Scottie Pippen on comcast
hammerhead johnson replied to rangercal's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) many people never really noticed because of MJ. Yeah, but nobody cares what a bunch of dumbass casual NBA fans think. I don't think there's any question that he's the greatest defensive SF since the merger. No Pippen, no championships. -
Scottie Pippen on comcast
hammerhead johnson replied to rangercal's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Pippen gets what he deserves for being such a jerkoff on a personal level. There are just way too many examples...I wouldn't know where to start. But he's still one of my 5 favorite players of all time. -
LMAO @ Steve A. Smith

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) I love Stephen A. He tells it like it is. Sometimes he may be wrong but he states the obvious to alot of analysts that don't wanna hear it. That's pretty messed up, man. :headshake He tells it like it is? He's a dumbass militant f***wad. I piss on that loser. -

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:24 AM) B&B are great, if u've never heard Dan Bernstein do his Bruce Webber impersonation, you havent lived. All of Dan's impersonations are hilarious. I think I like the Alan Keyes one the most. Was anyone listening the other day when Terry Boers told Rick Telander to bite him during the transition? -

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) I'm not saying he doesn't know anything about the Bears or football or the Sox...I'm saying he is so stupid that he makes me more stupider when I listen. See, that's the kind of grammar the guy has. Now I dumb. I listen too long. LOL, yeah, but that's all part of the appeal. The strange brand of English that he brings to the table is kick-ass, IMO. -

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) I listened to them for about a year straight, when I shared an office. They certainly have funny moments, but the comedy is always exactly the same. Example, at the end of most interviews, before they ask the last question, they'll say something like, "Answer this last question, we know you have better things to do than talk to a couple dopes like us, but ....blah, blah blah" What I'm saying is their 'comedy' is always the same dumb crap. And Bernstein will read news stories about a guy caught cheating on his wife or something or caught for drugs, and he'll rip into him, like he has never done anything wrong in his life. That's why I'd love for him to get caught smoking crack after work in some back alley, with a toothless hooker. Yeah, but I'll criticize a guy who cheats on his wife, gets caught with cocaine, etc. People like that are the scum of the earth. There's nothing wrong with tearing them a new one. And besides, in a 4 hour show, off-topic segments are few and far between. But if you've given them a chance (as stated), and you're not feeling their humor, that's cool. -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) They are funny. But mostly annoying. They do have good chemistry. They seem to talk about stories that are not the biggest story to talk about. ( I don't want to listen to an entire show about steve alford when the incident happened a long time ago.) There you go. When they rip on Steve, it's a beautiful thing. When they rip on Dusty Baker? OMG. I laugh so hard that it hurts. -

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) And you like Bufone? Holy s***. He's a brainless troll. And that is insulting to trolls. Brainless troll? :headshake I just don't get it. Again, I need some specifics. You've obviously never listened to the Bears post game shows? Buffone can be a riot at times. -

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Boers and Bernstein are phenomenal? They are f***ing morons. They both love to hear themselves talk and think they are so f***ing clever. They are not. Bernstein is the type of guy I want to catch cheating on his wife, because he acts so high and mighty everytime someone gets in trouble. f*** him. Are you Rusty from Stickney? B & B has been getting me through the work day for years. I question whether or not you've ever given them a fair chance. How many LOL moments are there during the course of the average day? I lose count. They are both sharp and funny as f***. Maybe if you give me some specific examples, I'll understand. -

QUOTE(Nokona @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) i lost all respect for J after how he was on Telander's show. He was not the same as he was when he was alone. Although i do like Rick's show alot, J Hood sucked on it. You lost all respect for J on the strength of what? Your reasoning here: He was not the same as he was when he was alone? If anything, he just can't coexist with someone like Rick Telander. Rick ain't cut out for sports radio. He is incredibly dull, he gets flustered all the time, he's doesn't know any one sport particularly well, and he's never said anything that was even remotely funny. I know because I listen every freaking day, and if it wasn't for Buffone, I'd turn the radio off and work in silence. Sports radio has always been and will always be about comedy first and foremost. There's a concept that's lost on most people. -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) How many people agree with me on this. Kevin Wheeler is the best show on 670 right now. And he's not even part of the score! lol I call bulls*** on that. Boers And Bernstein are phenomenal. Rosenbloom and Baum have a kick-ass show on Saturdays. I love Murph...he's a joy to listen to. And people on here criticize Murph for what reason? Because he's a Cubs fan? :rolly -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) Is anyone actually going to give Dwight Howard a chance here? There are definitely some factors worth considering to possibly go for him over Emeka; 1) Shoots 52% from the field, while Okafor shoots 45%. 2) Rebounds are almost the same, while Okafor would get more minutes. 3) Is averaging 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds this month, and 13.9 points and 11.7 rebounds last month. 4) He's not the #1 option on his team like Okafor is. Oh, there's no question about it. Howard and Okafor are above and beyond anyone else in the realistic ROY race. Anyone who questions that is either a Bulls fan, a casual NBA fan who only pays attention to scoring, a dumbass Bulls beat writer looking to sell papers, etc. He has his moments, but when I do my best Ben Gordon impression out on the court, I'm dribbling the ball off my motherf***ing knee-cap. I'm never looking to pass, and when I do, that s*** is never on target. I'm looking to throw up impossible shots over double teams. Guys are burning me left and right when I'm on D. Give me the ROY and 6th Man awards, pretty please? Because I can score! Ooooohhh yeeeeaaaahhhh! I am soooo freaking clutch! Where's my gun? -

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) I have never ever said that the Reds, Pirates and Brewers were better than the Astros last year. You must be mistaking me for someone else. If you can find that post, please show me. Prove it. The Astros thing ain't even that big of a deal. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have brought it up. Lord knows I've had my fair share of piss-poor baseball thoughts. However, when you act like a horse's ass, don't expect people to treat you with respect on here. Read through your comments in this thread to see what I mean. Maybe you couldn't care less, I dunno.

Don't y'all remember in June last year when sox-r-us emphatically stated that the Reds, Pirates, and Brewers were all better than the Astros? Don't waste your time with this joker. To quote Bruce Lee, one must take what is useful and discard what is useless. In the case of sox-r-us, it's all useless. Just put him on ignore.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) I am torn as to whether or not I should start Haren in Baltimore on Thursday. I have contemplated starting him only in home games and in a select few away games (Seattle, Detroit, etc). I now have my eye on Blue Jay starter Gustavo Chacin, who performed very well in his first start & won 18 games last year between AA and AAA. I'm also very intrigued by Kazmir and Brazelton, but they're both so raw... So far, Chacin and Haren are working out great for me. Two starts for Chacin since I acquired him = two wins, no problem. Chacin 19 IP 3 WINS 10 STRIKEOUS 1.42 ERA 0.89 WHIP Haren 19 IP 1 WIN 16 STRIKEOUTS 2.37 ERA 1.16 WHIP -
Ozzie vs. Frank, round one?
hammerhead johnson replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) I don't believe that is what I said. I don't believe Frank should have said "sure" or "play the outfield....". Both can be seen as being selfish and not team oriented. Like he deserves to be in the lineup instead of or more than Carl or Pods. All he had to say, if he was smart, was "That is really not my decision to make. All I can do is get myself into playing condition and work as hard as I can to make Ozzie's decision an easy one and allow me to play as much as possible. I am willing to help this team in any way possible to keep winning. It is not my decision as to where to play Carl or where I should play and how often. I will let Ozzie make those decisions." Is that so hard to do? He made himself seem selfish by saying what he said. That in itself made Ozzie think of years past and why he brought up attitudes of past teams. That is what makes what Ozzie says a very relevant thing to state. I can see your point of view and see why you think what Frank says is very harmless. But I can also see why it would tick off a manager or teammates. No one player is more important than another, and that is the environment Ozzie is trying to create. This team seems to be doing just fine without Frank and even though I think they would be much better with him in the lineup, that does not give him the right to think he is better than either Carl or Pods. By stating that Carl can play the outfield and he should be the everyday DH is the wrong thing to say. It is not the attitude Ozzie wants. And do we really want Carl playing the outfield instead of either Dye or Pods? I sure hope not. We are playing great with the speed and defense game. Why would you want to go back to a team like years past that was all about home runs? This is a great team to watch and one of my favorite teams for a long time now. Sounds like BS to me. It's a stupid f***ing question to begin with. Do you think that you'll be the full-time DH? Hmmm. I don't want a PC Frank. I don't want Frank sounding like a lawyer, politician, comparable scumbag, etc. If people ask you whether or not you think you'll start when you have a lifetime OPS of 1.000, it's not necessarily a bad thing to exhibit a little self-confidence. And their, there, and they're all sound the same. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Wow, everyone has told me their Zoo is overrated. I heard they have just as much as Brookfield......and don't have dolphin shows. The zoos in San Diego and New Orleans put the San Fran zoo to shame, but it's still a kick-ass experience.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:38 AM) The nets guards are gonna be a big time miss match. Jones is no where near the defender he use to be. Throughout his career he has been pretty underated defensively in my opinion. I agree they will get raped by shaq but if they get hot for this series the heat are gonna have some problems. I know a lot of heat fans thought it was gonna be a walk in the park until they heard jefferson may be coming back. Now some of them are getting scared because they know what that trio could do by themselves, you put them all on one team? Dayum. I agree with whoever said jefferson may be rusty but a rusty jefferson is better than anything else they have. They may not click well in the playoffs but next year if they get a big man along side nenad ( he is becoming pretty good with his playing time) they will definitely be a threat. That is if of course jefferson resigns. They have a ton of upside on the perimiter, but I just can't get behind their big men. Krstic is just way too inconsistent right now, although he has a lot of potential. Collins is run of the mill. Uncle Cliffy is a dinosaur. I see them getting obliterated in the paint. I agree about Eddie Jones. He was 1st Team All NBA defense one year, IIRC. That's a crock of s***.
