2012-2013 NCAA Basketball thread

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 06:00 PM) The point was, most coaches, teams, and fans frown upon this stuff outside of college football. You saw the backlash with Sampson. I was merely pointing out that Mr. Ryan isn't the saint he's made out to be. I realize Uthoff was not recruited by Indiana, but you keep making it a point to say that teams "badgered" him into leaving Wisconsin, yet that is clearly against NCAA rules and no NCAA action was ever taken. I don't consider "following up on a players commitment" to be contacting him for 2 weeks straight until Luke finally contacts Indiana based basketball websites to get his story out so that Wisconsin will leave him alone... Where did I say anyone badgered Uthoff to leave? Seriously quit putting words in my mouth. I dont care Uthoff left. I cared that people were upset Bo Ryan didnt want him to get a scholarship to another Big 10 school. You are ridiculous, seriously. Let me make this very clear, if it wasnt Tom Crean, I doubt Bo Ryan would do it. But because of a long long history between them, Im pretty sure Bo Ryan could give a flying f*** about Tom Crean's feelings. Its funny you act like Fischer is a victim, its on Wisconsin sites that Wisconsin reached out to him to gauge his interest. That being said, Wisconsin never even offered him a scholarship, woe is mother f***ing me. Do I think Tom Crean called Gary Harris after he committed to MSU? Yep. What would I think if Tom Crean didnt call Gary Harris? Hes an idiot. Sorry, I dont really see what your point is. -

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:51 PM) And Indiana history includes a coach that was fired 5 years ago. Please, which players from Wisconsin has Tom Crean continued to recruit at Indiana?? Like I said, Tom Crean didn't recruit Uthoff while he was at Wisconsin, and it was never proven anyone else did either. Where did I say that Tom Crean recruited Uthoff? Uthoff was on scholarship from Wisconsin. Wisconsin had paid Uthoff's tuition for 1 year. How is this comparable to a player who is still in High School? I dont know what players Tom Crean has continued to recruit, I assume Tom Crean and every other coach in NCAA continues recruiting players until the final day of signing. I dont get upset that coaches are doing their job and following up with players to see how committed they are. You have no point, this is one of the worst trolls of all time. (edit) And I wouldnt even know how Crean could still be recruiting, he already over-signs most of his classes. Which is probably why Bo Ryan contacted Fischer, you know after Patterson lost his scholarship right before the season started. -

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) Hey like I said, different situation, same concept. I don't remember seeing any official ruling that Uthoff had been contacted by other schools while at UW, or there would have been NCAA action. Wisconsin didn't offer, but they are sure pushing for him now after he had a very, very good summer. All I'm saying is that many Wisconsin fans think Crean is as slimy as Cal, yet their own coach is out there recruiting committed players. Badger nation would be tripping over themselves running to Bloomington with torches if this were the other way around. No they wouldnt. Wisconsin has lost committed players before. The situations are not comparable at all. Tom Crean has recruited Wisconsin players after they committed before, so why would Ryan not recruit Crean players? It would be completely negligent and derelict on his part. Furthermore, Indiana has a history (see Eric Gordon) of recruiting players already committed in the Big 10. Again why would Wisconsin let Indiana do it, and not do it themselves? It would be complete stupidity. How is it the same concept? Why dont you show me a comparable situation, where Bo Ryan recruited a player who red-shirted for another Big 10 team and that player then went to Wisconsin on scholarship. Otherwise its nothing more than a troll, and I hope that every Illinois fan destroys you for this hypocritical nonsense. Only the worst homer Hoosier fan would complain about this, its sad actually. -

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:16 PM) Not to rehash the Uthoff situation, but remember when Badger fans were crying foul that there was "meddling" while Uthoff was with Wisconsin by other teams (and then obviously Bo blocked him from going everywhere, until the media picked it up).. Well, situation is a little different as a letter of intent hasn't been signed (but still the same concept), but Ryan the Badger staff have apparently been poking around and hitting up Luke Fischer the past few weeks, though Luke continues to tell them he's committed to Indiana... Remember when Luke Fischer red-shirted for Indiana and was actually on the Indiana team? Oh wait you are talking about a guy who hasnt even stepped foot on Indiana campus? Nice troll, you get upset when Indiana got Eric Gordon? Because Eric Gordon is comparable to Luke Fischer. Uthoff would be comparable to Wisconsin trying to get Zeller to leave. Can you understand the difference? (edit) And that is just me presuming its true, Im not even sure Wisconsin ever offered him. -
Well Davis didnt do amazing defense against the few legit C prospects he played. Zeller had a decent game 2x ( game 1 Zeller went 11 pts-7 rebounds compared to Davis 6pts -9 rebounds, game 2 Zeller 20pts-7rebounds, Davis 9pts-12 rebounds), Thomas Robinson had a good game (18pts 17 rebounds, but on 6-17 shooting, Davis 6pts 16 rebounds), so I just am not sure where a lot of this is coming from. The guy made spectacular plays, but he didnt exactly dominate the other guys who have potential to be lottery Centers. Its going to be a drastic jump to the NBA.
-
I dont remember exactly what I predicted, Im guessing something like 12-8?, but Tim Duncan only did 21-12 his first year and he was way more developed than Davis. Davis only averaged 14 points 10 rebounds in college, Duncan was 20/14 his last year. I just am not sure how Davis is going to get considerably more points, he has a lot of work to do on the offensive end.

Did you check to make sure it wasnt December 2013?

I said this early on and I still stand by it, Paterno was used to deflect focus. You offer up a sacrificial lamb and you hope that satisfies the blood lust. Something really bad happened, Im not sure if anyone will ever get to the bottom.

Its not just because hes famous and fast, its because he had a pretty ridiculous rate of conversion for Florida. I never liked him as a QB, even back when he was at Nease High (they played Hoover back when Hoover had a television show so I saw him) but the guy was pretty effective. I see no problem with Tebow being used inside the 10 yard line. Its just like bush being used over Forte. Different guys, different roles. The problem is when you start to think of Tebow as a real qb, instead of a gimmick.

I liked when Jesse would just start drinking water whenever Skylar said something awkward. Walts a megalomaniac, I think the Grey Matter stuff is to show that Walt has had self-destructive tendencies before. He rationalizes his decisions, but reading between the lines I think it was another, his way or the high way stance, and he thought that without him Grey Matter wouldnt work. Sound familiar?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) With the way that Walt is now, he will demand they work for him. Im pretty sure that is how things are going to go bad. Walt keeps wanting more, the new guys just say screw it.
-
If I had to guess, its going to involve the new syndicate we were introduced to. I sincerely doubt they are just going to try and steal the $10mil from them, so my guess is that Walter is going to offer to work for them, in exchange for buying out his 2 partners for $10mil. By working with the new syndicate, Walt will fix his distribution problems and still be able to create his empire. The only problem is Walt seemingly doesnt know his place anymore.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 07:18 PM) This is why you're a sheep, sheep. Or more like an ostrich. Damn near every day the main stream dorkasses told us how many died because BUSH was our commander in chief. BO has "that same blood" (sic) on his hands, yet we never hear about it now... gee, I wonder why? Whatever. You see what you want to see and hear what you want to hear. Of course it's "a random fact" to you in your world. Who listens to what mainstream television has to tell them? The fact you actually care about what mainstream media has to say is what the term sheep was coined for. I dont care what NBC, FOX or any other stupid outlet says. They are all out there for themselves, making money for themselves, pushing their own agenda. Liberal, Conservative, whatever, its not my agenda, I dont care what they have to say quite honestly.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 02:36 PM) Russia lost the most in WW2. Thats the point, ask a random question, some will know, some wont. Its not a media conspiracy, its just a random fact. The only reason I used that one is because I was talking about it in that Brokaw thread.
-
QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) Without googling. How many killed in Afghanistan since BO took office? I dont know how many were killed under Bush so what is the relevance of the question? The only way this question matters is if somehow I couldnt find the facts for Obama but I could for Bush. But since I doubt thats the case it really doesnt matter. Its like asking other random questions: Without looking what country lost the most soldiers in World War II? Without looking how many people lived in Vietnam at the start of the Vietnam War? Without looking what is Barry Bonds highest OPS? Do you think if people cant answer those questions its because of some sort of Liberal media conspiracy? Or do you think its because people dont remember random facts. Remembering facts is a useless waste of brain power, if you need a fact, look it up. Even if you know it, the best policy is to still confirm. So really what is the point of this post?

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 04:15 AM) Not sure what that means It was a pretty simple equation. haha

Even with current technology its probably close to doable just with a high risk. Without a cold war enemy most people in the US just dont seem to care that we are falling behind on science investment.

I dont watch ads, especially political ones, so I wouldnt know.

I read that article thinking your comments were somehow related, but they werent.

I always buy madden regardless. So whether its good or bad they get my $60

Game play is always up and down, I generally just care that they make franchise more fun. Contract negotiation was ridiculous. Its a freaking video game just tell me what they want, i cant imagine anyone has fun increasing the salary by 10k to get the player at the cheapest value.
-
1% is almost irrelevant given sample size and error margin. Its 10-11 more people saying Romney over Obama, and without knowing where the calls were, it could be good or bad for Obama. Romney should just stay away from curtailing to the youth, they arent reliable voters.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) Well, Sandusky took kids to NCAA bowl games...the entire basis for Sandusky being able to do this revolved around the fact that he coached at an NCAA Division 1 football school. It has everything to do with the NCAA... That is an extreme reach. He wasnt taking these kids to bowl games to recruit them to PSU, he was taking them to commit sodomy, which is a crime in the United States. This in comparison to boosters, illegal benefits, illegal contact, which the NCAA generally governs, because it is not against US law. I really dont care that much to be honest.

Wisconsin and MSU could swap.
