  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 04:29 PM) Im surprised you dont think this will get flipped. Im also kind of surprised you seemingly arent mad at the guilty verdict with the hearsay evidence presented I cant get mad about something I dont know. Without actually knowing what happened, it would just be a knee jerk reaction. Hearsay is arguably one of the most difficult aspects of evidence, so I really dont know whether or not it was a good ruling or a bad ruling. The hearsay evidence is something that could work on appeal as that would be a question of law. I have no idea whether it will get reversed. What I do know is that there are many people wrongfully convicted every year, and very few of them get it overturned on appeal.
  2. All of my comments are throwaway on this issue because I dont know any of the evidence. That being said if they are going to attack the verdict I doubt it will be based on how much evidence there was. In order for the appellate court to overturn merely on evidence (as opposed to law) the standard is manifest weight of the evidence. Which basically means unless no one could have found Peterson guilty the verdict stands. If they appeal based on law, its de novo (the court can look at anything), so the standard is much lower. The appeal is going to be rough regardless, a lot of criminals who have been wrongfully convicted couldnt even win. It took exculpatory evidence to finally get them free. And this wasnt a direct response to anyone, more just a comment on the potential appeal process, as I know some of you fully well understand it and dont need me to tell you the standards of review.
  3. Whenever I think of heaven I think of this, courtesy of Biggie via Suicidal Thoughts When I die, f*** it I wanna go to hell 'Cause I'm a piece of s***, it ain't hard to f***in' tell It don't make sense, goin' to heaven wit the goodie-goodies Dressed in white, I like black Tims and black hoodies God will probably have me on some real strict s*** No sleepin' all day, no gettin' my dick licked Hangin' with the goodie-goodies loungin' in paradise f*** that s***, I wanna tote guns and shoot dice
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) I will join TAP with you. Woot we are already twice as strong as this morning. Our headline will be: The American Party, factually the fastest growing party in America. Fact check that you anti-American bastards.
  5. My side doesnt suck. The American Party (TM pending), or TAP, does not suck. If you think it sucks, your anti-American.
  6. The candidates arent something we can change. They were voted on by the American people. So you may think they are awful, but they beat out the rest of the competition. The problem is that politicians are warped and voters dont seem to care. Instead of voting for people who might make a real difference, they are forced into the box of voting Republican or Democrat. Dont blame me, I voted for Kodos.
  7. I also have Bradshaw. People are going to figure out we are really just 1 person with multiple personalities.
  8. Ive got Toby and Im going to be starting him with confidence.
  9. Honestly the first place this needs to start is just with regular everyday people. The Republican party has faults, the Democratic party has just as many. Instead of pretending that your party, whoever it may be, is better, perhaps we need to start by agreeing that neither are good.
  10. I sincerely doubt that will happen. Dez Bryant is a freak show who should be getting almost all end zone passes. The real problem is that if they come out in the red zone in I form, pro-set, 2 te, Ogletree most likely wont even be on the field. Right now starting Ogletree is nothing more than gambling. Stash him on the bench if you have a free spot, but in most leagues there should be other tempting choices.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) Don't fall for it. Republicans won't work with Democrats, and Democrats won't work with Republicans. Rinse, repeat, give up on the government working for the people instead of for their own interests. That is just not true. Not everyone is a dick, some people understand that through cooperation you can get a mutually beneficial solution, that would have been impossible but for working together. The problem is that divisiveness sells and its easier to blame someone else then to try and fix things. It will get better, we shall persevere.
  12. And your league needs to be pretty deep to consider 3rd wrs, especially as Romo isnt going to put up Brady/Brees numbers
  13. If you have Bradshaw you should be extremely pleased that Wilson fumbled so early. Coughlin hates fumbles and it looked like Wilson was going to get a good amount of touches. If you are in a deep league you may want to try and get Wilson now while his value is terrible to either stash as a handcuff or to double up on the Giants rbs.
  14. Ill never know what it was like to live back in the 60s when my favorite rock bands were new, but a consolation is that I was alive in the 90s and was able to experience the best rappers. Its just strange, 20 years later and there are some good ones, but they just cant touch the legends.
  15. Why do you care what I think? Do you think your god would judge me based on my belief or based on my action? Id rather do good things with no belief, than do bad things with.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) It is despicable. I wish those Republicans would all lose their jobs. But I find it impossible to believe there aren't ways to get some of this stuff passed. Isn't that part of the game of politics? Convincing/lobbying the other side? If it is impossible, I guess we're all doomed. Cause four more years of this same s*** is going to cripple everybody. I could see a Depression, not a recession. Too many people out of work and/or having their pay slashed. There is always a reckoning. It happened with McCarthy it will happen to these Republicans. You cant have people signing pledges to never raise taxes, you cant have ideologues, you need reasonableness. Imagine running a business where you pledge that you will never ever raise prices and that if you do raise prices some douche named Grover will try and ruin you. Thats just bush league, I cant even stand it.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:09 PM) So there's no hope? It will be hopeless forever? How did Reagan do it? How did some of the others do it? I am no Poly Sci expert but I do recall a bit throughout history of the President meeting with certain leaders on the other side regarding specific issues, sort of like when the President of the US meets with leaders of other countries. It's about stroking egos and making the public realize that Obama just met with Republican leader so and so and if so and so flat out refuses to help, at least he gets the bad press that goes with it. Politics is a game like anything else. So Kev211, are you saying it's hopeless and the next four years will be more of the same? Obama getting blocked at every juncture with his having NO HOPE of getting anything passed? Great I guess we're all doomed. I'm not saying you are wrong; I'm saying this problem seems to have gotten worse. If it's ALL the Republicans' fault, then f*** them. They are ruining our great country; if there's any hope of changing it, Obama better get to work. It was a different time. People used to care about America, now they just care about winning. Sorry I didnt watch any of the convention, I went out, got drunk and watched football surrounded by college girls. Not my proudest moment, but damn if it wasnt fun. I love the US, I am willing to compromise, but its a 2 way street.
  18. I saw it for a brief moment, I think it referred to god and jerusalem? First instinct is I obviously hate it, but I gotta look into it.
  19. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 05:30 PM) I've never known him to have a source... Me either which is why either he completely went out of character and threw something against the wall, or he randomly got some inside information and decided to share it in a way that could never be traced.
  20. I dont think Ive ever seen Jenks just randomly throw s*** out there...
  21. Times like these are when Im glad my stance on steroids/ped etc has always been, I dont really care. I expect people to cheat to win, its up to MLB to catch them in the act. Since all we have is circumstantial evidence Ill just wait and see.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Please watch it Badger. I want to see your review because it's going to be the only one that doesn't proclaim it the best speech since Kennedy. Oh there will be comparisons to the greatest speeches of all time. This one will be right up there. The word "trust" will be in it a lot. I would think he'd have a catch phrase like "let me complete the deal!" but that might have some sexual innuendo so he probably can't go there. He'll come up with some good catch phrases. It can't be "change" however. We know that. I may depends on if I go to a bar to watch football and if that bar has the speech or not. Its just not that exciting for me. The speech is going to be canned and dull. If I had to write it, Id say that there are a few themes Id touch on. 1) Bad things happen, the test is those who can keep their heads while bad things happen. Anyone can do something while things are going good, but it takes someone truly remarkable to lead during times of trouble. 2) Now is not a time for a course correction. Cliche, ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Unfortunately the predecessor did not believe this and now America is stuck with a much larger problem. 3) Social issues. Immigration The New Colossus Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" I just wanted to put that in there because that is an example of killing it. 4) Social issues. Gay rights Freedom freedom and more freedom. We sit on a historical precipice, will we be viewed as those who fell to bigotry, or will we leave an enduring legacy of equality. (Enduring legacy of equality is a pretty catchy phrase.) 5) Attack Romney. I like to leave this close to the end. If its me, I attack Romney in a circuitous route, going after his indecisiveness. America does not need a President who cant stay on course, he who hesitates is lost. 6) Make love to the audience. This is where I break out things like "You are the greatest generation" and "Now it is time for America to stand together as one and show the world our might", or quoting a great Republican "A house divided agaisnt itself can not stand, now is the time to unite, THUNDER CATS HOOOOO" End with thumbs up to unknown people in crowd, point and smile, walk around like you owned it, theme music plays, curtains. And that is that.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) p.s. The easiest prediction in America is ALL media PUNDITS will be proclaiming Barack's speech one of the best of all time. It doesn't matter what he says; they are Democrats; they are about to give the biggest slobber since his last convention speech. Only this one???? It will be magical; it will unify America; it will bring tears to everybody's eyes. The best speech in history is coming up Thursday folks. Eh hell be lucky if he gets a 5/10 from me (although to be fair I doubt I will watch.) I dont really like Obama's public speaking style, its too vanilla and rehearsed. But then again in the age of the teleprompter you have to kill it for me to really respect the speech. A great speech should come from within, you can prepare, but in the moment you have to feel the environment and make them believe. You just can not effectively do that if you have pre-written the entire speech. There just is no way to feel the response and build on it.
  24. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) Unless we're both crazy, I think you're right because I remember the same thing. There was another board/site that we migrated from. Soxnet.net was somewhere in there. Can't remember if it was before or after the Soxtalk.com name was given to this board. Yep there was absolutely another board. Some how during the transfer account order was reversed which is why Im the "14th" member, even though I joined later than some other people. For example, Chisoxfn is member 127. The irony of being #14 and it being connected to Konerko now, is that my first post ever was about how I thought the Sox should trade Konerko for Russ Ortiz and sign D. Ortiz from Minnesota. I dont exactly remember how I found this site. I was at school in Wisconsin and looking for some White Sox stuff online. I read the Whitesox.com message boards and some how ended up here. I stayed here because it was way better than those boards. Ive never read WSI in my life. I will say after 10 years it is nice to be member 14.
  25. Ha I know hence my joke And the your picks are still controversial.
