  1. Somebody forgot to take their meds today.
  2. On one hand, I got my Mark Buehrle World Series Wheaties Box. On the other hand, I have to read posts by people who think we should sign Crede so that he could retire in a Sox uniform, or how Aaron Rowand has turned the Phillies and Giants into playoff teams. It's too much for the senses.
  3. LOL. I didn't know that whitesoxmanager was such a funny guy. I'm gonna have to start checking for his posts.
  4. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 03:54 AM) thinking about him at third, beckham at 2nd, alexei at shortstop, flowers at catcher, quentin in right or left, and rios in center makes me cum. And you win "Creepiest Poster Of 2009" in a landslide.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 09:42 PM) I can't say for sure of course, but don't you agree the move now looks stupid at best? The guy hasn't pitched for us, we gave up some young pitchers who might have fared better in relief roles than the scum we've put out there. The gamble was we'd be in the pennant race and he'd be the September boost we need. I hate to second guess too much but the gamble failed. We're not in the race and his presence matters not. The other guys? They might have helped. We gave up too many bodies for a guy on the DL. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 11:07 PM) No, your post looks kinda stupid, but the trade was still awesome. We have several years of a top flight Ace for basically nothing prospects. What a great trade. Greg, I know that you spend a lot of time on this site, so I find it disheartening to learn of your complete unawareness as to the point of the Peavy trade. It was a power move for the long term, son. Are people doing a good enough job of making these things clear to some of the less-informed posters? I blame the moderators - all 10,000 of 'em.
  6. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 03:12 AM) sign a stud 1b/or LF and have Kotsay/Pods fill in. Keep Pods?
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 02:24 AM) But he wasn't thought of before this year. Exactly. Pablo Sandoval is a terrific mention.
  8. Markakis had only two HR from May 10 to July 17. He also has only 4 SB up to this point. Meanwhile, Kevin Youkilis has the same amount. Pretty atrocious considering that Nick is a potential 20 SB guy. He should be in the .875 to .925 OPS range, but instead, he's at .835, and he was under .800 through mid-July. I'll be expecting much more from him next year.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) BTW, Markakis is actually having kind of a down year. The RBI stats look great, but I expected more from Markakis. Everybody sweats Josh Johnson pretty hard, too. Michael Young is obviously a known commodity, when healthy. The other seven guys have exceeded expectations, to various extents.
  10. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 12:27 AM) 2005 4 LYFE!
  11. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 12:16 AM) 3rd and 1....run the damn ball...i dont care if you have cutler QUOTE (rangercal @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 03:09 AM) Is that you John Shoop? And by run the ball, do you mean up the middle? But running the ball is our identity, yo! Never mind that a short, underneath pass to a TE in that situation is an extremely high percentage play. We GOTTA run the ball in that situation or else it just ain't Bears football!
  12. The league I'm in drafted like this: Tom Brady (6 Overall) Drew Brees (13 Overall) Peyton Manning (21 Overall) Aaron Rodgers (22 Overall) Tony Romo (32 Overall) Phillip Rivers (39 Overall) Kurt Warner (48 Overall) Jay Cutler (50 Overall) Donovan McNabb (53 Overall) Matt Schaub (55 Overall) Matt Ryan (85 Overall) Carson Palmer (86 Overall) 12 teams, so those are the starters. At least 9 of the owners really know their s***, but as with any league, you're gonna have a couple guys that are somewhat confused. I ended up getting Cutler at #50. I thought that I'd get him in the 60-to-70 range, but it didn't work out that way. Roethlisberger ain't gonna be starting for anyone, which speaks to his fantasy value. In real life, he's more valuable than damn near half of the guys on that list.
  13. Brees has those insane completion percentages. I'll go with this order: 1. Manning 2. Brady 3A. Rivers 3B. Brees
  14. Looking at three or four year splits is not gonna give you that good of an indication as to where Philip Rivers is at going into the 2009 season. I'm looking at progression from year to year. Rivers put up MVP stats last season, and I have no reason to believe that he won't be just as good this year (it would be hard to surpass the numbers that he put up in '08). If this was the stock market, you'd take Rivers over Romo without even blinking.
  15. QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) This whole thing is like a soap opera. BacIs he healthy, will they deal him, the mini-fight with Papelbon (who should just keep his mouth shut btw), im invoking my ntc if you dont let me hit free agency and now its back to accepting the deal...Way too much press on the waiver claims this year. Can I get that again in english? Thanks.
  16. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 02:46 AM) I can listen to Goff, Holmes, and Abatacola all day long, probably cause im 29 years old..... You also have a brain, and a sense of humor. That helps, trust me. Zach Zaidman is excellent, btw.
  17. I hear you, Palehose. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 01:16 AM) Again, all you've confirmed is that Rivers had a good 2008 & now all of a sudden he's an elite QB? Get outta here. As for numbers, all you've given was a ratio for one season. (They're both 2-to-1 over their career.) With a better completion % & a better QB rating. So who's more valuable? His 2008 season wasn't just merely good. His performance was off the charts. He had a better season than Romo could ever hope to have. I was waiting for that Rivers to show up. In 2007, he had 7 games with a 100+ rating, and 9 games with a sub-75 rating. A lot of people figured that it was only a matter of time before he'd put it all together, and god damn did he come with the thunder in '08. Is anyone not expecting the same this year? Stop and consider that he was only 26 years old for the bulk of the 2008 season.
  18. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 12:42 AM) You can put Brady, Manning, McNabb, and Brees out in front. There's no way that McNabb can compare to Rivers at this point. One would only need to look at their respective game logs. I hesitate to diss Roethlisberger because he was so awesome in 2007, but his 2008 numbers are crap - a 1.1 TD-to-INT ratio with an 80 QB rating? Yikes. Nowhere near the same league. Rivers is obviously progressing, and then some. I don't know what Roethlisberger is doing - he's too inconsistent from year to year.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 12:27 AM) I didn't know playgirl had a mostly homosexual readership either. LOL
  20. Brian - Rivers absolutely exploded last year. His game log is insane. 3-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio with a 65% completion percentage and a 105 QB rating. Yeah, he had his worst regular season game of the year in Pittsburgh, but when they played the Steelers in the divisional round, here's the line that he finished with: 3 TDs 1 INT 308 Yards 60% Completion Percentage 105 QB Rating ^ All true to his regular season numbers w/ the exception of the completion percentage. Romo is a 2-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio type if he's lucky (more like 1.75). That ain't the end-all-be-all, and his completion percentage is comparable to that of Rivers, but there's no way that these guys are on the same level. Rivers is approaching Manning and Brady - you can not say the same for Romo. And like mhizzle said, the numbers tell the story. I don't know what numbers he was looking at , but yeah, if you know what to look for, Rivers is the obvious choice when trying to determine who is more valuable.
  21. Your logic is atrocious. You deserve to be chastised. Lucky for you that they're trying to turn this place into a utopian society. Romo is damn good, but Rivers is on a different level. That should be pretty obvious to anyone that pays close attention to the NFL. My advice is just to watch more games.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) I know there is 'Dotel love on this board. He has been far from effective IMO. I haven't examined all the stats, but my own eye tells me he's a base on balls machine and a guy I don't want on my team. I hope we get rid of him. Through August 9, his BB/9IP was at 7.0. He's currently at just over 6.0, but his WHIP ratio is still in the 1.50 range. I don't know how, but his ERA stood at 2.59 before the August 24 game in Boston. This is why meatheads are defending his 2009 performance. To me, he's just been lucky as hell. More than 70% of the guys that he has walked up to this point have been left stranded. He has 62 K in 49 IP, but that doesn't explain everything. I think that he might have a horseshoe stuffed way up his ass. Maybe even a gerbil.
  23. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) Haha, mhizzle don't know his football too well. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) And you do? yeah
  24. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 07:19 PM) In the Costas interview he referred to it as the Old Comi-n-sky Park, so he is suspect, but as 35thStreetSwarm points out, he represents... I'm from the northwest side, and even I got that reference.
