  1. You know Kenny is seeing this. I expect he's working those phones this very moment.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) he has looked horrible so far... but ill hold judgement on him until the regular season begins... maybe that can fire him up some more put a couple more miles on that fastball. If Politte and Cotts can repeat their years hopefully Hermanson's role wont be that important anyways... im not 2 concerned with Cotts or Jenks really Politte is the guy im kind of questioning. That's all it really is. Dustin didn't forget how to pitch over the off-season. His arm strength is not where it was last year. He's got about 3 weeks to get it where it needs to be. If it's not any better in 3 weeks, I'll be worried.
  3. QUOTE(Timoperezrulez @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) Judging by Hermanson's performance this year, I really hope Jenks doesnt go down this year. Don't you mean his performance this spring?
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) BTW, Hawk said he's still concerned about our bullpen. Hermanson looks TERRIBLE! At this point, he's not ready to face MLB hitters. I'm still gonna give him until the end of the spring.
  5. Dustin is givin up some serious shots.
  6. The Redick hate needs to stop. Dude is great. That's it. He stepped up like great players are supposed to today. Props to Duke for holding on and beating a really good team in BC. BC is gonna be extremely dangerous in the tourney. I knew Smith and Dudley were very good players. I didn't realize they were such good passers. They've got an extremely athletic team that can give you fits defensively.
  7. I think it's safe to say Mark is ready to start the season. I've been impressed with all of our starters this spring. Oh, yeah, Weaver is pretty good.
  8. Just saw this on a Bears board. Bears | Team reportedly made a contract offer to Randle El Sat, 11 Mar 2006 23:40:52 -0800 The Chicago Tribune reports the Chicago Bears reportedly delivered what is believed to be a five-year contract offer to agent Fletcher Smith as soon as the free-agent market began Saturday morning, March 11, for Smith to present to free agent WR Antwaan Randle El (Steelers). It's possible the Bears would be willing to offer the sixth year that Randle El's camp is seeking.
  9. This isn't that great of signing. I don't think Taylor is better than Mewelde Moore.
  10. I have no sympathy for people that let themselves get that big. I think once you get to about 300, it's time to put down the triple cheeseburger.
  11. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Watch the kid run at the bottom of the screen I thought dude was gonna hit a miraculous shot to win the game. LOL. That was funny as hell.
  12. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) I remember reading that the plan may be to get Thome two starts a week at first base but I don't really see that happening. I see maybe one start a week at the most. That sounds about right. Ozzie is no fool. Our entire season revolves around Thome being healthy. No sense in risking his health to play a position that we're already set at.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) If he doesn't walk people, he's unbeatable. That was the rule all year last year, with only 1 exception. By the way, we want to talk something that could balance out a weaker year from the bullpen...how about a stronger 1st half from Jose now that he seems to just be throwing strikes? That could be 5-7 more wins right there. Not to mention the 75-90 extra innings will get from Vazquez compared to what Duque gave us.
  14. Welcome to the board. You'll love it here. Oh, yeah, expect to catch a lot of flak for that name you have. Timo is to Soxtalk what Osama Bin Laden is to New York.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) If we haven't traded Jose yet...we're not going to. Especially not if he keeps up the way he's pitching right now into the first half of the season. I agree. If the spring has been any indication, Jose is primed for a 20 win season. He looks outstanding so far. I don't think he's walked one batter all spring.
  16. Not at all pretty, but a good game so far. OSU is in trouble if Marco gets going.
  17. Did this really need a poll? Welcome to the board anyway.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) We've had two straight seasons where our closer (Shingo/Hermanson) pitched out of their minds. Both of them were amazing during their closer stretch during their particular season, and I think we took them for granted. I'm confident Jenks will do well, and I don't anticipate Koch Jr. Jenks would have to lose about 10mph off his fastball to be Koch the sequel.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) A team that plays defense like Wake can make just about anybody look good on offense. If Duke beats the BC/UNC winner tomorrow, then I'll be impressed. True. I'm just saying that's when they're at their best.
  20. IU should feel pretty good about themselves right now considering Marco has done nothing. Wilmont and Strickland have carried the load so far.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) His back might not be a problem, but his 82 MPH fastball is. 82? Unless I've missed something, it hasn't been that low. There's obviously a slight dip in his velocity at the moment. But he's been quoted as saying he's building himself back up. If his velocity isn't where it was last year in 3 weeks, I'd worry.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) Well, yah, I think it is safe to say that if Hermy is hurt, KW won't go with a 5 man bullpen. It's quite apparent that somebody will ahve to go in there if Hermanson is hurt. Might have to be a minor leaguer though. Our funds are stretched thin. Hermanson has said more than once that his back is no longer a problem. Take it as you will.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) Uh.. it is Spring Training right now.. I meant to say the end of spring training.
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Nothing is guaranteed. But considering some of the money the White Sox have thrown around this off season, its pretty incredible to me no money was thrown at the bullpen. Bullpen performances have been known for their fluxuation from year to year. KW at Soxfest spoke about how strong he thought the bullpen would be. I hope he's right, but I disagree with him if he's going with what he's got. Kenny did recently say that he was gonna wait until spring training to see where Dustin is at and evaluate from there. I took that as him probably going out and makin a move if he doesn't feel Hermy is at or close to 100%.
