  1. I'll pass on this trade. I'll take my chances on having Garland and Contreras in our rotation next year and losing 1 of them after next season via free agency. I can see Contreras re-signing to us while Garland leaving after '06. Well have you guys looked at the free agent market in '06? Its pretty deep pitching wise, I would like to see Mulder make his way to South side in replace of Garland. Then we can have a lefty, righty, lefty, righty, righty setup in our rotation. I expect to see this: 2006 Rotation- Buerhle, Contreras, Garland, Garcia, McCarthy 2007 Rotation- Buerhle, Contreras, Mulder (or someone else), Garcia, McCarthy
  2. I can see A.J. signing to a 2-3 year extension once January hits. By then KW will be done with his 'fine tuning' And can focus on giving contract extensions to AJ, Crede, and Garland to avoid arbitration. I can see Joe and A.J. signing to 2-3 year deals while Garland I can see signing for a 1 year deal to avoid arbitration. This is most likely Jon G's last year with us. Lets make the most of this rotation. Because after 2006, who knows what will happen with Contreras and Garland. At least we know BMac, Garcia and Buerhle will be here for a few more years.
  3. QUOTE(bulokis @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) Thome and Rowand. Just think if we are able to get Thome without giving Aaron. We still have the same lineup with a big LH bat in the middle. In a perfect world that would happen. But in order to get something- you have to get something. We saw it with Garcia (losing Reed). But i'll take my chances with Anderson.

QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) Thats all we need. A player that wants out because he is on a losing team. He signed the contract, honor it! ditto! ^^^^ Its typical for the Red Sox and Cubs to go after a guy like that. Yep- TRASH there farm system for a 'super star' player.
  5. can someone post B. Anderson's minor league stats.
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) According to the poll, both players would be 100% healthy, which I took to mean not going to get hurt during the year. yep thats the question. If both Thome and Thomas go through the entire 2006 season with no injuries what would ou rather have.
  7. Thome's stats in 2004 (his last full season): .274 42HR and 102 RBIs Thomas' stats in 2003 (his las full season): .267 42HR and 105 RBIs that is pretty similar. I just like the fact that Thome is left handed. Although Thomas walks more and strikes out less.
  8. I would have to say Thome because of his left handed power and the potential of Brain Anderson. If he is as good as KW says he is- its going to be a fun season in 2006. It still doesn't take away the fact that both Thomas and Rowand will be missed.
  9. Its okay. he was nothing special. If we are going to trade Marte we should go after someone with more success than Marte. I think Rincon is that guy. He's still out there and every time we've hit against him- we struggled. I like his stuff. Bring him aboard KW. I'm sure A.J. will give you solid insight on this 'keed'.
  10. speaking of Lofton. Is it me or does KW have an infacuation with veteran former Indians? We've had: Sandy Alomar, Roberto Alomar, Bartolo Colon, Kenny Lofton, almost had Omar Vizquel, Albert Belle (although not from KW) and now Jim Thome. Thats 2/3rds of there 1996 World Series team. Geeze!
  11. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Been there done that hell no! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ditto
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 05:19 AM) No thanks. Brian Anderson is gonna be our cf. People need to let it go. Exactly. I let it go once Pierre was traded to the Cubs. BA is our CFer. The only move KW will make is a utiluty INFer. I know its boring, but our team just won the world series after all.
  13. McCarthy is an untouchable. Enough said. I doubt KW makes any more trades, execpt to aqcuire a backup LH utility INF. Brian Anderson will be our every day CFer. And McCarthy will be our 5th starter. I don't care what Ozzie says- El-duque will be in our bullpen and on an ocassion be our spot starter. You figure Buerhle and Garcia will probably need a few breaks early on in the year due to their contributions the the World Baseball Classic.
  14. Any other talk about this rumor? All we have is that mlbtraderumors.com source, and quite frankly i don't think its too reliable. TB are going to ask for the moon if they are going to trade Crawford. He is the face of their organization. They are definitely going to ask for starting pitching, Anderson and Fields. YIKES!
  15. QUOTE(Kenkait Sox Fan @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) Wouldn't it be great to see the Sox acquire Patterson and have Greg Walker turn him around. Strangly this last week I was thinking WHAT IF.. KW took a chance and traded for Patterson. He is a solid defensive CFer. But for some reason he just couldn't click on the North side. But would the Cubs trade with us? Who would they ask for? I just don't see it happening. He needs a change of scenary and remaining and going from Clark & Addison to 35th & Shields is not that much of a scenary change. Well of course our scenary is a world champion scenary
  16. Any word on his contract status? Hopefully it will be a 2 year deal and he will hit 26 HR next year and 25 HR the year after. Than he can come here in 2008 hit #500 for the Sox and retire Hey I can dream right?
  17. QUOTE(LoFiStew @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) Kenny Williams said in today's Chicago Tribune that Uribe's move to the second spot in the order wasn't written in stone and that they'd make adjustments if necessary. I think it's worth a try. Uribe actually showed some decent bat control and patience in September and the post-season. Maybe batting second will help him maintain his focus at the plate. Plus, I want to see what Iguchi can do when he's not giving himself up one or two times a game. Ditto! I can see Gooch hitting 30 HRs and having 25 SBs in 2006.
  18. Pods, Uribe, Thome, Konerko, Dye, Iguchi, Pierzynski, Crede, Anderson. Looks good to me. KW doesn't need to make a move to make me happy. I think we can defend our title with that lineup. Would I prefer a veteran out in CF- YES! But at the right cost.
  19. Last year during Soxfest during the Q&A session with Ozzie, Kenny and Hawk, Ozzie said he was going to bat Uribe 2nd, until KW aqcuired Iguchi in January. Things change over the offseason. KW could acquire someone else to plug in the 2 hole OR things can remain the same. The only thing we know for sure is- Iguchi will be lower in the order to provide some pop and to balance the lineup.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) I hope that time has past. Were not in a position to out looking to bring back former fan favorites and guys that are "gamers". Graff is alright, but there are better fits out there right now for this team. Other than Mueller who would accept a utility role? And who is better than Graff out there via free agency? So who are these better fits your talking about?
  21. CLE

GreatScott82 replied to LDF's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lets not forget Byrd was the only pitcher able to beat us in the playoffs DAMN Byrd- I wanted to go 11-0!
  22. I don't see Mueller going to Pittsburgh. I can see him go to LA though. If he can play everyday in LA over backing up here on the Sox we won't be seeing Mueller coming here. Time to start looking into bring Graff back here. I know he's not a LH hitter but he's a fan favorite and he's a gamer.
  23. What happened to the whole Mueller thing? Haven't heard much about it lately.
  24. Vazquez is a head case. No thank you. Keep Garland for '06. TB would want a few players that are garunteed for 3 to 4 years down the road.
  25. Prediction: Sox will get Pierre for Young. I expect Pierre to go somewhere very soon. And if the Sox sign Pierre- the Cubs will once again lose out on one of there "targets" this offseason. Not to mention it would create a hell of a 1-2 punch on our team. Go for it Kenny!
