UPDATE: Tejada never wanted trade
redandwhite replied to Frank the Tank 35's topic in Pale Hose Talk
you sign with the highest bidder and then demand a trade two years later? tough luck, tejada. what are you going to do if the red sox youth movement doesn't go as planned? are you going to want out of boston too? i've never liked tejada as a person dating back to the derek lowe "crotch chop" incident, but he's a hell of a ballplayer. i just don't know if i want the red sox strengthening a pitching staff within the division to acquire him. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Could you elaborate a lil' bit on that story? I'm afraid I haven't heard it. Btw, when is that team going to find a GM? Who in the world is making these trades? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> apparently the twins are interested in lowell more than they are interested in hillenbrand, koskie, and the other third base options available on the trade market and free agent market for that matter. the twins apparently offered jc romero and kyle lohse but the red sox rejected and asked about rincon. talks ended there, and neither team has contacted eachother since. the red sox won't hire a gm until the manny ramirez situation is resolved. no way they put the burden of a ramirez trade on this "new" gm's shoulders within the first few days/weeks on the job. as for whose running the team currently, there are a couple minds running this team. of course the ownership group is having a say, possibly bill james, and certainly bill lajoie. peter gammons on eei this afternoon was saying how theo epstein accompanied the red sox to dallas for the winter meetings and advised this trade. it is wierd though... a year after theo signs wells, clement, and renteria, a group led by larry lucchino has rumored trading clement to milwaukee for overbay, wells to san diego for linebrink, and of course this trade here. very, very interesting.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) This guy gets hyped to no end. I seriously doubt he ever has a career close to wade boggs... the guy has one of the best eyes in baseball history along with being one of the best pure hitters in the game. I know the guy was not being serious but come on... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> let me guess, the red sox hyped him up? what makes you not like him?
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) $8 million plus the $3 million buyout at the end of the deal if Renteria's final year option is not picked up. 2nd to last paragraph here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yup, i read on the red sox board that the money hasn't been finalized, but thats about as finalized as it gets...

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) Well, that makes a little more sense than Rincon or Nathan...still a little bit of a high price for Lowell IMO though. I thought the Red Sox were talking about something involving Mueller for Romero last year, and based on recent performance Mueller was clearly playing better than Lowell for a lower price. Again, that's a deal that makes sense if Lowell can put up his 2002-2004 numbers, and 2005 is only an aberration. At this point, I don't think anyone could say that for sure. Of course, the Red sox might be willing to pay almost Lowell's entire deal to clear space for Marte, which could make it worth the deal for the Twins. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> considering the red sox apparently never called back when they were denied of rincon, i think lowell might be a "touchy subject" so to speak where if they part ways with him, it will be for a real solid player.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) Renteria for five million a year is pretty nice, even if it cost them a good prospect. I am surprised they wouldn't live with Wilson Betemit as their SS. THey know their system better than I do though <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no reports on the money being swapped are final. most say 11 million total, but i've also heard 8. we'll see.

i take it back, rotoworld speculated that nathan should be traded before rincon whom the red sox asked for. the twins actually offered jc romero and kyle lohse according to star tribune.. my apologies tony.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) Yes, and if the Sox wanted to offer Timo for Nathan, anyone can report that as well. Nathan for Lowell??? Silly Red Sox....... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it was reported as the twins offering it. let me go try and find it. as for the red sox being silly, let me share this quote from an agitated braves fan which pretty much is the consensus on the board: "Congratulations on fleecing us Boston. Yall got the next Wade Boggs. Hope you appreceate him as much as some Braves fans did."
-
thats what has reportedly been offered, my freind.
-
what a phenominal trade. this red sox team doesn't have a complete roster yet, but a whole boat load of talent. it will be interesting to see if lowell is shipped off to minnesota for romero or nathan. odds are the red sox will have a filler at short stop who can play some stellar defense. royce clayton, pokey reese, etc. i just hope all this money being gained isnt used to entice damon, whose worn out his welcome.

http://braves.scout.com/2/476154.html until the money is official, i'll wait to say my opinion on the deal although personally, even with lowell and youkilis at third, marte is about as "can't miss" as "can't miss" be. he'll be fun to watch, best of luck edgar.

this guys a journeyman and a junk thrower? this is a terrible signing for the Indians.

I am looking into buying a nice laptop as I will be needing it for college next year, and have the funds at the moment. I've been searching and doing some minor research on my own, but i figured i might be able to get some help here. $1000-1500$ price range, preferably less, but if its a really good one I wouldn't mind. I want wireless internet I feel aswell. What do you guys suggest?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) Did you see our lineup in the World Series this year? Kinda replace Rowand with Anderson and it'll look a lot like that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thank you captain obvious im just wondering what people think about having one of the top two most important players on the team on the bench.
-
what happens in interleague or if, dare i say, the White Sox make it to the World Series again? it's going to be tough having one of your best hitters on the bench.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) Last year he still put up 17 home runs and an .863 OPS outside of the Cell (and that's not counting the fact that he hit 3 postseason home runs on the road), so he's a better hitter at the Cell, but last year he was still pretty darn deadly on the road. 52 RBI at Home, 48 away for PK too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Konerko had an excellent season last year, i'm not doubting that. it's just outside of the cell he hasn't been a very good player (three year away splits = .248-.324-.432).
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) And given that the Angels still need a bat, I'd say "Until" is actually the correct word now. They'll find a way to get that done. And then Thome/Konerko will have to compete with Vlad the Impaler/Manny. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> eh... konerko is an average hitter at best outside of us cellular field.
-
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) f*** YES!!!!!!!!! Thome + Konerko = new best 1-2 punch. Am I wrong? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> until ramirez is traded, i'd go with ramirez and ortiz. not that it matters.
-
kind of out of the blue if you ask me, but i personally thought this day was inevitable. it's good to see him back where he belongs.
-
besides of course here: http://nyynews.com/
-
Can anyone confirm this?
-
if the angels do ink konerko, i think you can throw those earlier kenny williams comments out the door. in other words, i believe the white sox will be big players for ramirez if konerko doesn't resign.
