Ozzie article in the new Sports Illustrated
redandwhite replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) You don't even know what moves I make around here. There aren't very many, if any, when it comes to editing people. Get over yourself, I don't even go out of my way to get at you anymore, you just insist on continuing to push things. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So your admitting that at one time you went out of your way to get at me, which resulted in the two suspensions i've served without probable cause? Im all about forgiving and forgetting, if thats admitted, this problem is solved. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) He's always said what he thinks with no regard for what others think. This is no different. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats beside the point, and I completely understand what your saying about Alex Rodriguez in your previous post, on top of the fact that I agree with what Ozzie is saying here. It's just interesting that these remarks weren't made in the past, or i suppose its possible that he did make them, and nobody gave him the light of day prior to winning the Series... -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) He only stops by when Sonsofsamhorn slows down for the night. Forgive him for not realizing certain things are already posted on the board. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This thread was barely on the first page and entirely mistitled, not to mention, others are making the same mistake i did. it made perfect sense to me who deleted it as soon as i saw your name on the first page, why? because it goes in line with past decisions/moves you've made, all of which, were poor. i don't go to SoSH, for the umpteenth time, but carry on. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) I have no clue how their playing careers have any thing to do with what Ozzie said. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's taking full advantage of his new celebrity status; i just can't imagine anybody caring if Timo Perez said this, two similar players in terms of how terrible they are/were at the sport. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) Alex Rodriquez is the greatest baseball player in the world, one of the greatest of all time. Look at what he did in Texas, his play wasn't the reason they sucked, maybe his contract was, but how is it his fault Hicks offerred it to him? WS titiles have nothing to do with it. Rodriquez has dual citizenship. The DR and US wanted him on their team. He was in an unusual and awkward spot. Maybe he could have handled it better, I don't know, but its certainly not Ozzie Guillen's place to pop off about it. For a guy desperate to spend time with his family, maybe he ought to worry his family and no one else. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well said. I don't quite understand how Ozzie Guillen, a career '.264-.287-.338' player, has the right to say these things, regardless of how much i dislike Rodriguez. -

Well I could have guessed it was aboz making the poor moderating move... -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) The beloved Rob Neyer also did. He backed off of that after a month, which made no sense whatsoever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> if you remember following the 04 World Series, the ESPN panel was given a quick oppurtunity to say who they thought would win the World Series in 05 and Peter Gammons called on the White Sox as the favorites. He later changed his tune, but its interesting to note.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) Don't forget the oh-so-clever Judy Garland posts... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good one. ...or if Contreras falters, throwing KW under a bus for not trading him while his stock was high.

For what its worth, rotoworld quoting a projo article: "Keith Foulke was the first veteran to report to Red Sox camp. He threw for 13 minutes yesterday. That's "a great sign," manager Terry Francona said. "I think, in his own mind, he feels like he has some work to do and something to prove." Foulke had surgery on his left knee in July and on his right knee in October. There's no question that he'll be ready for Opening Day, but it remains uncertain whether he'll be the Keith Foulke of 2004 or the one who struggled mightily last year."

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) He is a mental midget. No wonder he can't be counted on. Hopefully you guys have someone who can step in and close in case he implodes. One of the best days in recent memory was trading him away. All he did was cough up big games. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was hardly the point of my post, and although I won't take it there, I disagree entirely with your opinion of Keith Foulke.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Points of b****ing next season. -Paul is way overpaid and not preforming. -Why did we trade for an injured Jim Thome -Vazquez sucks -Our bullpen blows -Anderson is a bum -This team has no heart -Ozzie doesnt know what he is doing Just wait, at one time or another, I expect all of these topics to be posted. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Add Joe Crede to that list. The guy is put up on a pedestal here for his contributions down the stretch last year. Little do people remember the fact that he was one of the easiest outs, in one of the most friendly offensive parks in the game, for over three-fourths of the season last year. - Paulie is overpaid, but I can't imagine that will be a problem. - Thome is going to be hit or miss, but if he's the latter, people will be missing A-Row. - I think Vazquez pitches well next season, despite pitching in a park that doesn't favor his abilities. - The bullpen is a definite issue. Can Jenks, Politte, Hermanson even come close to emulating the years they had last year? Keith Foulke will tell you, that you just never know. - I'm still holding out hope that Borchard wins the centerfielder job (ha) - This team has heart, period. - I think Ozzie is a horrible in-game manager, and I blamed much of that bump in the road late last year on him; the fact that the White Sox rolled and did the unthinkable hardly changes my opinion of Guillen's in-game abilities as a manager.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) Check out the A.L. East preview and you'll see why... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...view/index.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As Tony implied, my like or dislike of baseball previews has nothing to do with this clown suggesting the Red Sox will finish in third. Nothing. I only read that preview because it was linked to from an Eric Wilbur article in this mornings Globe. He makes some good points: http://www.boston.com/sports/nesn/wilbur/s...cast/index.html

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) Well, Pitchers and catchers report tomorrow, so I think it's a good time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are dead on, I just dislike previews in general.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) When should they do it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> To be honest, I am not a fan of previews at anytime, but Spring Training seems like an appropriate time. Personally, I think your guess is as good as these 'experts.'

previews, this early? lame.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) Boras is still Weaver's agent. Weaver and Boras were probably looking for a fat 5-year deal like Burnett but they couldn't find any takers. So Weaver will try to have a good year and go for another big deal next offseason. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i find it hard to believe that was there thinking, either way, boras did not get his job done here.

Official College Basketball Thread
redandwhite replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Well my Eagles pick up win number 20. I never understood why nonconference games were played this late in the season, the lack of motivation in tonights game was more than apparent. 20 wins nonetheless, and Boston College is playing there best basketball of the season. Oh, and I don't think I ever rubbed it in PH's face, so for the record BC beat up your Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, my friend. -
Borchard deserves an equal chance at winning a roster spot as anyone. I just hope he takes advantage this Spring.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) With Dusty around, Marquis has a guaranteed spot. Just watch. Dusty <3's veterans <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well in that case, this argument can be put to rest.

Red Sox preparing to make offer to Roger Clemens

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) If you don't like my posts, put me on ignore instead of ruining a thread with completely unrelated comments like the one above that are simply intended to bash posters. Your lame insults just end up ruining threads. I never once mentioned you in this thread so I'm not sure why you feel the need to bash me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you made a comment. i've asked repeatedly for a reason for the comment and have gotten nothing. that insult from me was as blind as the one you made earlier about this being a 'white sox board.' just answer this question, enough of the bs. -
thanks for sharing, thats cool.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) Not everything is about you. I never once mentioned you in this thread. Not sure why you feel the need to ask me stupid questions in a thread about the Red Sox begging for Roger Clemens. Once again, this is a White Sox board, not a Red Sox board. I think that fans begging for the return of an aging pitcher IN A PLANNED VIDEO is pathetic. Sorry that you disagree. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> rockraines did mention me but the two posts are not related as you seem to think. again though, answer the question i asked. why is it pathetic? not that i disagree or agree for that matter, im just curious as to why its pathetic. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) You're. But thanks though, I think im funny too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i find it hard to believe that your older than i am which you've claimed ever since you arrived here. your maturity is similar to SSH as of late, a prepubescent little boy, so its hard to differentiate. i apologize for forgetting the letter 'e' by the way. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) That makes a lot more sense than the offer itself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> correct.
