  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) Wille is a better rapper But really Stern has looked impressive as hell today both at the plate and in CF. Any reports on Willie so far from camp? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There was an article on redsox.com about him just a few days ago, let me bring it up. Let me tell you, I'm quickly becoming quite the fan. At this point Willie's on the team in my opinion, however, being that Stern has only 11 more days until he's property of the Red Sox, Willie might start the year at Pawtucket and be called up at a time when Stern (picked up in the rule-5) wouldnt have to be sent back to Atlanta.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) 3 to play, US still down 2. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Stern is really making his case here. How do you feel about Mr. Stern? Afterall, it's most likely either Stern or Harris for that final roster spot...
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) But 3/4th's of the posts on here are made by one of my personalities. Safely I can say I do my best to report what I know and aside from bad grammar, I'm pretty accurate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm just playing around. Keep doing what your doing. This website and yourself are both a complete success. You'll make it big, there isn't a doubt in my mind.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) living in Lombard. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know where he lived, but he was called out on the Red Sox board I post at, as he created an account and tried to pass of the ideas as rumors. Initially an 'unsubstantiated rumors' thread was created, and then I believe he ended up being banned.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) Whoa Whoa...that sounds like me when I was doing SoxNet. Aside from the whole dork part. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, there's no way with how you've turned out that you were going around decieving people with made up trade ideas, making up false personalities, and being an all around pain in the ass. Please tell me I'm right. Ha.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) June/July? I'm expecting it after opening night if Crede goes 0-4. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why didn't I think of that!? Perhaps this addition means that they won't be as lenient with Crede. That's great news.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) Do you remember when I wrote him an email about a trade rumor we made up, and it was mentioned slightly on his site the next week? That guy is a joke. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it was found out that that 'guy' was actually like 16 or 17 years old, a junior in high school, and living with his parents. What a dork.
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) To be honest, its not really his fault for posting something, then trying to defend himself when everyone else criticizes him. He's right that Cintron is overpaid, since he's going to be nothing more than a bench player. Does that matter? According to JR and KW, no. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree. Same old BS. It certainly appears as if people here want to discuss the Red Sox more than I do.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) To me, this is a stupid statement. The whole franchise has changed since last year's offseason. We're talking about an entire new budget we're dealing with. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Excellent point, thats true.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) Maybe you or your buddies at Rotoworld can name a few better back-ups since he is an average one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This was a good trade. I don't think it was a fleecing. Why is it as if I have said the same thing multiple times now?
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) Oh, your talking about that Alex Gonzalez. I'll shut up. I don't pay attention to the Red Sox and I was thinking of the one from the Cubs, who last I knew was on the Drays. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd have made the mistake too had fathom and Rock not made it abundantly clear that he played for the Red Sox.
  12. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Why are we talking about Alex Gonzalez anyways, hes on a different team..I do not feel like reading this entire thing? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> fathom and Rock are the reasons why Alex Gonzalez' name was brought up. As soon as I said it was only a really good deal and not a great deal, they both changed the subject almost entirely.
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Sigh, R&W ruins antoher thread. How is a Red Sox fan going to tell us $1.6 million for Alex Cintron is too much? $3 million for Alex Gonzalez to stink it up everyday. $1.4 million for Alex Cora $2.05 million fo Tony G. $3.75 million for Mark Loretta. :rolly <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Read the thread. It was instigated by fathom who has since apologize to me. Apology accepted by the way.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Haha, ok then. Getting a starter caliber player, who is affordable cheap, while giving up a piece of junk off the scrap heap seems like a fleecing to me. Usually when you give someone something you werent going to use because it doesn work, and you get something that works well and is fairly new, you fleeced them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If the White Sox had such a need for a utility infielder, you'd think a World Championship organization would have done something before mid-March. I like the deal, I like Cintron. I agree with you that Baj didn't have a place in this organization. My only real complaint is the money, and like I said from the start, I thought rotoworld made a good point: "Bajenaru was in the running to earn a spot on the White Sox as a middle reliever, but getting Cintron for him looks like a good move. Still, it's interesting to see that the team that was so hesitant to give Tadahito Iguchi even $2.5 million per season a year ago is going to pay $1.6 million for a rather average backup."
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) If someone gets hurt and he fills in as the starter, he is a bargain. He is a player that could start for many other teams. When you talk about caliber, he is starter caliber. 1.6 million for a starting SS is a bargain IMO. We got this guy for scraps, and he makes our bench one of the best in the league by far. This was a great trade by KW, and he was believed to be offering more than this last year and this offseason. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I like the trade aswell. I just don't think its a fleecing, which has been my stance from the start.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) Since people are making this comparison for some reason, I take Citron over Gonzalez. Gonzalez reminds me of Clayton in that he catches what is hit to him, but doesn't have impressive range. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's a quote from Ozzie Guillen back in his Marlin days stating that he thought Gonzalez was the best defensive shortstop he'd ever seen play the game. I don't agree with him, hell I don't agree with Ozzie on a lot of things, but take it for what its worth.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) How so? He is about as good as your teams starting SS, and could start for several Major league teams. Hows is he not worth a little over what Timo f***ing Perez made last year? Please enlighten me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with Jason, like I've said all along: QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) Technically, for the final bench spot it is a decent amount. The Dbacks saved some cash and its why they made this deal. They are also getting a guy who should be solid in there pen. That said its not excessive amount and he's a good ballplayer capable of starting if one of our guys goes down. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Hey RNW. If you are such a White Sox fan, since your other team won the World Series this year, why dont you change your avatar to reflect that? I mean, 2004 was 2 years ago. Why not celebrate this year's champ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I did my celebrating the night of with this board, and then at the parade that Friday. I skipped school and felt the repercussions that following Monday. Need I do more? if you want, I'll snap a photo with my World Champions t-shirt.. or I could take a picture of this $400 dollar 2005 White Sox team signed framed picture set for you/
  19. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) no kidding before we tlak about who is saying what or who is starting stuff or who is arguing...lets just take note of the fact that rednwhite is using Chuck norris jokes and subbing rock's name in. now please rednwhite...tell me how that is helping this board <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's going hand in hand with the argument we are having. Now answer this. How is giving oral to Rock helping this board?
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) For what Boston already has on their roster, the Gonzalez addition is fine. He's a much better fielder than Cintron, no question about it. What frustrated myself, and others I believe, is that you came on here acting like Cintron was this old veteran who's awful and paid a fortune. If the White Sox acquired him to start on the infield, then that would have been a bad deal. However, as a reserve, Cintron is definitely a solid player. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How did I come on here acting like Cintron was 'this old veteran who's awful'? I can see where you'd think I thought he was paid more than the 1.6 he's making, but in all seriousness, as Jas pointed out earlier, 1.6 for someone of Cintron's caliber isn't cheap.. at all.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Sorry RNW, I know you arent full of s***. You are the best baseball mind ever. Posted on: Dec 26, 2004 -> 10:33 PM "First off Vizcaino is better than Politte...Hermanson too..." One of many where you were spot on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I liked Vizcaino alot. Politte and Hermanson had incredible seasons last year. I was wrong. I'm sure if I kept track of everything you said and had all the time in the world to look back at it, I could find many things you said to be flat out wrong too. - Rock has two speeds. Walk, and kill.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Yet his batting average also went up considerably last year over the 23 home run year. Could very well have been a different hitting approach. But yea, could also have been something else. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Balta, my friend, you didn't know? Rock cannot be wrong. - Guns don't kill people, Rock kills people. - Rock does not sleep. He waits. - Rock' tears cure cancer. It's too bad he's never cried.
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Why is Cintron making $1.6 million considered hefty, but the Red Sox signing a guy with a .319 obp last year, who dipped to 5 homers from 23, perhaps from a lack of special vitamins for $3 million a solid signing? Guys like Gonzalez are going to soon make ticket prices at Fenway even more ridiculous than they are now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Alex Gonzalez is making more than lets say an Alex Cintron because Gonzalez didn't go through the arbitration process as Cintron did. Being the older player, and that he's more widely known, he's going to be paid more. Also, he is making 3 million dollars, but at the same time, there are many perks of this deal. For instance he can but cut before the season starts at no cost at all.
  24. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) the conversation seemed to be goin fine until you posted <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So my presense alone is what spurred this? Please, pal. Open your eyes. Fathom and Rock are 100% at fault here. It's clear to anyone with a brain that my post had nothing to do with the Red Sox whatsoever. I was always told opinions are like asses, everybody has one. I can see now that this isn't entirely true, because there are the fathoms and Rock's of the world who while have opinions on everything and are very outspoken about them, it is completely unfeasible to believe that they have asses. Afterall, they are full of s***.
  25. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Juan Uribe. Cesar Izturis before he was hurt. 2 years ago: Edgar Renteria. Orlando Cabrera. And I think the Pirates have a good one too. But you are right...he's in the top few. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 'One of the best' was what I said. Uribe' up there, Izturis' is up there. Cabrera, Renteria, Jack Wilson, Alex Cora... they are all up there. Good post.
