How 'bout those White Sox!
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) Danks. Isn't Floyd sporting an ERA of under 1.50 in his last 8 starts?

I don't know who's hotter right now: Danks or Floyd?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) That's kind of a dumb statement IMO. Give Liney credit as much as Olivo f***ing up. Um, no. Olivo bailed him out. That was ball 4 all the way.

How 'bout those White Sox!
This team hasn't looked this good in all aspects since October, 2005.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:27 PM) Royals had one good month where everybody got excited. Now they are wondering if the team will keep losing at this alarming rate the final 12 weeks. They need to stop wondering. Just look at their everyday lineup. Disgusting.

The Royals got some serious heat in their 'pen. That's about all they've got aside from ZG.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) So would that have been an easy double play if Nix had caught the throw? I was watching Manny's first AB. No. It would've been a very difficult DP attempt even if he catches it cleanly.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:07 PM) I'd still rather get closer to 1st at this point and worry about the Twins later on. Just saying the Twins, IMO, are the bigger threat of the two over the long run.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) We should be careful what we wish for. I'd much rather go up against the Tigers down the stretch. I was going to say the same thing. The Twins have a better bullpen, the two best players in the division, and two guys in Baker/Liriano that are pitching much, much better the last 5 weeks or so.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:48 PM) Nix is not a good matchup for RHP right now. Especially one like Greinke. I know. Just saying.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) Grienke is done for the night! The offense is coming around nicely as we have put it on both Cliff Lee and Zach Grienke in the last few days. It is amazing how we struggled against Chen, but just kicked Greinke around the park. This game of baseball really makes no sense at times. And that's why I love it.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) Ok, let's stop trying to run on Olivo. He's fun to watch behind the plate. Nice to see a White Sox farmhand succeed. Even if it is with another team.

2009 Cubs thread
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) Wrong. Sorry, the contributions of Soriano, Fukudome, Soto, Lee, Marmol, Lilly, Z, Wells, Dempster, Harden definitely outweighs that of Braun, Fielder, Hardy, Cameron, Gallardo, Hoffman. Even throwing in Weeks into the equation, you’d have too add A-Ram for the Cubs. Absolute win for the Cubs. Other than starting pitching, the Brewers are clearly the more talented team. But that could change in a hurry if the Brewers make a deal for somebody like Oswalt.

2009 Cubs thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) The Brewers don't have much of a pitching staff. That's something the Cubs do have. And if you think the Cubs' offense is underachieving, the Brewers offense underachieves almost every year. Despite the fact that they have Hart, Braun, Fielder, and Hardy, all guys who have plus power and are good hitters, they're always a mediocre to barely above average offense. Really puzzles me. Really a shame what happened to Weeks. He was finally having that breakout year. But even with that, the Brewers are ranked 3rd and 4th in the NL in HR's and runs scored this year. Their bullpen is probably the best in the division. They desperately need another starter.

2009 Cubs thread
Despite the fact the Brewers have more talent, the Cubs just seem to have their number. It's a shame the Cubs are as close as they are considering how they've played this year (then again, you could say the same about the Sox). I guess the one bright spot is the the Brewers have a loaded farm. So they have the pieces to go out and upgrade.

Read at another site that the NY times is reporting that Chapman is 26?

Man it feels good when no matter what starter we trot out there you can feel confident that you have at least a 60% chance of winning that game.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 01:53 AM) 6 hours a day at the gym? That's 36 hours a week, just about a full time job. What's the rest of your schedule like if you don't mind me asking? Just curious on how you dedicate so much time. Thanks The 6 hours a day was for the first three months (November through early February). I don't go that long now. And I was doing that while working 35-40 hours a week as well. So other than sleeping, I really had no time for anything. After taking a few weeks off, I started going for about half that time. So my bad if I made it sound like I've been going 6 hours a day since November. Since it's summer, I can run outdoors now (and I enjoy outdoor running more than the treadmill anyway). So I do all my ab work at the gym. Along with sauna and swimming. And I'm running outside for 90 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

QUOTE (Stocking @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) Hurry up with the pictures man! Again I am absolutely amazed, congratulations J4L. Now that the weight is off, have you thought about lifting more and cardio less? I'll get on it. I've gotta get a scanner. And I have started a light lifting program. 130 is my max. And that's pretty embarrassing to admit. lol. but I'll get better. As for my cardio? I plan on taking it easy as far as the machines at the gym go. I'm just gonna stick with the 90 minutes of outdoor running for now. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 05:09 PM) To get down to 155 lbs, you would have needed a small frame to begin with.. But to get to 230 with that small frame, you must have been fat as s***.. true story? Im having a very hard time believing this, not that I am saying you didn't do it or it couldn't be done. I am just not understanding how you go from 230 to 155.. the body physics aren't adding up to me, im 230 lbs right now and there is no way that I could ever weigh 155 lbs Just tryin to understand, not trying to make this an argument in any way dude No offense taken at all. I look in the mirror and can't believe it my damn self. I've heard it all. "Are you starving yourself?" "Are you sick?" "Do you have a tapeworm?" lol. And one important factor I left out from my earlier post is the drinking. For about two years (2006 through most of 2008) I went on a serious drinking binge. Stress? Life? I don't know if I was depressed or what. But I think I consumed more alcohol than any human on the planet during that time. And most of that was all beer. And I'm sure you know what excessive beer can do to you after a while. There would be nights where I would drink as many as 4 40 ounce bottles of mickey. Then turn around and scarf down multiple big macs or whoppers. This was almost every night. I totally gave up beer. Haven't had a sip of beer in over 8 months. I have to believe that's played a large role. I limit my drinking to weekends only. Vodka or something like that. As far as my frame? I don't know. I'm about 6'0. I'm not really big anywhere. Chest is a decent size. In HS i was always around 155-165. Then like most people, I put on weight after HS. It wasn't anything crazy. I think the most I weighed before 2006 was about 180. Then the drinking binge started, combined with horrible eating habits, and I simply blew up. Especially my face, thighs and stomach. But I'll get some pics up for you guys. I don't really have any before pics. I made for damn sure that nobody took any pics or recorded me or anything during that time. I was real sensitive. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 11:18 PM) s***, Jordan. I wish i had your work ethic. Great job, man. Thanks, man.
