Scottie Pippen
hammerhead johnson replied to Jordan4life_2007's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Scottie Pippen is not just merely Top 50. More like Top 25. We are talking about the greatest transition defender ever, and one of the finest perimiter defenders ever. No Pippen, no championships. Only someone who didn't witness it all as it happened would say otherwise. I won't even get started on the fact that he was the only man in the NBA who could dunk on ANYONE in the early-to-mid 90s. Not even Jordan could do what Pippen did to Patrick Ewing...numerous times I might add. Pippen was, as the kids would say, "da bomb". -

I have the Lindy's Season Preview Mag in front of me right now, and here is their Top 10 list of Tackles in the NFL. Top 10 Tackles 1. Jonathan Ogden (96) 2. Orlando Pace (97) 3. Walter Jones (97) 4. Willie Roaf (1st rounder in 93) 5. Flozell Adams 6. Tarik Glenn (97) 7. Willie Anderson (96) 8. Brad Hopkins 9. Kyle Turley (98) 10. John Tait (99) They're not giving enough respect to tackles drafted since 2000. Leonard Davis, Mike Williams, and Robert Gallery will be Top 10 before long. McKinnie and Samuels are pretty damn good. How could Dolphins fans not want one of these guys? -

And what's even more alarming is that their last good defensive pick was in 1998, during the Jimmy Johnson era! What exactly have Wannie and the gang been doing down there for, count em...6 years? Vegetating? These awesome defensive players drafted in between 94 and 98 are getting old.... This is a team that is pretty f***ing far from having a good plan. They need to take this Eric Winston guy from the Miami Hurricanes...I've been reading that he is the finest offensive lineman that Miami has produced in decades? Get him, and go from there. Or you can just adopt another team. -

Both my brain and my research are telling me otherwise. 10 Year Draft History 1995: Tony Boselli T (#2 overall JAX), Ruben Brown G (#14 overall BUF) 1996: Jonathan Ogden T (#4 overall BAL), Willie Anderson T (#10 overall CIN), Pete Kendall G (#21 overall SEA) 1997: Orlando Pace T (#1 overall STL), Walter Jones T (#6 overall SEA), Tarik Glenn T (#19 overall IND) 1998: Kyle Turley T (#7 overall NO), Tra Thomas T (#11 overall PHI), Alan Faneca G (#26 overall PITT) 1999: John Tait T (#14 overall KC), Damien Woody G (#17 overall NE) 2000: Chris Samuels T (#3 overall WASH) 2001: Leonard Davis T (#2 overall ARZ), Steve Hutchinson G (#17 overall SEA) 2002: Mike Williams T (#4 overall BUF), Bryant McKinnie T (#7 overall MIN) 2003: Jordan Gross T (#8 overall CAR) 2004: Robert Gallery T (#2 overall OAK) Every single year...it never fails. -

Those are the top offensive linemen available in next year's draft? They need a Pace/Ogden/Gallery type monstrous offensive tackle IMO. There always seems to be one of those guys available every year. -

Ron Kittle. His 1983 Fleer rookie card was worth close to $40 early on, but by the time his career had ended, it was worth a whopping 25 cents. And the "legendary" Scott Ruffcorn.... :headshake -

Jerry Angelo will botch that pick. He know his defense, and then some. But we'll end up with another Curtis Conway or David Terrell if we go that route. After all, both of those guys were the second WRs taken in their respective drafts IIRC. We're the Bears, you know? George Halas says that it's a no go. Just stick to defense, o-line, and rushing. Those are going to have to be our areas of excellence. Do not, I repeat, do not...attempt to break the mold. -

I feel the same way. I'm in favor of drafting a CB with our 1st Round pick, and a LB with our 2nd Round pick. We also need a new kicker. Edinger has completely lost it. -

I started watching the Sox back in the mid-to-late 80s, so I'd have to say that my choice for most underrated player would have to be Ozzie Guillen. Most overrated player: Ron Kittle. Although I loved the guy.... -

I've never heard of these women: Kiera Knightley A.J. Cook Elisha Cuthbert Kim Smith I need a better indication of what this woman brings to the table: Kristin Kreuk (avatar) But I will take Alba over any of these women: Natalie Portman Reese Witherspoon Cameron Diaz Spears Kournikova Sarah Gellar Heather Graham Alicia Silverstone Jennifer Garner Jessica Simpson Kirsten Dunst Tara Reid Rebecca Romijn-Stamos My ideal woman is a thick brunette. While Alba is not as thick as I would like, they don't come much cuter. -

Holy s***....I honestly don't know what to make of the Jets. I didn't even have them making the playoffs before the season started, although a 9-7 record seemed about right. My playoff teams: Colts, Titans, Chiefs, Broncos, Patriots, Ravens. Considering how awful the Dolphins offense will be in the short term, they should defeat them both times (both games occur within a month of one another). After glancing at their schedule, they should be 5-0 come Week 6, but that 2nd half schedule is gruesome. On a neutral field, I think that they're better (right this minute) than the Bills, Browns, Steelers, and possibly the Rams, but still, those are not easy road games. We'll see how they do. BOLD: Easy victories Sep 12 Cincinnati Won 31-24 Sep 19 @San Diego Won 34-28 Week 3 BYE Oct 3 @Miami 4:15pm Oct 10 Buffalo 4:05pm Oct 17 San Francisco 1:00pm Oct 24 @New England 4:05pm Nov 1 Miami 9:00pm Nov 7 @Buffalo 1:00pm Nov 14 Baltimore 1:00pm Nov 21 @Cleveland 1:00pm Nov 28 @Arizona 4:15pm Dec 5 Houston 1:00pm Dec 12 @Pittsburgh 4:05pm Dec 19 Seattle 1:00pm Dec 26 New England 4:05pm Jan 2 @St. Louis 1:00pm -
Correct. And the last time the Packers lost a season opener to the Bears up in Lambeau was in 1963.

Unbelievable. R.W. McQuarters on Randy moss? R.W. McQuarters on Terrell Owens? Hell, Dez White would scorch R-Dub. That's probably why Jauron and Shoop liked Dez so much: a great "practice" player who probably had R-Dub on him more often than not. It's not even worth watching these games from here on out. Seriously. Why even bother? The entire point was to watch this defense gel, and how in the hell are they going to do that without Brown, Tillman, and Azumah? We have hands down the worst secondary in all of football going into Week 3. Everyone around the nation picked us to go 5-11 or worse before we lost 3/4 of our secondary. We are beyond f***ed. -

Well, I have yet to check out any Bengals action, but the book on them is that their defense is terrible. I honestly can not see the Dolphins beating very good defensive teams like Buffalo or New England this year. Hell, I don't know how they can beat the offense happy Jets either. 0-6 or 1-5 within that division would not surprise me at this point. This time next year, the Dolphins should have either Edgerrin James or Ricky Williams, most likely the former. All that I've been hearing is that Edge wants to go back to Miami. If Gordon works out, they'll have one of the best RB duos in the league. Their high first round pick should be an offensive tackle -- someone like Gallery who is ready to start by Week 1. They should also sign a couple competent offensive linemen on the free agent market. All of that, combined with McMichael, Chambers, Booker, etc, in addition to that Top 5 defense when Bowens is healthy, plus Wannie being gone and a last place schedule could mean.... 10-6 or 11-5. I see the AFC East as the best division in all of football next year with both the Bills and the Jets on the come, plus an NFL powerhouse in New England. Add a revamped Dolphins team to that equation, and you'll have 4 playoff caliber teams in one division with 8-8 or 9-7 being the last place record, perhaps. I thought that the AFC South would be the best division in all of football next year, but something stinks down there in Houston. I don't know what to make of that situation. When you get the Chargers and the Lions as the first two games on your schedule, and you go 0-2 against them....Christ. -
Happy birthday, man!

hammerhead johnson replied to Rowand44's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
They don't have a quarterback or a running back either. And that is hands down the worst o-line in the league. A quick scan of the NFL has me thinking that they're the 31st or 32nd best offense out there. Who's worse? Them or the Cardinals? At least the Cards have Dennis Green. Bowens will come back, and they'll be able to hang in there against most teams. They'll even win a few. But 7 wins would be a stretch at this point.
