I Love The White Sox!
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Further proves how dumb the O's are. They keep offering long term big money contracts to hitters while not ever going after pitchers. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Exactly! If Paulie wants to win another title he will take the least amount of money and stay on a contender. The O's have to many boppers and no pitching. The few other teams that worry me are Boston and Anahiem. But they haven't offered him a deal yet?
-
Isn't Patterson due for arbatration soon? So Flordia won't want him. Who in the Cubs organization fits what the Marlins want? They seem to want young pitching and OF prospects.
-
The fact is- we have more minor league talent than the Cubs have to offer. So wouldn't you say we are ahead of the Cubs in the Pierre sweepstakes?
-
Howry had a great year in Cleveland. Good news for us: he's out of the AL Central & the Cubs once again overpaid for a reliever LOL!
-
QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) Sounds good. I like pierre as well. I'm just afraid the price to get him will be pretty steep I don't think it will be that steep. Flordia has a fire-sale going. They obviously want cheap young talent in return and the Sox have a lot of young talent to go around. Sweeney, Broadway, Bajenaro, Young, Borchard, Fields, Diaz, Adkins exe....
-
JR & KW listens to his fans unlike most owners and GMs. Not only that but, like I said before JR wanted more power- KW obliged. Ozzie wants more speed in the 2 hole AND Pierre fits that bill perfectly! You figure even if it doesnt work out, Pierre is a free agent in '07 so then Anderson can be our CF. I don't know i just like the chances of him here next year.
-
was that you beck or ssh on the score Some fan pretty much said- Juan Pierre will be on the Sox! Woohoo. I'm starting to want this now. More than i wanted it before.
-
Ryan Sweeney for Juan Pierre straight up!
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) I don't think Pierre would be worth Brian Anderson considering he is a free agent after 2006. I wouldn't give up much more than Marte for Pierre. Yep the Marlins have been in love w/ Marte for awhile now. And since they are in re-building mode they will probably also ask for a young prospect as well. Like a Ryan Sweeney or something like that.
-
QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) I have to put this out there--would you be willing to trade Brian Anderson as part of a deal to get Pierre? Because from the looks of it, the marlins will be looking for someone to play LF and Cf to start in 2006. If I were the Marlins, I'd want an Ofer in return I'm not sure. KW is absolutely in love with BA so the Marlins would have to sweeten the deal. It would have to be a 2-3 player deal.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) Keep in mind that Levine has flip-flopped on his Pierre report about ten times since his first one that he was headed to the Cubs. Very true. Levine is the ultamate flip-flopper. HEY BRUCE :finger make up your mind!

Here is what Shuster thinks the '06 lineup will look like: 1. Podsednick LF 2. Pierre CF 3. Thome DH 4. Konerko 1B 5. Pierzynski C 6. Dye RF 7. Iguchi 2B 8. Crede 3B 9. Uribe SS Wow that does look good. But is KW a super GM? Can he do that?
-
Hmmm.. Shuster- thinks Pierre comes here. Levine- thinks Pierre doesnt. Interesting. Well- JR wanted power = KW obliged. OG wants more speed= It only makes sense for Pierre to come here.
-
My thoughts- KW goes after an OF with speed. Iguchi's importance to our first World title in 88 years secured himself a spot in '06. I don't see Iguchi as our DH- he's a solid 2B. That being said- I can see KW going after a Pierre type player. But according to Bruce Levine- Pierre won't be coming to the Sox. So who knows?
-
According to EPSN radio's Bruce Levine- the Sox are 'out' of the Pierre sweepstakes- so as of right now the Center fielder will be Brian Anderson. However, anything can happen. As of right now- here is KW's to do list: 1. Sign Pauly (and if not- make another trade to aqcuire a 1B. For example: Overbay) 2. Explore other CF options out there. Is BA ready to be the everday CFer? We are defending the WS title 3. Make 1 or 2 moves to bolster the pen even more. I'm guessing Marte will be leaving this offseason- that being said another lefty in the pen would be nice. Duque and Marte for Overbay anybody?

Anyone hear anything new regarding a CF replacement? I.E. Pierre, Damon, J. Jones or are we just going to put Anderson out there? -

I have to say i am not too pleased w/ this deal. Not only that but doesn't this hurt the chemistry? THe 3 stooges are going to be heart broken. And will Pauly want to re-sign now? He was good friends with A-Row -
Quick question to the Phillies organization (And I hope KW asked the same thing): Why the hell would we trade away the 2nd best defensive CF (Rowand) in the game and the arguably one of the best pitchers in baseball (Contreras) for an ageing slugger with a ridiculous contract? What a joke. I would counter that offer with Joe Borchard and Baj deal. But nobody from out champion roster. Believe me we are much better off w/o Thome then to lose Rowand, BMac, or Contreras. Might as well just re-sign Thomas and hope he stays healthy. So screw off Philly- go try and rip some other team off.
-
Mueller is ok. But is he really that much better than the 'rally crede'? I don't think so. Maybe as a 1B/3B backup. But will he take on that role? I doubt it. I don't see this happening.

According to Jayson Stark: "Contrary to numerous reports, the Texas Rangers aren't the leading contender to land Marlins starter Josh Beckett in a package deal with third baseman Mike Lowell. Josh Beckett Starting Pitcher Florida Marlins Profile 2005 SEASON STATISTICS GM W L BB K ERA 29 15 8 58 166 3.38 According to baseball officials who have been in contact with Florida, the Marlins have two other potential deals -- with Boston and an unnamed "mystery" team" could that mistery team be the White Sox? KW loves flying under that radar. But we are maxed out at pitching. Unless this is the first of a chain of events happening. Like #1 Beckett and Pierre for Rowand and top prospect. #2 White Sox trade Garland and prospect to Phils for Thome? I dunno im probably overthinking this situation.
-
I'm all for this KW! Just please don't trade away any of our starting pitchers! They are what got us a WS title!
-
No thank you- why tamper with a championship type product. I love our outfield as is. And why are we stressing for more speed? We need more power. If I were KW I would try my heart out to re-sign Konerko first. Then starting thinking about Thome. After that everything is okely-dokely-doo! Why trade Rowand (an awesome defensive oufielder who can hit for a decent average, has some power and some speed) for more speed, a defensive downgrade, and less power? Makes no sense to me?! I'm going to have to pull a Hawk and say "Where would he play?" Iguchi is fine at #2. Enough said. This is what I want as our '06 starting lineup: 1. Pods LF 2. Gooch 2B 3. Dye RF 4. Pauly 1B 5. Thome DH 6. Rowand CF 7. A.J. C 8. Crede 3B 9. Uribe SS Not many changes nessecarry but the add of Thome makes us a bigger offensive threat and we still have pleanty of speed!

What is Ichiru's contract status?
-
Its not even worth dreaming about. The Mariners will ask for the entire team for Ichiru. However, a 1-2 punch of Pods and Ichiru is druel worthy.
