  1. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) Not funny. Not funny? That's pretty much the most hilarious thing that I've seen on this site since I returned from hiatus. You're alright, Steve. And don't let any pantywaste tell you otherwise.
  2. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) Oh s***, you're right...since most people have them down as the top contender in the NFC, so should I! Your shtick is getting old. You don't have to have the Giants down as the top contender in the NFC, but when you leave 'em out of the playoff picture altogether, well, you know.... I don't have to say it, right?
  3. QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) I already have money down in Vegas on the Giants winning the Super Bowl..
  4. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) NFC Playoff Teams:Vikings, Falcons, Eagles, Seahawks, Bears, Panthers QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 06:56 PM) NFC: Vikings, Eagles, Seahawks, Saints, Cowboys, Bears The New York Giants have the best offensive line in the NFL. They also have the best defensive line in the NFL. Most people have 'em down as the top super bowl contender in the NFC, and yet, both of you guys have 'em missing the playoffs. Hold on, gotta go find my gun. Seriously though, a lot of this stuff is beyond belief.
  5. Well, what do you wanna hear, man? Do you wanna hear that sometimes I think about eatin' a bullet? HUH? Well, I do! I even got a special bullet for the occasion with a hollow point tip! Make sure it blows the back of my god damn head out and do the job right!
  6. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) I'm amazed you went on as long as you did without blowing your brains out. Especially after the last few posts.
  7. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 06:43 AM) Whatever,f*** the Packers. Do you think you'll get brownie points for talking up the Packers as a supposed Bears fan? You do realize the Bears have beaten them 7 of the last 10 times,right? I ain't buying that they are a really good team,my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Massive fail if your Packers lose this Sunday:D QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) 1. Favre is back in the division. 2. All the hype surrounding GB now that he has to live up to. 3. He has to prove that he isn't a 1 year wonder (mixes with point 2). You guys are both terrific posters.
  8. You guys forced qwerty into early retirement.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 04:14 AM) what's your point? He doesn't really seem to have one. Just massive fail all around.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 12:52 AM) It was also his first full year of starting. He deserves a little bit of slack. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 01:48 AM) I could argue that the pressure will be even higher this year. Here's another thing that I meant to respond to, but I think that my head was getting ready to explode at the time, so I didn't address it. The pressure is gonna be even higher this year, huh? Higher than when he had to replace one of the greatest QBs in NFL history? All I ask is that you think these things through, chief.
  11. Okay, saw your edit. Their defense and and rushing attack left something to be desired in '08. Rodgers was brilliant, though. You couldn't have expected more from a first-year QB.
  12. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 03:47 AM) Just agreeing with whitesoxbrian that Rodgers poor fourth quarter play was the reason for the seven something games lost by 7 poitns or less. It's a team game, though. You can't put that entire load on Rodgers.
  13. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 03:33 AM) Rodgers was horrific in the final minutes of games last year. Who cares? Aaron Rodgers was essentially a rookie last year. Who looks at close-and-late splits for a first-year QB and then starts making definitive assessments based on such crap? I'm gonna print out the stat-sheet and wipe my ass with it.
  14. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 03:26 AM) I might suggest that those Green Bay Packers fans here might go join a Packers forum and feel giddy about your chances this upcoming season. Most people here are from the Chicagoland area and thus Bears fans o_O I'm a Bears fan. Thank god I'm not a complete and utter meathead, though.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 03:31 AM) Borderline...keep it civil please.
  16. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 01:19 AM) Really, we're using 2006 stats? Freddy Garcia was 17-9, 4.53 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 216.1 IP and nearly threw a perfect game in 2006. Perhaps we should make him our #3 starter after Peavy and Buehrle next season? 2006 was Nick Johnson's last healthy season. He was 28 at the time, and he's 31 as of now, so theoretically, his '06 line should offer a pretty good indication as to what he could provide if he were to stay relatively healthy over the next couple of seasons. A hitter generally peaks in between the ages of 27 and 33, or at least it seems like it. And if Nick were relegated to a DH role, he'd have a much better chance of getting 400 to 500 AB. That's the whole key. Now, for coming at me like that, I'm gonna personally attack you via the PMs.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 02:48 AM) I just don't get how people think a 4 win turn-around is going to happen. Wow, you're about as thick-headed as they come if this thread is any indication.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) There's a high "complete collapse" potential there, but if Iverson has any motivation behind him to try to revive his career and maybe HOF hopes... Zach Randolph Rudy Gay Marc Gasol/Hasheem Thabeet Allen Iverson/Mike Conley OJ Mayo That's a pretty darn solid front 7 rotation with some non-terrible bench guys behind them. In the East I'd bet that's a playoff team on paper. Darrell Arthur has a lot of upside on the defensive end, and he's shown that he could also be a force on the glass. He's not ready to play 30+ minutes as of yet, so Memphis was correct in acquiring a stopgap PF, but for the love of god, why Zach Randolph? Dude is easily one of the biggest losers in the NBA, and I just know that they're gonna keep him out there for an insane amount of minutes, thereby stunting the growth of Arthur. The Iverson acquisition is also pointless. They already have a score-first combo guard in OJ Mayo. You're telling me that both of those guys are gonna be on the court at the same time, with Zach Randolph? LOL. This team might have a terrific young core, but players like Conley and Arthur will most likely have their growth stunted. Whether or not they make the playoffs is irrelevant to me. This is a team that should be thinking long-term. Randolph and AI are not long-term assets, and yet, they're gonna be hogging precious minutes that should be reserved for important pieces. I die a little inside every time someone talks positively about these acquisitions.
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 07:39 PM) If anyone wants to take a look beyond the jokes at intersexuality, the case I've read was a skier that was raised female, but chromosome testing proved she was a he, at least for the purposes of athletic competition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Schinegger LOL. Of course it had to be an Austrian/German. All of those female athletes have penises.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 05:59 PM) She looked like a dude. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) So what. Dude, she looks like a dude.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 10:56 PM) What do we do during the 60-110 games in which he's on the DL? Theoretically, he'd have a much better chance of staying healthy if he were relegated to a DH role. That's what we're talking about, Steve.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) Nick Johnson is an OPB machine. We could put him near the top of the order, and he could actually set the table for some of the other guys. I think he'd be perfect in the #3 slot. In 2006, dude had a .950 OPS, 70 extra-base hits, and 110 walks. That's what he can provide w/ upwards of 500 AB. He'll turn 31 later this month, so it would be nice to have him during the Peavy era, especially if it'll only cost us 5 MIL per year.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) Assuming he doesn't go down this month, he'll have had 450+ at bats this year in the NL. Yeah, pretty remarkable. 400+ ABs for only the third time in nine years. Get this man into a DH role already.
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 09:38 PM) Green Bay winning 10-12 games after winning 6 the previous season is going to be extremely tough Not extremely tough, by any means. First 11 games: Chicago Cincinnati At St. Louis At Minnesota Detroit At Cleveland Minnesota At Tampa Bay Dallas San Francisco At Detroit If 8-3 is worst-case, then they have to win two of their last five to finish with a 10-6 record: Baltimore At Chicago At Pittsburgh Seattle At Arizona Tough stretch, but I can't see the Packers losing four of their last five. There's no question that the Bears, Vikings, and Packers have lucked out this year with 8 games against the NFC West, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Detroit. I see the big three winning 10 or 11 games a piece, with one of 'em getting the shaft in the tiebreaker department.
