he has to take the blame for wasting this great pitching staff. Yes, it's early, but if he's going to insult the fans who are upset at his team's poor performance it's already time for him to go. Maybe some fans are overreacting, but you don't insult your fans. Sports fans are some of the dumbest creatures on earth. I don't blame Ozzie at all for that.
  20. I just don't feel real good about anybody not named Thornton right now. Santos has pitched well.
  21. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) I know it's a long offseason, and it sucks that the team is not winning. However, the massive overreaction going on right now is hilarious. +100 You could go to at least 15 other message boards and find at least a dozen fans proclaiming their team's season over. It's quite funny.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) Why is it always just the offense or just Ozzie? It's a little bit of both. The bullpen, a supposed strength, has been pretty bad the last three nights as well.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) Something might have to be done about Pierre, sooner rather than later. Like what? It's not like we have any other enticing options.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) Now's the perfect time for me to take a dump and not miss anything. Idiot.
  25. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) How exciting is to to see the guys coming up in the 3rd are: Ramirez, Lucy, Pierre.... Now's the perfect time for me to take a dump and not miss anything.
