The guy didn't get here until his late twenties, but he has to be a first ballot hall of famer, no? If he keeps this up for three more years, he's gotta be.....

Oh yeah, and I've already finished three books on the subject over the past month or so: Super System (Doyle Brunson, Mike Caro, etc)) Poker Wisdom Of A Champion (Doyle Brunson) No Limit Texas Hold Em (Daugherty & McEvoy) If you guys know of any other great books on the subject, let me know. There were a s***load to choose from at the Borders on Michigan Avenue. That place is overwhelming.

Oh yeah, the Feds No need to worry, though. I'm a compulsive liar & the Feds know this. We've had plenty of run-ins.

So, today I checked on a full house (Aces over 9s), which, as in the case of the flush, was undoubtedly the best hand on the table at the time (I was dealt an Ace and a Queen of spades when I won with the flush). Another guy went all in with his full house (9s over Aces), and when all was said and done, I won about $25 in profit. I don't recommend that anyone sandbag unless you know for certain that you (1) have the best hand out there and (2) know that your opponent will be betting strong. Obviously, it's going to blow up in your face at times when your opponent checks, but in the long run, sandbagging can be a powerful weapon. And I agree that you guys (danman, cheat, witesoxfan, qwerty, dbaho, etc) should start playing for real money (or higher stakes if you already do), because those soxtalk tournaments were pretty much my only training outside of a few bulls*** games in person & I'm already an above average player because of it.

I started playing with real money just this past Thursday. I checked on a flush, some guy went all in with his Ace high straight, and when all was said and done, I collected $60 in profit. Not bad considering that it was my first day playing for real money.

Rockets Close To Acquiring Mutumbo
hammerhead johnson replied to Xero's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This is a good move for the Rockets in terms of team chemistry. Now you'll have both Patrick Ewing and Dikembe Mutombo, 2/3 of the Georgetown posse, working with Yao Ming. The only thing left to do is to go after Alonzo Mourning (the other 1/3 of the Georgetown posse), and then go to work. I'd love to be a player in that locker room. I just wouldn't talk to Juwan Howard, that's all. -
fantasy football team

Southsideirish, You caught me in a bad mood yesterday, and I'm sorry for the personal attacks. But seriously, Ahman Green had 9 touchdowns altogether in 2002 with a 4.3 per carry average. You can't see a guy with those slightly less than spectacular numbers plus a fumbling problem to boot going at #13 overall? Then he went ahead and had a legendary year in 2003 with 20 touchdowns combined, a 5.3 per carry average, damn near 2000 yards rushing, and very few fumbles after he got rid of the leather (slippery) arm pad thingies. I could see him going #1 overall in a lot of drafts this year, but in the 2003 draft? #13 overall is not that hard to believe. -

I've never really had issues with anyone at soxtalk before. But this guy is a jerkoff. -

Childish? You mean like calling people from my 2003 league dumbasses for letting Ahman Green slip to #13 overall? How childish is that? You have a history of s*** like this, buddy. Don't think that I haven't noticed in my time here. -

Holy Mary Mother Of God, will you at least make an effort to look into these things? Every single mock draft I came across had Green ranked outside of the Top 15. EVERY SINGLE ONE. You are easily the biggest clown on this message board. -

That's right, avoid that post where I discussed how Ahman Green was behind a good 7 running backs in the majority of 2003 fantasy mock drafts. You don't feel like looking into it? Go do an internet search and then contemplate your stupidity afterwards. Like I said, stick to not knowin' things. That's what you do best around here. -

If you were to perform an internet search, you'd find that all of these running backs were listed ahead of him on the majority of 2003 Fantasy Mock Drafts. Jamal Lewis Clinton Portis Ladanian Tomlinson Priest Holmes Shaun Alexander Deuce McAllister Ricky Williams And in some cases: Marshall Faulk Edgerrin James Fred Taylor And that's only running backs...what about the impact QBs and WRs? I guess my real question to you is....why do you have to act like such an ignorant bastard? Sorry for the personal attack, but seriously, you're a dope. -

hammerhead johnson replied to southsideirish's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
Well, I had the #1 and #13 overall picks. That means that in between Tomlinson and Green, selections included Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Ricky Williams, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Deuce McAllister, Priest Holmes, Clinton Portis, Michael Vick, etc. And realistically, Ahman Green was not on a lot of people's radar screens last year as a top 5 back. I had him as second best in the league right after LT, but whatever. That's just what I learned after watching a bunch of Packers games. And those guys that I played with...all accountants, lawyers, real estate agents, etc. At least half of them were probably watching football before you were born. -

And that's good to see, because that guy got chastised to no end when he was with the Steelers. I'm really happy for the guy. -

That's exactly right. I drafted Tomlinson and Green with my first two picks before the season started in 2003, and I absolutely slaughtered everyone in my league (12 teams). I mean, it wasn't even fair. I finished ahead of the second place team by more than 200 points (touchdowns = 6 points). Always, always, always make the running game your #1 priority. -
Wow, never thought I'd have to read bad Gangstarr lyrics on here. I have Keithy E's first three singles in great condition, all from 1987-1988. For those of you who are casual Gangstarr fans, Keithy E was a little known Boston MC who later went on to become the Guru. He peaked in 1991 on the "Step Into The Arena" LP, but afterwards, the lyrics were dummied down significantly. I'm more a fan of golden age era hip hop (1986-1992). I have like 5 or 6 crates of records devoted to that era alone. Yeah, Guru has been writing the same song over and over and over again since 1992. It gets tired after a while.

Chicago Bears Predictions
hammerhead johnson replied to ZoomSlowik's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Draft History 1994-2003 The first 2 cornerbacks chosen in each draft. 1994: Antonio Langham #9, Aaron Glenn #12 1995: Tyrone Poole #22, Ty Law #23 1996: Alex Molden #11, Walt Harris #13 1997: Shawn Springs #3, Bryant Westbrook #5 1998: Charles Woodson #4, Duane Starks #10 1999: Champ Bailey #7, Chris McAllister #10 2000: Deltha O'Neil #15, Rashard Anderson #23 2001: Nate Clements #21, Will Allen #22 2002: Quentin Jammer #5, Roy Williams #8 2003: Terence Newman #5, Marcus Trufant #11 Just draft someone who appears to have the potential to be a shutdown type cornerback. As you can see from the draft history, they're out there. It's very easy to botch a high pick if we're talking about quarterbacks, wide receiveers, and offensive linemen (the latter mostly because of injuries). If we're talking about corner, it's a hit way more often than a miss. "But....nobody is a shutdown corner straight out of college....." That's cool. Nobody ever said that you have to be. It takes time to adjust to the speed of the NFL. -
Chicago Bears Predictions
hammerhead johnson replied to ZoomSlowik's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
There is almost always at least one shutdown cornerback in every draft, and that is who we should select with our high first round pick. And if we get a Top 3 pick, we could probably trade down a spot or two and pick up some extra draft picks in addition to that shutdown corner. We'll have all kinds of options if we finish with a 4-12 record this year. On the other hand, if we go 7-9, we won't be able to land that shutdown cornerback. -

Houston Texans Defense
hammerhead johnson replied to southsideirish's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I noticed that their defense kept them in damn near every game last year. That is a very promising team down there. Too bad that they have to compete with the Colts and Titans, and hell, even the Jaguars, who people are kinda sleeping on from what I can tell. A lot of folks will tell you that either the NFC East or the NFC South is the best division in all of football. I would go as far as to say that the AFC South is just as good as those divisions. Watch the Texans go 1-1 against everyone in that division...I don't think that they'll get swept by anyone. And the Chargers? All Texans games are usually close, but David Carr should provide the difference in the end. -
Happy birthday to one hell of a guy. Cheers.
