QUOTE(Art Vandalay @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) All Sox fans... COME ON!!! I'm one of you. But get with it. If that call goes against us instead of for us, to lose a game no less, then you guys are crying a river about how you got screwed and there's no way that ball wasn't caught!! It's funny to see you guys rationalize what was obviously a blown call and try every way to explain that the umpire made the correct call. Watch the news conference with the umps - it's clear that they know they blew it!! java script:emoticon(':bang') smilie Puh-leeze. java script:emoticon(':chair') smilie do you think it's possible that some of us may in fact believe it's the right call? or do you think that it's possible that we realize we got a break and we're happy about it because we won the freakin game? honestly - they won game one and they shouldnt have, and we won game 2 and we shouldnt have. reverse it and it's still 1-1

i've got my good ole 1983 hat that is gross and nasty and i love it. i also have an authentic plain black but i dont really wear it... more a decoration thing. and i just got my new division series hat (FINALLY) and now i'm gonna sport it (i think - barring any meltdowns) for the rest of the playoffs. i used to have a charlotte knights hat - it was freakin sweet... but it got pretty much destroyed... sigh...

seriously after looking at that still pic how can you possibly argue that it DIDNT hit the ground?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) To be honest..no. I'm so confident right now after todays win. If we can somehow get fridays game I think we would have just put ourselves in such amazing shape. We'd go up 2-1 guaranteeing a trip back to chicago and guaranteeing that with needing 2 wins we'd have Jose and Mark both to go if it came to that. Friday's game would just be so huge for this team to win. oh i agree, but if it came down to jon garland game 7 i'd piss myself. sure he's been great this year but i dont know about the pressure...

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) There's not really anything we'd be able to do unless it would be to move freddy up a day which I doubt happens. If we go to a game 7 it will be Jon. thats kinda scary innit?

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) Rowand should have never... EVAR been sent in the first place. Crede was the dumbass hanging way too far off the base. Am i the only one that thought the strike zone was pretty damn for both sides today? Either way the sox screwed themselves on both of the two plays mentioned. agree 100% oh and how bout scotty not executing... again. it's so weird that he had the best BA on the team but it always always seems like he gets out more often than the others...

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) To answer your question, the batter would be out on strike three when the umpire says "You're Out!". That would be the difference. He didn't make that call on A. J. in truth it is all about what the ump says verbally. only problem is that in the REAL game of baseball a lot of the calls go unsaid. ie every play at first base for example. one begins to rely on the signals and in that dept. the ump really f***ed up.
-
QUOTE(Spiff @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) well apparently you didnt see a replay yet, because it appears as though he didnt go around. f*** replays. this should be a human game - not a computer one. lol yeah you're right i havent seen the replays but from where i was it REALLY looked like he went. obviously i could be wrong.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:06 AM) By the same logic, if he does the same motion on strike three swinging calls and the batter is out (without any additional motion), how can it not mean strike three swining the batter is out. ESPN showed this a bunch of times. Also, again...on the Molina at bat, he did NOT signal a fist after he swung through a strike three and the ball hit the dirt. He waited til AJ tagged him, then did the fist, quite obviously for the out at that point. krush i agree with you. horrible job by the ump. but as an ump myself (granted for babe ruth baseball) i empathize with the dude. i once made a call at home where i yelled SAFE (cuz he was) but punched my fist like i was calling out... needless to say chaos ensued. difference is i wasnt getting paid s***loads and i wasnt doing the MLB playoffs...

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:06 AM) It's Jose for me still. That being said if we do go to a game 7 in this series it's going to be Jon. if the rotation stays the same. i think it's all contingent on jon's performance tomorrow
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:56 AM) The only questionable one was Pauly's check swing, the other two were clearly called correctly. no it wasnt. i was in the upper deck with a perfect view of whether the guys went around or didnt... i would've called the same thing. i knew he went the moment it happened, didnt need the ump to say anything. side note: i think it's funny as hell when the crowd boos a really good call if it goes against us... IMO just sit down, shut up and deal with it. this is baseball - unfortunately it has rules.
-
gotta be Mark. It wont be contreras because he's going game 5. but we've yet to see Jon in the post season and i dont really trust Freddy alllll that much. Mark is the anchor of our staff and he's my man if it came to that.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) You're kidding...they actually played that at the ballpark tonight?!? Man, my song lyrics are infecting the whole club! they actually did. when i heard it i was just like "no way... no way... HOLY s***" then i started dancing... it's a sad fact but it's true.
-
by the way - i was so f***ing stoked when they played "holding out for a hero" i was like "SOXTALK! RALLY CREDE!" it got me sooo pumped!
-
two words from a guy who watched it, and these words are what i was muttering to myself during his at bat: RALLY CREDE!!!! it lives you f***ing haters!

QUOTE(mkalk @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) This cartoon was on the front page of today's Des Moines Register. Just thought I'd share it. lol love it cept for one thing... its sorta insinuating that curse thing again... but oh well - i guess thats what we're gonna have to live with from now on
-
i just realized something! it's a f***ing good thing we lost last night. see if you can spot a trend: we came into the season w/ everyone expecting a 4th place finish: we were the best in the AL everyone expected cleveland to overtake us: we won everyone expects Boston to crush us: we sweep now what happens when we're favored? we lose game 1 we ALWAYS do well when were the underdog. now, with a game one loss, we're the underdog yet again. so we're bound to win this thing baby!
-
if i were going to suck blood, it wouldnt be from the thumb or nose... i dunno... dont seem like areas that get desirable amounts of blood flow. Try the neck maybe? although that'd kill her probably... what about the arm? yeah i think that's what i'd choose.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Nobody sweeps through the playoffs. Take it one game at a time. on that we can agree my friend.

going to the game tomorrow night and i'm stoked. we're gonna have some work to do tomorrow!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) You need to see washburns away game splits. Buerhle vs Washburn is more of a mix and match than the Count vs Freakin Paul Byrd. i only say that because of washburns illness/elbow
