  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) The Angels got a lot of talent and I absolutely love Casey Kochman. However the Angels are a far worse team this year than they were last year and barring any major moves I don't anticipate them making the playoffs. If you don't like the Angels out of the west than who do you like? Its a weaker division, but I think the Angels are still the favorite. The A's on the other hand could be a surprise. If they pick up a 'healthy' Frank and with there solid young pitching to go along with Zito they might take the west.
  2. Contract year or not I expect Jose to have a dominant season! IMO he truly figured it all out. Crede on the other hand- I expect the same: .250-.260 avg ~20 hrs, 60 rbis, solid defense and clutch hitting.
  3. QUOTE(rventura23 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) Im a little surprised people think we are number one, mets are a little high a #4 Are you suprised that people think we are #1? Or are you suprised the entire country thinks we are #1? Because im not surprised one bit. You figure we add a powerful Lefty handed bat to our lineup (Thome), add a power arm to already a bolstered staff (Vazquez), and add arguably the best utility man in baseball (Mackowiak) to an already World Championship team... your damn right we are #1!
  4. I love this fan poll they have on ESPN.com in there mlb section. According to the fans across the country the White Sox are #1 in power rankings heading to the 2006 season. I LOVE IT! Here is the link http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnatio...stranker?id=442
  5. I'm not a big fan of winter myself. Back in the day it was cool when the Blackhawks were actually 'good' and the Bulls had there dynasty going. But lets face it- its a baseball town, a white sox town and once again a championship town! The thing I cant wait for the most is seeing how our new players fit in: Jim Thome, Javier Vazquez, and Rob Mackowiack. And seeing how B. Anderson plays as an everyday CFer. It will also be interesting who wins that final spot in our bullpen, not to mention how BMac does in the pen. It will also be interesting to see how Borchard does off the bench this year. To qoute a corny hip hop band: "Lets get it started" But until then, let the Bears beat the crap out of Carolina!
  6. Now if we can only get Vazquez and Garcia to change there minds we will be set
  7. lol that song was hillarous. appreciate the effort, but such a terrbile song.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) I'd have to say it's becoming pretty clear that Anderson will be the starting CF for the Sox next season. After everything KW's said, it would look real bad upon Anderson if he acquired someone else (and this is coming from someone who doesn't believe much of what KW says in the media). I agree. This tells you how confident KW is in Brian Anderson. To let a rookie play the the most important outfield possition on a World Championship team is really something. Well hopefully in 2006 we will see why KW was soooo high on this kid since he drafted him. I just remember those 2 homeruns off Felix Hernandez in Seattle last year, that was huge! Anyways in Kenny I trust, and if he says Brian is ready to be a fulltime player on our roster I believe him!
  9. Kenny seems content with the 6 starters. I doubt this trade happens unless the O's beef it up.
  10. Lets look at the Pros and cons to this deal. Pros: 1. Contreras is in the last year of his deal so he would likely leave after the 2006 season anyways. 2. Tejada is one of the best players in baseball. He hits for average and power every single year. His defense is above average. 3. Would solify our starting lineup for years to come. Cons: 1. You lose the insurance of that 6th starter in case of injury. 2. You lose arguably the best defensive SS in the game, not to mention he is very cheap. 3.You lose even more outfield depth in Sweeney. This deal scares me too much!
  11. not all the time. they use newspapers across the country and use radio shows across the nation as references as well.
  12. A good friend speculated an interesting trading scenario in regards to Prior. He claims that the Cubs will indeed trade Prior and prospects to the Orioles for Tejada out of vulnerbility from being the 'new' 2nd team in town And since the Orioles would be worried about Priors health they would ship him to the White Sox for Jose Contreras and a couple of mid-level prospects. So the Orioles would get about 5-6 solid prospects out of these moves plus Contreras in which they can trade during the midseason for even more prospects. Lets face it the Orioles are going to re-build. And the Orioles KNOW Contreras is healthy and are questioning Priors health. CAN you guys imagine Prior on the Sox?!?! It would ruin the Cubs forever! Prior, Buerhle, Garland, Garcia, Vazquez, McCarthy = WOAH!!!!!!!! Hey in Kenny you never know
  13. Makes sense for Seattle, they want to beef up there pitching (although Arroyo is not that good) and Patterson is worth the gamble. Makes sense for Boston, they get a player with tons of potential in Reed. Makes NO sense for the sCrubs. Where would Ibanez play LF? He's nothing special, and what would Graff do platoon with Walker? I hope for Graffs sake he doesn't get traded there.
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) Yes, he (KW) said it would likely be filled by a non roster invitee or one of the two guys from the minors, Munoz or Reynoso. BTW Chad Bradford is a righty and he signed with the Mets. sounds good. a little competition in Spring Training is always fun to see. And your right Bradford is a righty. my bad.
  15. The team is pretty much set. However, we are missing a lefty to go along with Cotts in our bullpen. Has anyone heard anything about acquirering a lefty? Things have been silent lately. There were some rumblings about Bradford but his health is a concern. Some of KW options are to bring up a lefty from the minors such as Munoz, or aqcuire a veteran via trade or free agency. How do you guys think KW will approach in filling in this minor hole?
  16. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 03:08 AM) But what if we lose Contreras after 2006 to free agency. Would you rather have Uribe or Tejada after 2006 if Contreras goes elsewhere? You have to also keep that in consideration. than you plug McCarthy into the rotation. right now he's in the bullpen- which is good because he can work on establishing his change up in 2006. If Contreras walks after 2006 than so be it. Right now we are stronger with him than w/o him. It gives Ozzie insurance in case of injury, and w/ BMac coming onto the scene we can afford losing him after the 2006 season. Right now it makes sense to keep him. We simply don't need Tejada. Our teams strength is pitching depth. We won the world series because of pitching depth and defense. Why change that by trading Uribe and Conteras for some more power ?
  17. Tejada is good. But we simply have no need for him. We have enough power on offense w/ Dye, Konerko and Thome and others. Uribe is better defensively not to mention MUCH cheaper. Keep Uribe, keep Contreras END OF STORY!
  18. Just wanted to say Happy New Year Sox fans. What a year 2005 was for us Sox fans. Being on top of the baseball world for the first time in 88 years has really been special. So many great memories. Lets do this thing again in 2006- YOU CAN PUT THAT ON THE BOOOAAARRRDD YEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
  19. Keep Jose. If neccessesary ship him at the deadline if we absolutely need to fill a hole on our team. I'm pretty sure thats what Kenny has in mind.
  20. I don't like this trade 'rumor' for 2 reasons: 1. We lose that 6th man insurance in our rotation if someone gets hurt. 2. Not that I wouldn't mind having Tejada, however Uribe is about equal defensively, he's extremely cheaper and he fits the Ozzieball scheme better. Don't we have enough power? We can only have so many power hitters. We need those contact hitters, we need those players who will sacrfice the runners. Call me crazy but i say no deal. A lot of teams need a Tejada on their teams. The White Sox don't. But I do have to admit it would be one dangerous lineup: Pods, Gooch, Tejada, Konerko, Thome, Dye, AJ P, Crede, Anderson
  21. I think Jose will stay this season. However, I don't think KW will sign him to an extension this offseason. McCarthy will take up Vizciano's spot in the pen while KW will try to add another lefty via free agency or likely just bring up Munoz from the minors to fill that roll. Its pretty simple actually. It was either Jose or Jon G signing an extension, since it was Jon G- this will be Jose's last year w/ the Sox. 2006 Rotation: Buerhle, Contreras, Garland, Garcia, Vazquez Bullpen: Jenks, Hermy, Cotts, Pollite, McCarthy, Munoz? free agent? 2007 Rotation: Buerhle, Garland, Garcia, Vazquez, McCarthy

  23. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Felix Pie isnt a pitcher Doh! I knew that I meant to say Angel Guzman. I guess I kept on hearing the name Felix Pie I thought he was a pitcher. Than again the Cubs have a lack of pitching
  24. This whole 4 way trade proposal is BS. Bedard is solid, however why would the O's want Garland for 1 year and Ramerez as well when they know how screwed up in the head Manny is and they know Garland will walk after 1 season? IMO the O's would get screwed the most out of this deal. Manny would end up being un-happy and demand another trade, while Garland will pitch the '06 season in Baltamore and head west via free agency. Of course this deal makes sense for both the Cubs and Red Sox, but than again this was a Boston writer who speculated this deal. For the White Sox- this deal makes a lot of sense. Bedard gives us another reliable lefty out of our pen. He can spot start when neccessary and will be under our control contractually for the next 2-3 years (KW loves that). If we can get a solid pitching prospect in this deal like Felix Pie, I'm all for it. But like I said before this deal makes no sense for the O's.
  25. The 4 teams I know are interested in Jon are Houston, Texas, LA Angels and LA Dodgers. What out of those teams has the most to offer as far as bullpen help? Good bye Jon G! We stuck with you- now you are going to get paid somewhere else.
