The company I work with has begun pushing Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement as it's sometimes referred to so as not to scare people. Sometimes Lean is associated with RIFs and production curtailing, but we're more focused on waste reduction and improving processes. I don't have a lot of experience with it aside from a conference last year and some internal training. However, I've been designated as the coordinator for our efforts. Anyone out there have any experience with Lean or even Six Sigma? Any success stories?

For me, Portillos has the best Italian beef, and their cheeseburgers are damn good, too. There's a smashburger in Bolingbrook, and we've been there a few times. Their burgers are pretty good, but I've had better. One place I haven't been to in a long time is Shoops. I remember their burgers being quite tasty. I think there are several locations.

I DVR'd The Firm and have been watching it for the past week or so. I'm liking it. However, unless things change, it could have just been any legal show with any characters. The show takes place 10 years after the movie timeline, and although there are mentions of Mitch McDeere's past troubles, the show is more about him getting involved in another conspiracy while taking care of other cases.

Reading the responses, it seems like there are two trains of thought when it comes to the least favorite/most hated player. On one hand you have someone who's just been a dissapointment and contributed nothing. On the other hand you have someone who just comes off as an asshole no matter what type of contribution. It would be easy to say Dunn, Rios, or Peavy (that's for you greg) because they have been big dissapointments so far. Of those three, only Rios comes off as being any sort of asshole, mainly because it seems like he doesn't care. I personally couldn't say Dunn or Peavy have been my least favorites. Rios...maybe. If you're talking about biggest dissapointments, how about Todd Ritchie, Billy Koch, David Wells, Swisher, Teahen... Now if you're talking about assholes, I can't think of many. But since I've been a Sox fan I'd say Wells, Paniagua, the second coming of Colon...

There are a ton of ifs here. If Dunn has a career normal year. If Rios rebounds to respectable numbers. If Peavy is healthy. If Sale takes to being a starter. If Viciedo... If most (or all) of those ifs pans out, sure the Sox could contend. But what are the chances? Who knows. What were the chances that Dunn would have such a terrible year, Rios would Suck, Peavy would get hurt, and Ozzie would lose interest in managing? But all of that happened, so again who knows. I for one am looking forward to the season, and I'll be cheering, swearing, complaining, and cheering again.
