  1. QUOTE (3E8 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) For UZR/150 (most widely accepted defensive stat) the White Sox are 7th in AL, 15th in MLB and obviously going up with the addition of Rios in CF and Nix getting most of the time at 2B now. Beckham is also progressing defensively We are 6th in the AL, 12th in MLB in stolen bases, adding Rios helps in this category The aggregate ERA+ for our 4th/5th starters is just below 100 (league average). This is more than acceptable production from those slots, look around the league at what other teams get out of the backend of their rotation. When Peavy's arm returns to condition our already strong rotation gets better Our bullpen ERA and K/9 are both above league average I could probably say something positive about Jeffrey Dahmer if you gave me some time to research it. The Sox defense is atrocious, especially pre-Rios. You don't need to watch very many games to find that out. Our overall team speed is very poor. Konerko, Thome, Dye, Quentin, Pierzynski, etc. These guys can barely move. Jose Contreras, Freddy Garcia, and whoever else we've had in the 4 and 5 slots clearly suck hard. I don't care what the ERA+ says. That's one of the many things that you look at, along with WHIP, BAA, K/9, K-to-BB, etc. Outside of Thornton and Jenks, our bullpen has sucked. We have key relievers in the 1.45 to 1.55 WHIP range. That's horrendous. There is nothing you can do to sugarcoat that. If their ERA stats are good, it's pure luck, and I'm sure that you can see that.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 05:16 AM) • Below average defense. I guess some might say average. I'd say below average. The defense is tremendously bad. The Polish guy is the only one that has brains listed as a strength. It's great to have Rios in CF, though. We need a dude with great range to cover for major defensive liabilities in Quentin and Dye.
  3. QUOTE (3E8 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 04:26 AM) Explain how we are severely flawed Can't play defense, can't manufacture runs, poor overall team speed, weak back-end of the rotation, etc. Jenks and Thornton are the only dudes in the bullpen that have WHIP ratios under 1.30, but I'm not ready to say that our pen is severely flawed. It's pretty scary when you analyze the numbers, though. Dotel is walking damn near 7 batters per 9 IP. The Peavy and Rios acquisitions got me amped, but I'm still not a huge fan of our current team make-up. Looking forward to next year, though.
  4. They deleted my post where I said that the thread f***ing sucks. Not productive enough?
  5. QUOTE (Peter King @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 09:32 PM) By doing it now, Childress loses Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson; how can they ever trust anything he says now? Who cares?
  6. This is awesome because it's gonna make the Bears vs Vikings games a hell of a lot more interesting. Can't wait for the season to start.
  7. Wow, 49-10. Looks like a late 80s Denver Broncos super bowl score. I guess I'm just a hater. Haters gonna hate
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) I think it’s perfectly logical for fans of a team that plays in the AL Central to conclude that their team should be completive for the entirety of the year. I think it’s deluded to call people names for making a logical assumption based on the competiveness of a weak division.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 05:55 PM) I think Ozzie continues to misuse a lot of his assets on offense. Ideally, with the sluggers we have in our lineup our team SHOULD be centered on the homerun or the extra-base hit. Bunting, realistically, should have no place on this team. We also seem to run ourselves out of a lot of innings. ^ yikes QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) A team with about 4 or 5 DHs in their lineup Incredibly stupid offense, worst defense in the majors, etc. I find the Sox to be unwatchable, but I still tune in because I'm a glutton for punishment. I don't remember people being this delusional on soxtalk. I'd say that 75 to 78 wins is about right.
  10. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 03:09 AM) Best Alex Rios (range, fielding, arm) Jayson Nix (fielding, range) Brent Lillibridge (fielding, range) Dewayne Wise (range) Mark Kotsay (fielding) Paul Konerko (range, fielding) AJ Pierzynski (fielding, brain) Gordon Beckham (lacks range, everything else average) Alexei Ramirez (arm, range, but not brain nor fielding ability) Carlos Quentin (lacks range, everything else average) Jermaine Dye (arm) Scott Podsednik (ability to prance) Worst Interesting rankings. Does anyone else find it ironic that the Polish guy is the only one with brains listed as a strength?
  11. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 12:23 AM) Now its time to move on folks. You can't hold it against him forever.
  12. This one, in front of a sellout crowd at the United Center.
  13. LOL at Vick being remorseful about torturing dogs. Dude was lobotomized, just like many of the people that support him.
  14. QUOTE (The Bones @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:24 PM) I hope everyone here who is disgusted with Michael Vick is vegetarian. If not then I would like someone to explain how it is okay for animals to suffer in one case but not another. And spare me the "one is for food and the other is recreation" bulls*** because we eat meat not out of necessity but because it tastes good. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) If you never owned a dog, then you wouldn't understand. They become members of your family. To think that a scumbag like Vick oversaw/co-signed the kidnapping of family dogs is what sickens me more than anything else. He can breed his own killer pit-bulls and sacrifice 'em for all I care, but when you go around stealing pets, then it's a different story altogether. Think about that lonely old lady who depends on her dog for companionship, or that little kid who will never get to see his labrador again because Vick needed sacrificial lambs. Vick is a devil, son. Lend your support to someone else. QUOTE (The Bones @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 01:08 AM) So now kidnapping is a bigger crime than murder. Please continue because I'm really interested in this new line of thinking. I had a dog from the time I was two years old until I was in high school and yes I was sad when she died but it is not comparable to a human being in the least. Bones, it looks like you got a little confused along the way. I never got involved in the killing people vs killing dogs debate.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:47 PM) Also, to me, people are underplaying the torture he administered on to animals and the fact he stole pets from the neighborhoods and used them as practice kills for the fighting dogs. To me that shows a disturbed mind. Exactly.

  17. QUOTE (Requiem Schmuquiem @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 06:44 PM) He's no Chyson Tandler that's for sure, it just goes to show that without that pesky thing we call "pitch-recognition and hand-eye coordination", no amount of "physical" tools will lead to Major league success. Dude, you've been getting banned since I registered here back in 2004. Don't you think that maybe it's time to get a new IP address or something?
  18. Vick and his cohorts would steal dogs off the street and sacrifice 'em for the good of their "enterprise". Boo this lowlife.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) I wouldn't call it exceptions, there are plenty of smart people who are addicts whether it be to drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc.... Now maybe Hamilton is an idiot but I haven't read anything that specificly points that out. We're talking about extents, though. Hamilton is the type of guy that would down 20+ beers/shots in four hours, have sex with some god-awful skank in a bathroom, hop in his car with a BAC level that's through the roof, get a couple more tattoos, score some blow, and then wake up the next morning with no memory of what occured the night before. I would classify such a person as severely retarded. Just my opinion, though.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) Who apologized for him? Point it out to me once on this board, and I'll concede my point right there. That was a direct response to Thunderbolt. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) To suggest he was an embarassment to his family is absolutely absurd and completely unfair. For all we know, he very well may have come back to his wife or girlfriend or father or f***ing whoever - and told them he had a drink, it turned to 15, and he made countless bad decisions. He then probably (since he's playing still) turned himself into rehab and began coming back all over again. Perhaps that's why he was on the DL, perhaps not. If he got bombed out of his mind behind closed doors, then I'd honestly feel bad for him. The fact that he chose to do it in a public place w/ skanks licking whip cream off his chest and grabbing his crotch is dumber than dumb. Does he not know that everyone has cameras on their cell phones nowadays? His wife must have been lobotomized if she's still with him. That's some serious never forgive action. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) Beyond that, you even take a shot at Hamilton (IQ of a grapefruit?). If he's not an intelligent person, then so f***ing be it...he was drafted out of high school, so he atleast has a degree. He got involved in some hard s*** after high school - I imagine you atleast know of people who did - and baseball became a job, rather than the entertainment we view it as. Man, all signs point to stupid, whether it be the compulsive abuse of drugs and liquor, the religion thing, the fact that he needs a babysitter with him at all times, the 20,000 tattoos, etc. I think that the photos say it all, really. Just some serious white trash is all. It's amazing to me that anyone would defend him.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 11:03 PM) Some of the smartest people you'll ever meet can still wind up succumbing to addiction. Sure, there are always exceptions.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) No, Josh Hamilton is an addict. He was stupid to get into drugs and alcohol in the 1st place, smart to get out of them. Now, he’s in the tenuous act of recovery. Let me recover by getting bombed out of my mind and then having a bunch of skanks lick whip cream off my chest. Better yet, let's take pictures of it. Don't apologize for this imbecile. He's a complete and utter embarrassment to himself and his family. I hope that his wife has sense enough to jet the f*ck outta there. Probably not, though, seeing as how she chooses to spend quality time with someone that has the IQ of a grapefruit.
