  1. http://www.forsakethetroops.info/index.shtml I am not sure what to say about this.
  2. Just another case of he said/she said. Whichever side is wrong, do you really expect them to admit it? LIke the article said, get over it and move on.
  3. Since when did the homeless become a 'community', and since they usually don't vote, what's in it for the two that voted against it? I'm not so sure about that banning of odors, but I don't see any problem with banning sleeping on tables, eating and using the restrooms for bathing. It is a library, not a YMCA.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) Haha, why were you looking for info on Bucky? I have him sitting on the ir for my fantasy team, was just wondering how long he would be out, would he even get back this year, etc. He has a monster swing, lots of power.
  5. http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/mb/message.asp...g=21487.1&ctx=0 I was trolling for injury information on Bucky jacobsen, and found this interesting thread at the Mariner's board. Seems they feel an ESPN bias too! Substitute 'White Sox' for Mariners in some of the posts, and they sound awfully familiar.
  6. I agree that our system has its flaws and needs to be fixed. My wife works for Aetna, and I can tell you that insurance in general is pretty messed up. I was merely pointing out that Canada's way is not the way. As for my employees, I do offer it for the 2 employees that need it. Since I bought the business I was working for, I was able to do it almost right away, as we already had a steady stream of business and income. It still hurts.
  7. http://www.canada.com/national/nationalpos...26-6ae788a3ea57 Maybe the influx of all those medical dollars here will help with the trade deficit.
  8. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) That's total bs, he's done nothing to make the errors he made public in the United States and none of you would eve know about this had I not posted it. And the mad cow thing was done by investigative reporters, that's what they do, they dig up stories. They're not about to and they're not going to apologize for anything, especially since they are probably right. This and the mad cow thing have nothing to do with each other. First off, you didn't answer tha question. What would you like him to do? I never heard him say it in the first place until you opened your yap, so who knows how many people it originally reached. Do you really think Newt's statement has caused a whole new level of resentment towards Canada? Do you REALLY think Newt has that much pull? If so, you need to lay off the maple syrup and loosen your tuque. And second, these two things do coincide because of your reaction to them. You seem to have no problem with someone lying about the US, but have a cow (pun intended) when someone in the US make a MISTAKE about an issue concerning Canada. You have absolutely NO evidence that your so-called 'investigative reporters' are correct, but yet you seem to have no problem perpetuating the LIE about Mad Cow disease because 'they are PROBABLY right'. Care to back that up with some kind of proof? Maybe you should apologize to the American Beef industry for perpetuating this LIE. Can you say hypocrite?
  9. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Well technically I did say that the title was misleading, but I still do believe that someone in the US is covering it up. Also Newt Gingrich was the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives I am but a little peon. When you find something showing that Gingrich is trying to fix his mistake please show me. and oh wow an American newspaper ran the story http://washingtontimes.com/world/20050421-100823-9302r.htm http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/World/2005/04/20/1005773-cp.html I am curious what you would like him to do? He said he was sorry publicly, and plans to repeat that apolgy if/when her is asked about it in the future (It is the very last line in the story). By admitting his mistake he has already done more than those asshats hit the Mad Cow disease.
  10. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) Call me cynical about the whole thing then. It just upsets me because the damage to Canada and Mexico has already been done. Anyone watching that who wasn't completely informed about 9/11 would have no choice but to eat that up. I also believe Gingirich recently called for tougher border controls, who is he to make that call when he might really have no clue about the borders? Or was he just lieing to further his call's importance? http://www.fftimes.com/index.php/3/2005-04-21/21019 While I'd consider that a start, that's probably the last we'll hear about this story. So its a bad thing if an American makes a mistake that makes Canada look bad (Newt and the border), but NOT a bad thing when a Canadian lies about something to make the US look bad (remember your unsubstantiated Mad Cow disease post?)? Can't have it both ways. At least Newt said he was wrong and is trying to fix his mistake.
  11. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 05:10 AM) Spitting, tossing pies, dousing with salad dressing are all poor ways of getting one's point across. The differentiation betwen Fonda and Coulter is that Fonda is able to speak about her points without calling her opponents "monkeys" etc. (Yes, I have read "Treason" -- some of the funniest stuff is when she has the 1919-1920 Red Scare taking place in the mid 1920s and butchers history so very hardcore...by putting events in the wrong years) and there she has a slight one up on Coulter. But your point about Coulter is well taken since they promote promote anti-American actions and domestic terrorism (i.e. Coulter suggesting that it was a tragedy that McVeigh did not blow up the NY Times building) I in no way, shape or form am trying to defend any of her words, just the fact that hitting her with a pie at a book signing or speaking engagement is no different that Foda being spit upon. One may be a bit more messy, but if one is 'bad', then so is the other.
  12. QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) What an asshat. I seem to remember several liberals on this board having a grand old time when Ann Coulter got hit in the face with a pie. How is that so different? She was still 'attacked'.
  13. I thought it was LESS cents because of the exchange rate?
  14. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/04/19/...ain689082.shtml I bet mom and dad are real proud. And just think, after he gets out, he will STILL be responsible for repaying his student loans. Gonna be pretty tough to do with a degree that will be out of date after 8 years and a felony on your record. Maybe he should have said he was an artist, and all those burned up SUV's were just 'performance pieces'. Hell, he may have even got a grant from the NEA to go burn more!
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) Its not his fastball, it never was fast. He isnt throwing breaking balls for strikes like he did last year. Now all they do is wait for the fastball. THAT is the key. When they can wait on a fastball, or take a walk, he will get pounded. He needs to get that damn curve, or frisbee, or whatever, over the plate.
  16. Evil Monkey is aka Bruno Kenya.
  17. Someone had a LOTof time on their hands. Maybe they should make a drinking game out of it, similar to "Hi Bob." How about person A is 'It', and at the first 'f***', takes a drink. If 'f***' is said again before he finishes the drink, he has to take another one. Then it is the next person's turn, and so on. Can have all sorts of side action, like if 'cocksucker' is said before 'f***' on your turn, you get to pick someone else to drink. 'cocksucker' and 'f***' in the same sentance is an EVERYBODY DRINK! Damn, would probably forget the rules after the first 10 minutes!
  18. More examples of 'art', from our friends over in England. http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=410542005] I would kill this guy. My first new car got keyed 2 weeks after I got it. That bugged me for years!
  19. QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) I have a big problem with artwork being investigated by federal authorities. It creates a chilling effect towards the exercise of free expression. And those who believe in democracy and American ideals that we hold dear ought to have a problem with it too. You need to stop getting your panties in a bunch. Here is the correct take on this. http://www.suntimes.com/output/roeper/cst-nws-roep18.html
  20. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 04:48 AM) Well they did know that there was huge exports going to Turkey and Jordan (if these exports were stopped, it would have destroyed a lot of the economy of Turkey/Jordan) Yes, the corruption is bad -- however, the US can't say it had no f***ing clue and play like it had its head up its ass for so many years. Ok, here is the telling part of that story. According to Mr. Annan's latest account, most of the money pocketed by Saddam "came out of smuggling outside the oil-for-food program, and it was on the American and British watch." "Possibly, they were the ones who knew exactly what was going on and that the countries themselves decided to close their eyes to smuggling to Turkey and Jordan, because they were allies." Notice he offers no proof, just the word, "Possibly". Exemptions for those two countries to recieve oil was granted by the U.N., so they can't say they didn't know they were getting oil. PLus, what watch? The U.N. was the group that was supposed to be monitoring that as well. Simply because those two countries are our allies, he tries to paint this as a sign of US involvement in the corruption, when the truth is that the U.N. pretty much sucks at just about everything they do, except for trying to pass the blame onto the US. Or Isreal.
  21. http://www.washtimes.com/world/20050415-113059-8408r.htm WTF? Someone needs to b****-slap this idiot.
  22. I bet the beer vendors hate working on the days that Buerhle pitches. Not enought time to sell beer!
  23. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) Yeah, that's probably true. How do you convince her that it wasn't her fault? You can't. Wow. Not to sound cruel, but it WAS her fault. She is the one that hit the wrong pedal. Yes, it was an accident, but it was still her fault. DK was right, she willprobably need years of therapy.
  24. INtramural basketball game. My team losing by 20 points. All week long I had been dunking the ball in practice games, but had not been able to pull it off in a real game. (remember, this was 16 years and 70 pounds ago!) 30 seconds left, my team reabounds and myself and one other guy break out. Pass to the other guy, who sees me running behind, and he drops a beautiful bounce pass to me in stride. I grab the ball, dribble once, and just as I start to elevate, I hit a loose floorboard (the gym had the old wooden floors) and blow out my right knee, effectively ending the game with about 10 seconds still left on the clock. At least I got my last 2 years of school paid for because of it, but I got kidded about it forever. And was never able to dunk again.
  25. Most lenders sell their mortgages at some point or another. usually they are sold in larger groups. My current loan has been sold 4 times over the last 10 years, and with each sell, the new placed keeps screwing up the handling of the escrow.
