  1. It was a good article IMO. I've seen a lot of posts here that pretty much say what he was saying.
  2. After 20+ years of being of Sox fan, I've been disappointed, heart-brokend, frustrated, pissed-off, etc. More times than not. This year has been an emotional roller coaster. We were seeing this season through rose-colored glasses, not expecting them to fail. I knew that they would go through a slump, but not of this magnitude. Granted, when I'm down on them, I'm down. It shows sometimes in my posts and at home. I'm always saying to the TV, "we'll this one's over" I'm just so used to saying it. I still expect them to make the playoffs, whether or not they'll succeed and standup to the superior teams is another story. See there I go again, not having much faith in them. It's just from being a long time fan.
  3. August is in the past. September is here. 27 of 31 games are against their own division. Just to put things in perspective: If the Sox go 16-15 this month, Cleveland will have to go 23-6 just to take the division. This after going 19-8 in August. I haven't been the most optimistic person here, especially in the game threads, but I expect good things this month. Hopefully Jose breaks the recent trends of poor starting pitching and continues his dominance. Matchups for the rest of the series: Friday: Garcia v. Douglass (me in attendance!!) Saturday: Buehrle v. Robertson Sunday: Garland v. Bonderman LET'S START THE MONTH OFF RIGHT!!!!
  4. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) Does that work??? Yes, that'll do.
  5. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) Heeellllooooo...Timo??? Remember him??? And he's been quite the force today.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) Our starters need rest. Check out the innings pitched on the big 3. How fresh do you think they will be if they have to go 7/8 innings in every single start in September. That's why they have Brandon McCarthy. Go to a 6-man rotation.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) This is so sad we have blown such a big lead. We could of clinched in two weeks if we didnt pull this roll over and die crap. Now we will be playing till the end. Our starters will be dead by the time the playoffs come. It might be a good thing if it goes to the end. If (and that's a pretty big IF) we have clinched too soon, whose to say they would be relaxed and not ready for the playoffs. If they clinch (again a pretty big IF) than at least they'll have some momemtum.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) When you're struggling like we are, you need all the help you can get from your manager. Did Ozzie really think that this lineup today was going to score a lot of runs? Did Ozzie really think that after Duque allows 4 straight base runners to start the 6th inning, he should leave Duque in for another batter? All I know is that I'm happy the new rules are in place, or else this would have gotten really, really ugly. That's the first thing I was thinking about after the new rules took effect. The game threads. I can't wait to see these in September.
  9. QUOTE(infohawk @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) I don't typically question Ozzie, but to me El Duque is really a five-inning pitcher. Especially against a team that can hit like the Rangers. I don't know why he didn't just turn the game over to the bullpen after taking the lead. I'm an Ozzie fan, but I don't see what there is to gain by leaving El Duque in beyond 80-85 pitches against the Rangers. The same thing happened last week against Seattle. I feel he left him in one inning too long. What happened? Seattle tied it up. Ozzie usually wants his starters to get the victory, but most of the time it backfires and it ends up putting them in a deep hole.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) there is no reason Carl shouldnt be pinch hitting right here I completely agree.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) This resting of the starters in large amounts is getting to complete joke level. Manuel only did it once a week. Ozzie does it like 2 to 3 times a week. BTW this is what happened to the 2003 Royals, they went out to a start and died in the second half due to bungling managerial decisions. How big of a lead did the Royals have at one point?
  12. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) I believe he is Southpaw. He might as well be.
  13. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) but we have harold Harold's still with the team?
  14. Imagine if McCarthy didn't pitch like he did last night. We'd be staring at a 5 game lead tonight!!
  15. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Come on guys, three innings left. Sheesh. I can almost guarantee you that we will not do anything in those three innings.
  16. I go to lunch watch them struggle to go ahead 2-1. By the time I come back to my office, it's 4-2. No wait, 6-2. Unf***ingreal. Back to work.
  17. 9 in a row retired by El Duque. 53 pitches through 3 innings. Tied at 1, on to the 4th.
  18. QUOTE(infohawk @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) Quote from Willie: "Guys, that was a statement shot. Can I come to your board now?" "It's his turn now"
