  1. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) So, 3 homers ISN'T getting shelled? Hot damn, sign me up then, I'll pitch. No, 3 solo shots in 6+ innings isn't getting shelled.
  2. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) Wow dude, you're pretty good with the quote button! I was pointing out that you need to be a little more clearer with your posts. You said how can we pay a guy in '07 with an era of 11. I'm pretty sure his era won't reach 11.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) Mark should of been pulled before the disaster happened. I can agree with that. I was just responding to Tito's bogus claim of Buehrle getting absolutely shelled. That wasn't anywhere near the case.
  4. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) Yes, his ERA during his "slump" is around 11.
  5. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Okay, and what if it is his arm just going dead? You think its worth 9.5 million to have a starter in 2007 with an ERA of 11? His era is 11 now?
  6. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) Haha, just saw the highlights on CSN, and Mark Buehrle looked absolutely f***ing terrible, oh man. I laughed really hard seeing him pitch in the 7th. He looked like a f***ing train wreck. And all three of those homers were on absolutely terrible pitches. Buehrle is toast, wow. Now I don't know who I want to see sit more, Buehrle or Garcia. Um, other than 3 bad change-ups, Mark looked fine. He got screwed over big-time in the 7th.
  7. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) The way he has pitched, I'm now not totally convinced they will pick up his 9.5 million dollar option. If he continues to pitch like he has since June, he ain't worth 4 million. That's ridiculous. 5 1/2 years > 5 or 6 bad starts Mark isn't the first good pitcher in history to go into a slump.
  8. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) Also you act like our bullpen is clutch. Our bullpen has been average at best. Good point. Who in our bullpen has been exactly lights-out of late?
  9. I have officially conceded the division to Detroit. I'm now 100% focused on the WC. So for tomorrow and Wednesday -- go Tigers!
  10. Alright, now that we've blamed Ozzie for losing a game for the 40th time this year, anybody gonna give any credit to Escobar? He made our guys look pretty silly and stupid tonight. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) The pink fuzzy bunnies response to should of Ozzie pulled Buerhle. Rongey "Well if you have to give up this game, to get Buerhle pitching, you do that. It could be a huge inning for the rest of the season for Mark if he got out of it. Who says bmac comes in and gets out of it." Sorry PFB, we dont have the luxury of just throwing games away with a wildcard fight going on. This is not the time to cater to a SPs ego. We needed to win this game. And we needed to win more games. Honestly, why do you listen to the guy if you have that big a problem with him?
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) So much better than a DL trip for Crede... I'm with you as far as I'd rather it be Uribe than Crede. But Uribe hasn't been a slouch of late (save the stupid mental errors he's been making).
  12. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) GO FOR THE SWEEP!! LOL. This is pretty much the only way we could sweep someone. God knows we sure can't do it after taking the first two games of a 3-game series.
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) http://www.futuresox.com/frontpage/modules...cle&sid=364 But when will he win the Flash Tizzle Pitcher of the Week? When we trade him to the Twins.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) Looks like this is all mute if Crede is in the lineup tonight. I assume you meant moot.
  15. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) update on right now: crede's in the line up tonight. Thread ends for me with this post.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) He'd be worse, there's really no doubt in my mind. Then it's settled. When Rowand says "there's no doubt in my mind," the debate ends.
  17. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Crede's important, don't get me wrong. But it's not like losing Dye, PK, Thome or even A.J., IMO. Get him healthy now. There's still nearly half of August and all of September to have him healthy. And remember the tear he went on after going on the DL last year... I disagree there. Crede is argubly our best all-around player. Losing him for any stretch is a big blow.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Do you really think Fields could come up right now and produce? I really don't believe he could, think Brian Anderson in April, but worse at the plate and without the fantastic d. Whoa, worse than Anderson in April? That's rough.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) This would be the worst possible timing for Crede to go to the DL. I would have to think that Fields might get the call. In my opinion, later is now! If we tank in the next two weeks, our season is likely over. ^^^ The horrid stretch against the Red Sox/Yankees/Tigers/Rangers/Twins has put us in a position in which we can't have anymore slumps. Even for a week.
  20. Jim or Frank? God damnit. This is gonna be tough.
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) You keep making this sound like I have a personal vendetta against Pods. If he played well, I wouldn't have a problem with him. And you continually bring up what Mackowiak did in Pittsburgh. If you hadn't noticed, he's not on the Pirates anymore. He's on a much better team with much better protection. He's hitting, as you said, well over .300 against righties. If he trends downwards, as he clearly must because he's "always been a bench player," I'd bet he still bats over .300 for the year against righties. I doubt he's going to fall completely apart like the Tigers should be any day now. Mack last 3 years against righties: .272, .258, .273 So you attribute a 50-60 point jump this year simply by him being on a better team? That's a stretch IMO. And my main point is you devalue him if you make him try to do something he's never done -- with good reason. And your "he's played in 79 games, so he's not really a bench player" is a weak argument. How many games has he actually started? He can come off the bench for one at-bat to pinch-hit and that counts as a game played for him. And Ozzie was forced to play him 5 or 6 days in a row when Anderson was suspended.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) I've been advocating an Ozuna/Mackowiak platoon, not just having Ozuna be the starting LF. And no, I'm not kidding myself. Ozuna murders lefties. Mackowiak murders righties. There's already a platoon of Pods/Ozuna, Mack just does a better job against righties than Pods. So forget Pods and his inability to do anything well. Mackowiak does everything he does better, especially now that Pods doesn't even steal anymore. Ozuna hasn't murdered much of anything since the all-star break. Mack is on one of his customary hot-streaks at the moment. He goes on one or two of them a season. I believe he's hitting .327 against righties at the moment. That's nice. Now go look at his career numbers against righties. Let's just say I seriously doubt he hits this well for the rest of the year. That's why he's a bench player. You start him 3 or 4 times a week and he'll get exposed. He's perfect for the role he's in. It makes no sense to make him something he's not just because you don't happen to like the left-fielder, who's not even close to one of our top 3 or 4 main concerns at this time.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Disagreed. Mackowiak may be better in every facet of the game. And you were the main one advocating Ozuna to start in place of Pods when he was hitting .400. You're kidding (mainly lying) to yourself if you think Mack could be even a decent leadoff hitter.
  24. We need you Mark. You owe us about 6 fantastic starts in a row after the July debacle.
  25. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) So... who is everyone going for tonight, Twins? Tigers? Doesn't matter? Tigers. But I won't be upset if the Twins win. Either way we gain ground on somebody if the Sox win.
