Mark needs to be on it tonight. This might be the second best offense in baseball.

Series Preview: White Sox vs. Red Sox
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 07:38 AM) No way, check out their stats with RISP: Thome (65 ABs, 9 HR, 46 RBI, .385 BA, .505 OBP, .846 SLG, 1.352 OPS) Ortiz (94 ABs, 7 HR, 49 RBI, .277 BA, .405 OBP, .532 SLG, .937 OPS) Ortiz has had 29 more ABs with runners in scoring position, and he gets a lot more SportsCenter coverage for every single hit. VORP Thome 39.1 > Ortiz 31.2

Those Obnoxious Boston Fans
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) Just ask them how Boston did in the playoffs last year. You ever been to a Boston site called SonsOfSamHorn? They still think they would've won the series if Tony G. hadn't made the error.

Best Hawk Call of '06?
Could you imagine if Hawk had done our playoff games last year? I don't think he would've survived.

I'm pretty much done with Javier Vazquez.
QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) We are an impatient bunch, aren't we? 9-4 and the guys' ready for the scrap heap. I've criticized Javy myself, but thought he at least battled tonight. After the 3 run inning, in which BA proved his worth, he settled down very nicely and blew away the O's the next time through the order. Then Tejada got a double and there was another hit and Javy was rightfully gone. But Riske allowed a hit to let the last run in. Anyway, I thought it was something to build on. A middling start rather than a horrible one. All we really need is middling starts for him to win ballgames. I just hope the Sox can continue to provide him with ridiculous run-support.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) Compared to the past, yeah. He wasn't 3-0 or 3-1 on every hitter in the lineup. God, he only allowed 5 hits and 1 walk. People make it sound like he allowed 9 runs again... That's because Ozzie was smart and yanked his ass in the 5th inning.

QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) Garcia's pitching Saturday. NM then. I don't like his chances at all against Boston.

Politte Continues to Struggle
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) There is a difference, perhaps too subtle for you to comprehend, between not wanting Politte anymore on the team -- and nobody can possibly want him to remain -- and saying, "He's trash" over and over and over, and ridiculing the end of his career. I'm not going to work myself up over it, and I'm going to bow out now, thanks. I just wanted to say that those of you laughing at Cliff's failures and screeching not for him to bow out of the game, to be cut from the team, but having all the fun in the world and directing all your misguided anger toward him should be ashamed. But, hey, he's garbage, and worthless now, right? So it's okay to be cruel instead of insensitive. When people say "he's garbage," I'm fairly certain they're talking about his performance. Everybody knows what a good guy Cliff is. You think I like the fact that he sucks so bad? I wish he was the same guy from last year. We'd have pretty much the best bullpen in the league if he was. Don't get mad at me because he's terrible.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
What is everybody's problem with tigerfan? All he said was that we should be more relieved than overjoyed that we won tonight. Agree or disagree, that's certainly not something to jump down his throat over.

Series Preview: White Sox vs. Red Sox
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) Tampa came within ............ sweeping 4 from these pussies. If we dont get AT LEAST 2 of 3 I'll be shocked. RIP EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, Vazquez and Garcia won't be pitching. As long as Ozzie doesn't foolishly throw Politte out there, we should take 2 of 3.

Politte Continues to Struggle
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) I'm happy that you have. I was just commenting on my own view of it. I can't quite shake the disgust I have for this post. Cliff's not a rookie like Boone Logan; he isn't someone who has been with the club for a month, or some other trivial amount of time. He's a guy who helped take us to the World Series and has given us everything he possibly can. His career is disintegrating, and I think it should be obvious that he'll be done sooner rather than later. But it is obscene in the worst sense that there is no gratitude toward him, no nuance, no kind words whatsoever. It's as if he's a piece of meat to be discarded completely. Hey, listen, I don't like to lose games anymore than anyone, but my memory isn't so short and my heart not so dark as to laugh at someone in what might just be their worst moment, professionally at least, and certainly not when he's been on our team and done what he's done for us. Look, I will be forever in debt to Cliff for the role he played last year. I've said that about 674 times this year. But it's 2006 now. I want to repeat. I want it this year more than last year. Cliff Politte hurts the chances of us winning again. That's all that really matters.

Politte Continues to Struggle
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) This is like amateur hour compared to some of the things that have come up here. Remember the Buehrle thread? That was the greatest thread in Soxtalk history.

You guys are awesome
We're probably gonna have to vote Joe Crede in next year.

Politte Continues to Struggle
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) Personally, I'm of the opinion that it should probably be locked, as it's the foulest thing I've read here on SoxTalk. You haven't been here long. I've seen way worse than this.

Politte Continues to Struggle
Look, I realize how inconsistant relief pitchers can be, but I've never seen anything like this before in my life. Cliff Politte makes Shingo, Koch, Biddle or any other former Sox scrub you can think of look like a legitimate all-star. How does one fall this hard in one year?

Politte Continues to Struggle
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) with this situation, there isn't even a glass in the room All we need is for Jphat to start clownin' Cliff. That's when you know it's over.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) No offense, I wouldn't be so happy, as much as relieved. The O's nearly pulled off the impossible there. No lead is safe when Politte is pitching.

AJ PUNCHED TO PITTSBURGH!
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 06:11 PM) Since the game has such significance for the Sox if they return to the series, I kind of was hoping Liriano would get it. He's lights out and Oz could use that kind of pitching. Then again, I voted several times for AJ. Schizo. If the AL loses, it won't be because Liriano wasn't there.

AJ PUNCHED TO PITTSBURGH!
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) Seriously, is there a Twins board besides the MLB one? http://p216.ezboard.com/fdtfcdtfcminnesotatwinsforum

AJ PUNCHED TO PITTSBURGH!
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) On the Twins' MLB.com forum, some of the people are saying that NL fans and players voted for AJ because they felt they had a better chance of winning with him on the team than they did with Liriano on it. Haha, it's funny to see people trying to make excuses. That is one of the lamest excuses I've ever heard.

AJ PUNCHED TO PITTSBURGH!
Let's face it: If a White Sox player has a chance to make it, and we have anything to say about it -- he goin!
