QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) I agree with RNW, and hes nowhere to be found to read it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do go to school. You had to know that considering how intelligent i am.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) I think, even though your preference is understood, you make a good point on who was more valuable as far as the offensive side of things. Ortiz probably had more to do with wins with his bat than A-rod. BUt this has turned into a numbers game, and A-rods numbers were better, and he plays btoh sides of the ball which gives him an advantage. But a DH can win it. Frank has 2 (3) MVP's. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> stop the presses! Rock and I agree on something? haha. I agree with what your saying, my freind, and we'll end it at that.

that game was awesome. i thought i was the only one who watched OLN's broadcast, and it really started to bother me that the NHL was going to be playing second fiddle to even real world re-runs. come on hockey fans.

What the hell is wrong with Ryan Dempster?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 05:48 AM) Yep, I'd say R&W's MVP preference was rather, well, predictable. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> just as predictable as it was for you to make up an excuse of why Ortiz and Rodriguez were in the running to begin with. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Those two are west of the Hudson. They don't count. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) Who said DH's cant win the MVP? It was just said a guy who plays defense and has similar and in this case overall better offensive stats will have the advantage. Where are you coming with this crap that DH's cant win MVP's. Its understandable you wanted Ortiz to win since your a Red Sox fan but why make up s***? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> all of espn, all of the people who didn't vote for Ortiz. basically everyone who didnt vote for Ortiz that had a say in who won this award believed that a dh could not win it.

maybe its just my high school, but i'd imagine a lot of high schools are like Laguna Beach with its alcohol induced drama slash hormone induced hooking up. It's a shame that the nerds on Laguna Beach are now celebrities, when if you follow any group of people in high school now-a-days you'd probably have the same stuff occurring. oh well, i guess i'll have to get famous another way, ha.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) Im not miffed, nor do I care who wins. I just find it hard to believe that anyone can make a case for a DH, with worse offensive stats, winning the MVP over a position player. It just doesnt make logical sense. Im not attacking you, just that position. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yea, I really don't care who wins either, but with that mindset, I don't get the voting process as a whole. If a DH can't win the MVP, why can he be voted second? Ortiz, Hafner, etc. should have either won it slash been where they are, or not have been in the running at all. There is no inbetween.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) How am I making myseld look like a fool? A-rod is more valuable than Ortiz, look at the numbers, he is better offensively and defensively than Ortiz. How is that unclear? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you were miffed that I or anyone for that matter could even consider Ortiz the Most Valuable Player in the American League. Thats how your making yourself look foolish. It's unclear for many reasons, you're just to ignorant to realize it.
-
give me a break, rock. you're making yourself look like a fool. it could be argued, and most Yankee fans would agree, that Rivera, Jeter, and Matsui are all more important pieces to that Yankee team than Alex Rodriguez. stop with the bitterness, Ortiz could just have easily won that award and in my opinion without question should have. if its so farfetched to have that same mindset as i, why did he recieve so many first place votes?

a "reliable source" according to the New York Mets Inside Pitch seems to believe that Mike Cameorn has been traded to the Padres. For whom, we do not know.

i didnt say it wasn't possible to prove that steroids directly cause a death, i just said that it's impossible to find an autopsy proving such because its happened 1 or 2 times total in history. aspirin on the other hand... -

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) WOW! :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thats proven fact? what are you banging your head for? that you've been taking something that is more detrimental to your liver and kidneys than steroids yet have been talking out of your ass on the steroid subject for the last year? -

take it for what its worth, but you have a better chance of dying from over-the-counter aspirin than you do from steroids. -

sure, it could be steroid use that contributed, but the guy had a storied past of drug and alcohol abuse aswell for years and years. -
Jason sucks at baseball so i've heard. I heard that Laguna Beach and areas alike have absolutely horrid high school athletic programs.

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Yep, that Crash Holly was sure a fatass. If you don't think steroids plays a big part in these heart attacks, you're naive as hell. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i didnt say that steroids couldn't play a role in "these" heart attacks, but considering not one death has been proven outright to be because of steroid use, its more so the stupidity of the user who chooses to wrongfully take the powerful drugs thus abusing them. it will be interesting to see how this all pans out. i wish that congress instead of trying to get rid of steroids, an impossible task, provided doctored supervision so that the users of the drugs could have there blood checked and values checked without the risk of getting in trouble. i would bet that there would be alot less of this going on in the wrestling world if that were the case. -

first of all people, please. steroids don't kill. second of all, scott steiner was reportedly injecting synthol into his biceps which would make sense considering the peak in his arm was over 20 inches. third of all, all wrestlers take steroids. every one of them. there isn't a person in the world who could naturally do what wrestlers do week in and week out. steroids help strengthen there bodies which in turn allow them to take the beatings they take on a daily basis. fourth of all, the wrestlers who are dieing at an early age all have the same thing in common. they are all obese, have a history with drugs and alcohol, and/or got involved in some sort of foul play. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Pfffffff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, spit all over my screen. So, lets get this straight, on offense, A-rod had better numbers right? So...You think if Ortiz played the field then he would have won, because he would be about the same value in the field as A-rod? Well, then A-rod would be more valuable because he would still be better offensively, right? Now, lets stop smoking crack for a second. Ortiz only plays one side of the ball. He has no chance to help, or hurt his team when they are in the field. A-rod helps his team by being a good fielder at 3B and plays twice as much as Ortiz. If they had identical numbers on offense, which they dont, and A-rod helps out his team twice as much as Ortiz does, wouldnt he be more valuable? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> jayson stark solidifed my argument in balta's link provided above. how do you say... you got owned?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) Huh? I've been a fan of Mueller, I think I might have actually asked you in that thread how good he was defensively, I'm pretty sure I've never argued that Mueller was a bad 3rd baseman. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not having this search function is really bothering me, my apologies.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Arod is a pretty darn good 3rd baseman and range factor and zone rating won't convince me otherwise. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> whatever turmoil is between us is from the Bill Mueller thread I created where I argued that range factor and zone rating didn't do Mueller justice defensively and you and the rest of my bashers were pretty cynical. just saying.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) Hendry doesn't give up talent, he'll end up fleecing the Marlins for Pierre, it's what he does. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> not this time. theres too large of a market for him.
-
it would make me laugh if Hendry gave up Pie and more for Juan Pierre.
