I have to agree with that MORONotti article. Rieny and KW failed to add a bat to bolster our chances. Now we are about they are about to fail once again. KW's offeason moves= A- KW's mid-season moves= F-.

Our Wildcard magic # is 8. For those of you who think we will make it via the wildcard.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) Is there any surprise that millwood has pitched his best against the sox this year? Gotta love that 1.29 era in 21 innings while holding the sox to a .211 avg. He is 0-2 agains the sox this season in three starts... but surely not because of him. If Millwood pitches like he did his first 2 starts against us- we don't have a chance tonite. There is no way we shut out the Indians tonite. I expect a 5-4, 4-3 type game. My nerves are starting to kick in now- a little over 3 hours away from the series of the year.

It looks like the A's and Yankees will be cheering us on this series as they are also focusing on a playoff spot. Look at these tight races: Central: White Sox 90-58 Indians 87-62 - 3.5 games back East: Red Sox 87-62 Yankees 85-63 - 1.5 games back West: Angels 84-65 Athletics 82-67 - 2 games back Wildcard: Indians 87-62 Yankees 85-63 - 1.5 games back Athletics 82-67 - 5 games back

Right now Clevelands bats are extremelely hot. The keys to tonights's game is for Freddy to AVOID that big first inning. Once that is done- we need to give him some run support. So a quick start off Millwood is HUGE. Freddy pitches much better once he has a 2-3 run lead. He is still effective when pitching on the defense, but when he has that lead- he can be dominant. We NEED to take 2 of 3 from them. And winning the 1st game to this series is very pivital. Come on Freddy- we need you now more than ever before!! Time for that Cleveland flame to burn out!

Bring it on YTown! -Your flame is about to be burned out!!

Who's not going to the Indians series
GreatScott82 replied to Tadahito Iguchi's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm going to Tuesdays game. It better be a full-house for all 3 games- this is by far the biggest series of the year. Since no one else can beat Cleveland- we are going to have to do it ourselves. NOT IN OUR HOUSE b****ES!!!!!!! This will be the series that the White Sox Nation will arise and be glorious- this will be the serie where we go back up 4.5 games, this will be the series where Buerhle and Garcia snap out of it and win that "BIG" game for us. For those of you quiters out there- this is just fate testing our loyalty. We will prevail. Oh yes we will prevail. So come out to the Cell and be loud, support our team that we love, and help our Sox give Cleveland something that they have deserved for awhile now- A SERIES FREAKING LOSS!! -
Hopefully they can go 9-7 the rest of the way. BUT i think its very possible to Cleveland to go 13-2. Remember they have KC 5 more times and Tampa 3 times- not a difficult task with the way that they are playing. We basically control our own destiny. We have 6 games left with them- if we split (3-3 vs them) And go 6-4 against the other teams ( Minny, Detroit) were in. We control our own desitiny, now lets take one more in Minny and come home for the biggest series of the year!
-
I love your optimism Texsox. BUT the thought of us having a 14.5 game lead shrink to just 4.5 makes me want to cry. But i do agree. Its a new 17 game season- we have a 4.5 game lead in the Central. And its time to play good fundamental baseball and have fun. Don't play scared. You never know- maybe KC taking the last 2 games from us was a blessing in disguise. Now they are going into Cleveland on a high-note and maybe they can sneak out of there winning 2 games?!? After all Cleveland is much better on the road- than at home anyways. Lets beat those damn Twinkies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just do it my fellow soxtalk peeps.

Official Game Thread, Sox vs. Royals, 9/15/05
GreatScott82 replied to Balta1701's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Nothing would please Minny more than spoiling our playoff chances. I expect to only win 1 up there in Minny. Cleveland should take 2 of 3 (at minimum) from KC (something we should've done). So that will bring our lead down to 3.5 going into this HUGE series vs Cleveland. Those 3 games will be our playoffs. Its as simple as that. If we lose that series- than we won't make the playoffs. I got playoff tickets too please make the playoffs. please starting winning. please stop f***ing up. -
QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:09 AM) Post Of The Year I will be a Sox fan and believe in this team until there isn't a breath left in me. There magic number is 13 and Cleveland's is 23, let's be realistic. Call me crazy- but todays game is a MUST WIN! With the Indians idle tonite, we need to make a strong statement. 5.5 we can breath, if it goes to 4.5 then you'll have Sox fans driving their cars off bridges. Lets break it down. Yes our magic # is 13 and the Indians' is 23. But lets look at the remaining schedules: We have 18 games left- The Indians have 16 games left- 1 @ KC 3 vs KC 3 @ Twins 3 @ Sox 3 vs Indians 4 @ KC 4 vs Twins 3 vs D-Rays 4 @ Tigers 3 vs Sox 3 @ Indians The schedule is clearly in favor of the Indians. Esspecially with 7 games left w/ KC and 3 with the D-Rays. We control our own desitiny with the 6 final games vs Cleveland. And yes it will come down to the final series of the year. Sorry people who wanted the Sox to 'clinch' at home- it wont happen. We have to start worrying about getting to the playoffs before worrying about the playoffs. I am very scared at this moment. BUT i am not giving up on my favorite team in the world. I hope we win today, and i hope we can somehow take 2 of 3 @ Minny, because you know Cleveland will sweep KC. So it will probably down to 4.5 by the time we play Cleveland at home. Talk about BIGGGGGEESST HOME Series of the year.

shoulda woulda coulda. we just flat out sucked. how the hell do we score 9 runs and bleepin lose? How pathetic. Garcia sucked, our defense sucked, Ozzie's managing skills have fallen out the window and Cleveland is on the verge of taking this division from our grasps. What the hell is it going to take to have these guys wake the hell UP!!!! WAKE UP!!! ITS OFFICIALLY A PENNANT RACE!! WAKE UP- WE ARE IN PANIC MODE!!! If we can't even beat the Royals- what should make us believe that we won't blow this 5 game lead? And we play the Indians 6 more times? Are you kidding me? Were pretty much doomed. And if we don't win tommorow- i am officially throwing in the towel. Seriously. What a freaking joke. I don't know how anyone can remain possitive on a nite like this. Excuse me guys- i have to go throw up now. :puke

First team to clinch their respective division: Cardinals can do it tonite with a win and a Houston loss.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) The lineup I would like to see tonight, against a lefty, would be : Pods, Uribe, Rowand, PK, Dye, Iguchi, Everett, AJP, Crede that looks really good- especially w/ Uribe hitting with a hot stick, Rowand as well. Everett, AJP and Iguchi are relatively slumping and Crede is Crede- so that makes sense. But i dont care how the lineup looks- i just don't want to see any of the call-ups until we actually clinch a spot. The only call-up i don't mind seeing is Anderson. So i wouldn't mind seeing Anderson in RF while Dye DHs and Everett has the day off.
