QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) This game makes me nervous...kinda seems like it's being taken for granted or something - not sure what it is...just scared. STEP IT UP JOSE i dont think its taken for granted - i think we've got a dominating starter who, if he has his right stuff, outmatches the Angels offense (which is worse than bostons obviously). We also are facing a guy in Byrd who gave up 5 runs to the yanks in his start and who we've had success against in the past. Theres no reason not to be optimistic but at the same time, you're right it should NOT be taken for granted. This is baseball folks - anything can happen.

QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) i heard he was completely off the rostor? if so - angels dont look to good (pitching wise) this makes me excited but we shouldnt get ahead of ourselves. they'll still be a tough team to beat. this just gives us another advantage.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) I like our chances even if the Angels were at full strength, that being said don't count out the angels and anything can happen. liking our chances doesnt mean i'm counting the angels out. they've got some magic over there and somehow they can manage to pull the same things out of their asses as we can. we're similar ballclubs, anything can happen. that being said we're gonna kick their ASSES!

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) Agreed. Wouldn't even meet the low threshhold of a quality start, and his season ERA was better than that performance. He gave up 8 baserunners in those 5 1/3 innings - he's lucky the Yankees didn't toast him and that Matsui is a huge choker. If the Angels as a team have a 5.03 ERA and 1.5 WHIP like Santana did in his "Great" performance last night against the Sox, they are screwed. If Crosby and Sheffield don't collide, or if Sheffield holds on, everyone would be talking about Jeter's home run in the 7th (assuming the Yankees went on to win) off of Santana and how great Jeter is, and how great Randy Johnson is. Thank goodness for Bubba Crosby! i dont really put the blame on crosby is that situation cuz sheffield was leaping for the ball while crosby was about to catch it on the ground... plus hes the CF and has the right of way... but either way the result was a good one!

Basically we're facing: Byrd (5 runs last outing) Gregg (not a starter) Escobar (not a starter) Santana (rookie) Washburn (sick) Lackey how can you NOT like our chances?

QUOTE(mkalk @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) What about those of us who can't legally buy alcohol? What do we do? alcohol. lots of alcohol

in a short series it was ok to leave him out - our pitching was good enough. in a 7 game series though i'm wishing we had another starter out of the pen, or someone who could even start if the need (god forbid) arose like what's happening with the Angels right now. I see no need to have Marte and there are many situations where BMAC would be useful... this decision doesnt make sense to me.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) Whoever advances will certainly have some adrenaline tomorrow night though coming off the win tonight. killed by the red-eye flight and the fact that whoever it is has a s***ty pitcher (or at least one thats going to pitch s***tily) going against us tomorrow.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) I was watching the game at a friends house who isn't a baseball fan so I was just celebrating amongst myself in silence and fist pumps i think he was looking for other good stories... -
NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!!! i say thats Bubba's ball even tho they're saying Sheff. CF has the priority over the RF
-
even if the yanks win we face WRIGHT tomorrow. f***ing YES!!!
-
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) get santana's pitch count up, bring in Byrd, burn him too, then rally late for the win! They'll have to use Lackey on short rest (again) or give Escobar a start or go with an ill washburn. that makes me positively giddy!
-
Angels warming Byrd. move him back in the rotation as well! haha i hope the angels win
-
god i want the angels to win!!! Byrd warming - they'd be f***ED against us!
-
1-0 Yanks

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) wow. so if they happen to win this game, what the hell will their rotation be? will they slip escobar into the rotation? gm 1 -- wash gm 2 -- byrd gm3 -- lackey? gm4 -- escobar/santana? gm5 -- wash gm 6 -- byrd gm7-- lackey on 3 days rest yummy
-
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) They say that everyone but Lackey is available but there has been no definitive statement about Washburn being ready. If he is, I think he'd either be in already or he will start the 3rd or 4th inning if he were ready theres no doubt in my mind that he's in right now instead of the rookie santana...
-
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Re injures his back in the 2nd inning... Santana in, advantage to the Yankees!!! aka advantage US!
-
so as far as improving offense... what do you do? we need basically just a DH... and MAYBE a 3B/SS (Furcal would be amazing) but aside from a DH theres nothing we really glaringly NEED is there?
