  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) I would honestly see Alex Cora starting at shortstop before they ever threw Loretta back there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i agree. again, its just too early to tell at this point.
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) No wrongdoing involved. I was just surprised that you thought Graffanino was that good and that a big payroll team like Boston would go with him as their starting second baseman. And you really weren't serious about the Red Sox starting Loretta at shortstop, were you? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> if the season were to start tommorow, thats what the line-up would be. it's a definite possibility.
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) I just remember during the ALDS that you said Graffanino would be the Red Sox starting second baseman in 2006 even after he booted that ball. I said that he wouldn't be and not just because he booted that ball but because he isn't really that good. And I hope you were joking about the Red Sox starting Loretta at shortstop. That isn't going to happen. He hasn't played shortstop regularly since 2000. He will be at second base and Graffanino will be on the bench. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i think i said graffanino would be starting at second base somewhere in the majors. again, its too early to tell anything, but ill admit my wrongdoing if he doesn't end up as a starting second baseman.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) Would your tune be the same if Boston had resigned him... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i actually started a thread on sosh ousting damon. these were my thoughts on july 10th of this year: yes, my tune would be the same. i am so excited today, i am loving life.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Money doesn't matter to teams like the Yanks/BoSox. Plus considering what Furcal got, Damon is the superior player (although Furcal has upside and is younger) and kills two birds with one stone for the Yanks (CF and the top of the order). The Red Sox will be reeling cause its not like there rotation is great (its improved from last year though, but that wouldn't take much). Red Sox definately have some voids to fill. Especially since I don't happen to think Youkalis will be this great 3rd baseman (of course I love Marte, but I doubt he'll be up there at the start of the year). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> money doesn't matter? thats just insanity. it's to early to tell that the Red Sox will be reeling but as of right now, i couldnt be happier with the direction the red sox are taking, period.
  7. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) What about Mark Loretta? The only reason Boston offered Graffanino arbitration was because they wanted the draft pick if he signed elsewhere. Apparently, no other team was interested in giving him much money. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you do realize that rotoworld is just a group of people putting there opinion into there news reports? just like we do here... the red sox could very well go into next season with loretta at short, and neener at second. although you are right, the red sox were looking to get a supplementary first round pick which no opposing team was willing to give up. although i still don't get your point..
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) Agreed. This is an exceptional move. Especially since Damon is a really good character individual as well. He's a hell of a hitter and it feels a big time need for the Yanks (leadoff hitter and CF). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damon is a really good character individual? the guy is and always has been a phony. He's been a very selfish person, someone whose looked out for his interests and noone elses from day one. he criticizes teammates and the organization when things aren't going his way, and showed no respect for red sox fans throughout this entire contractual process. he also cheated on his wife to put the cherry on top. i am so glad that he is no longer a red sox, and even more happy that the yankees are throwing 13 million dollars at a player who will certainly decline in the next year or two.
  9. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) Hey redandwhite, what happened to Tony Graffanino being the Red Sox starting second baseman in 2006? He couldn't even find a starting job elsewhere. The only reason Boston offered him arbitration was because they wanted the draft pick. Told ya so. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> he's under contract with the red sox and as of right now could very well be the starting second baseman. i don't follow?
  10. QUOTE(Hanky Panky @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) What are the BlowSox gonna do now??? No more 100+ run producer. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you stick elmer fudd in the leadoff spot of the red sox line-up the last two years and he'll score 100+ runs. damon can be very easily replaced.
  11. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) It looks like the Blue Jays are now the 2nd best team in the East after the Yanks. Boston seems like they are headed back to mediocrity. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i completely disagree.
  12. QUOTE(shakes @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) I don't see how they can effectvely replace these positions. I wonder how bad Manny will want out now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Manny doesn't want out for any reason but he wants more privacy. this changes nothing.
  13. a buddy of mines take who took the words out of my mouth:
  14. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) It doesn't really look much better to me. 2005 Red Sox opening day lineup 1B - K. Millar 2B - M. Bellhorn SS - E. Renteria 3B - B. Mueller 2006 Red Sox opening day lineup 1B - K. Youkilis 2B - M. Loretta SS - A. Cora 3B - M. Lowell <{POST_SNAPBACK}> in hindsight, which is really the only way this can be viewed, the 06 line-up is superior to the 05 one. as balta said though, the infield was hardly the reason for having the best offense in baseball and that had more to do with david ortiz and manny ramirez.
  15. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) no it doesn't. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> if he is traded he is able to opt out of his deal at any time, and has a full no trade clause beyond that point. once again, you're wrong.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Fine, I will say it. I would rather have Uribe. For the cost, the chemistry, the future, I would rather have Uribe and the team we have now. Discuss. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree, from a White Sox standpoint 100%.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 05:13 AM) Tejada was a leader on that club. But step back and look at what happened there last summer. Managerial change, Palmeiro's fiasco and the fiasco known as Sosa. That's a lot of BS to deal with ... I forgot all the Ponson stuff too ... and keep your mind focused on playing ML baseball. This game is tough enough to play when everything is going smooth. No way do I believe Tejada mailed it in for the second half. I'd take him in a heartbeat. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> this is a guy playing a game for a living. sure its a lot of bulls***, but a person charactarized as a leader should be able to deal with it, especially one who made a six year committment to an organization. if winning was so important to him, he would have taken a pay cut to stay with a perennial playoff team in oakland. like i said, i love the guy as a player, but and he seems like a quality guy, but he is far from a leader.
  18. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 12:35 AM) Is their offense still going to be the best in baseball? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> its far too early to tell.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) Dominance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> that infield is better than last years opening day infield and the red sox offense was the best in baseball.
  20. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) how much do you want to bet that he comes out and says he was misquoted. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thats completely irrelevant.
  21. whether he wanted to be there or not, he signed with the orioles who had the best offer on the table. it's funny that tejada is viewed at as a leader. i can't even imagine if he isn't traded, leading that young orioles roster, who he basically threw under a bus today.
  22. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) um he took less money to go to the Orioles. He never signed with the highest bidder. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> oh, really fool?
  23. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) Was sonsofsamhorn down today? What's with all of this Red Sawx crap? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well it was the biggest trade of the day, but of course the great aboz needs to be the hard ass he is.
