  1. Welcome to Soxalk, and dont you mean Hannukah
  2. QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 05:58 PM) You're f***ing crazy if you think a professional sports team is intentionally going after white players to sell tickets. It's incredibly racist to make the assumption that Minnesotans only would buy tickets to see a white team, and considering the vast majority of the white players on the team are INTERNATIONAL players, it's an even bigger preposterous statement. Winning sells tickets. It's as simple as that. The two most beloved Minnesotan athletes in history are Kevin Garnett and Kirby Puckett (OH MY GOD BLACKIES!!!). The claim is ludicrous, and anyone that wastes their time believing it or even considering it needs to get a life. you just fed the troll a filet mignon
  3. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Logan Morrison reportedly being shopped now. Interesting guy for the Sox I think. At 1st Base yes. He's a terrible outfielder, but a fantastic tweeter.
  4. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) Not sure about specifically Mexicans but I know latino's in general have a handful of rising stars in the world of politics. With the ncreasing latino demographics these latino politicians are likely only to grow in importance and prominence in the coming decades I cant wait to have a son so I can exclusively show him latino politicians as role models because a guy like Derrick Rose, who comes from a disgusting part of Chicago and made something of his life by working hard at what he is good at, is black, therefore he would never be able to relate in any way or find any meaningful inspiration from his story.
  5. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) I disagree, they NEED black hero's. Black people in the 40's and 50's used to watch TV and see only white people, and wondered why there were no people like them on there. It feeds into an inferiority complex and a white standard of beauty which has been scientifically researched (the doll experiment). When kids do not see positive rolemodels who look like them on TV and in the media they start wondering why. It still goes on to this day, it's hard for a black girl to feel beautiful when she looks on Tv and in magazines and sees nothing but lightskinned black girls with straightened hair. People definitely need hero's that look like them. Skin color and ethnicity matters, no matter how politically incorrect it is to say so. What about Mexican children then? How many role models do we have in the athletic world that arent soccer players or anywhere else to look up to? I wish I had a Jesse Owens or Jim Brown or Michael Jordan or Barack Obama or Oprah Winfrey or etc etc. I never once questioned why David Robinson wasnt Mexican, I just saw him as an awesome player and a seemingly great human being.
  6. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) black little boys and girls also need black hero's on TV and in the media to admire. Don't tell me it doesn't matter what color or ethnicity the hero's are, it does matter. they dont NEED black hero's. Anyone can be a hero regardless of skin color, especially at a young age, little kids dont learn to discriminate until theyre taught to. When I moved to Chicago my pops steered me towards amazing atheletes like Bo Jackson and Frank Thomas, they are not hispanic.
  7. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) Hey there's something to that. People want to cheer for people who look more like them. It's why I consider Paul Konerko a modern day white mans working class hero. It WOULD be different if he were black....and young...er Wat. Ill cheer for anyone as long as they make my favorite teams more awesome. Dont really care if he looks like Pancho Villa or Jim Halpert
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 01:37 PM) I think what we all just want is a GTA MMORPG where its just a city of mayhem and killing people. and set it in the southside of Chicago #realism
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) red dead was awesome, but I got bored with LA Noire about half way through the game. Yeah LA Noire didnt do anything for me, i thought it was going to be a lot cooler than it was, with the Film Noir Detective concept the end result really should have been epic. Im excited for the new GTA, rumors say that the map is going to be bigger than all previous installations of the game COMBINED. They really need to bring back the RPG type system from San Andreas where you level up your weapon proficiency, and can eat your way to being 400 pounds or work out your way to being a sexy walking muscle.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) you must break her of this as I have broken my wife!
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) Um, because their owner is Jeffrey Loria. Yeah, marlins fans have seen this guy at work enough to know what this is all really about.. Although I could see Arod coming, we do need a 3rd baseman, and a short stop, and a pitching staff, and a starting lineup.
  12. QUOTE (onedude @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 11:42 AM) yes, oh god yes, all over my face
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 11:11 AM) Logan Morrison ‏@LoMoMarlins Here is a tweet dedicated to my moronic followers! Why get mad about something you can't control? Going to work and play as hard as ever Logan Morrison ‏@LoMoMarlins hey @JonHeymanCBS I just read that we got mathematically eliminated from the 2013 playoffs. Is that true? Tweeters are really letting him have it after that tweet, its comedy gold
  14. spirit airlines is dirt cheap if you pack light and dont care about comfort
  15. Im predicting the Las Vegas Marlins within 5 years, the shiny new Marlins Park becomes the new stadium of the Miami Hurricanes, and Loria is given the Benito Mussolini treatment in Miami.
  16. QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) I honestly wonder if they will trade Stanton. He doesn't cost anything...yet. But he's obviously pissed off and wont want to be there, but will Loria give a s*** about that? Probably not, like you said he doesnt cost anything therefore he gets to stay. Nolasco is probably the next to go, and once he does, the marlins payroll will be close to just $10 million. Ballin' on a budget!
  17. Id like to see a blue jays forum react to this. It must be like an early Hannukah for them. Marlins board is livid, everyone in Miami is jumping ship to Cuba.
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 06:36 PM) What, suddenly the Marlins will be more discerning? When it comes to money yeah, the Marlins franchise is basically just a feeder club, we develop 'em, you sign 'em.
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 06:21 PM) http://deadspin.com/5960332/the-miami-marl...dium=socialflow Hah, i love how Loria has those "Deal with it" shades on in that photo.
  20. Off-topic but i think Stanton to the White Sox would generate serious revenue especially if he gets signed to a 7 year redonkulous deal that ensures that i wont be throwing away his authentic sox jersey next trade deadline.. An exciting young stud that can almost guarantee fireworks each night, girls in the stands in right field constantly throwing panties at him (and him making an error, but still looking good doing it). /pipedream
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 06:13 PM) LOL what? How does this trade make us look bad? You think we had an extra $40M or so to throw at this deal? Jays are taking on TONS of salary, salary the Sox didn't have the chance to throw around. I thought you were talking about the Marlins at first, but then you said "us", so I'm confused. sorry for not clarifying Sincerely, Former Marlins Fan
  22. “@MatthewBerryTMR: RT @tunasweasel: That is a trade I would have vetoed as fantasy commissioner @MatthewBerryTMR @AdamSchefter”
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) Sox should trade Viciedo, Thompson, Sanchez, Santiago, and any two other eligible-to-be-traded milb players to the Marlins for Stanton. Id love to see Stanton on the sox, there would be Joe Borchard-esque HRs every home game. This franchise is a disgrace, im dying to hear what the explanation from the higher ups is going to be. Theres never any damn consistency with us, its really amazing seeing your team get blown up every 2 years and watching former favorites flourish with other teams. Its only a matter of time before Stanton bolts, hopefully its to the white sox and not anywhere on the west coast.
  24. I still have the soul of a 21 year old, i like turning bulls games into drinking games. Shotgun an old style after every Carlos Boozer moan, or take a beer bong up the butt for every minute Deng plays after 40 minutes total.
  25. If starbucks releases a White Chocolate Mocha K-Cup flavor then i will definitely never have to see the hipsters behind the starbucks counter ever again.
