GreatScott82 replied to kman's topic in 2005 Season in Review
go get 'em BMAC. I trust you, we can win this. gotta have hope. -
time for MARk to quit blaming those aliens and kick some ass. should be a good pitching matchup today, but lets hope the offensive continues to kick ass.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) There was point prior to when Frank came back, that it looked like he would come back. Of course, then, they would start talking that way. That's only logical. Things change when his return is probable, if not for certain. But, this team was built without them counting on Frank. It was repeatedly stated by KW. In an interview with Chicago Tribune Live yesterday KW said he wanted Frank to take the rest of the year to heal. He said he wants him to reach his ultimate goal of 500 hrs. Does this mean Frank will probably come back in 2006? And if he does will he do the samething as he did this year by "not counting on him behing here"? That means does he go after another DH or just re-sign Jurassic Carl? I won't be surprised if KW doesn't make any dramatic moves this offseason- esspecially if we make the playoffs this season. What do you guys think?
-
lets keep it rolling!! We got the Tribe vs the Twins and the Twins NEED a big series to stay alive in the WC chase. So this will be a good oppurtunity to gain some potential ground on the tribe. C'mon Freddy- bounce back from that Seattle disaster.
-
quick question? Do you guys remember those ticketmaster discount date and codes? Im about to buy tickets for sept 8th.
-
You guys need to relax. We did after all aqcuire blum... we are set. Time to end this Trade Winds section of Soxtalk, it was 4 long months of pure speculation. And all we got is a guy named Blum. Wow.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) Oh, I know. I just think a lot of people recently here thought it was completely impossible for this team to do anything worse than .500. All I want is for this team to make the playoffs....and if that means for the Indians and Twins to lose every game they play the rest of the way, then that's fine w/me. dito. just get there damn it!!
-
hey man- when we have been playing the way we've been playing- you think crazy scenarios like this.
-
I have a tally sheet in my room. If we we go .500 the rest of the way (well now 16-15) and the Indians lose 8 games we win the central. Lets see here if we at least do this the rest of the way were in: Split with Detroit at home. (2-2) 2 of 3 vs KC at home. (4-3) 1 of 3 vs LAA at home (5-5) 2 of 3 @ KC (7-6) 1 of 3 @ Minn (8-8) *2 of 3 @ Cleveland (10-9) split with Minn at home (12-11) split @ detroit (14-13) 1 of 3 @ cleveland (15-15) Win final game of year vs Boston (16-15) Thats obviously the minimum goal for the rest of the year. We can easily do much better, but with the way wev'e been playing we can easily do much worse. So 16-15 is my goal.
-
KW needs to pick up somebody. a 5-5 road-trip is okay any other time of year, but not during a playoff race. Yes it is officially a race now, Cleveland doesn't see to lose anymore and we just aren't the same team. If we go 16-15 the rest of the way- Cleveland needs to go 23-7 to win the central and by the looks of things now- its very well possible.
-
I think its awesome that Frank will be traveling with the team the rest of the way. This can be a great sign. He can continue to take batting practice and have ankle therapy sessions w/ Herby. Hell- his presence alone just might be enough to boost our team's confidence. I can see Frank on the playoff roster. This has Kirk Gibson written all over it. Frank = the ultamate pinch hitter, this also gives Ozzie leverage to out-manage the opponents managers. Can someone look up our record since Frank has been out? In other news... will KW pick up another bat?????
-
thank you bmac for getting us back on track. if i were KW and OG i would consider keeping him up for the playoffs. (thats if we get there- the indians never seem to lose anymore!!)
-
down to the final day to add some depth for the final stretch run. and unfortanatley i don't think KW will pick up anybody as far as flying under the radar goes- we thought the samething before the july 31st deadline so don't get any hopes up.
-
Okay- there defense the last 2 days have looked extremely flat. Have you guys noticed that? Granit Freddy and Mark pitched pretty poorly, there is no excuse for there flat play. Ozzie needs to lite another fired under there ass. He absolutely hates big buck showalter. Lets at least win the next 2 of 3 here and head home with a 6-4 road trip. Only a 7 game lead is starting to make me sweat alittle bit. Hopefully it can go to at least 8 games by the time they come back home.

Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox
GreatScott82 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lets drop the whole Griffey talk. He isn't coming here. He said he isn't coming here, and he doesn't want to leave his home town. KW should go after a smaller fish, but one that can be a solid peice to this puzzle. IMO Ibanez would be a great pickup. He is just a solid player, and would fit in nice as our 4th OFer. I know Ozzie has a fetish for Timo, but KW needs to beef up our bench alittle bit more as we go down the final stretch of the season. Any other names out there? -
Last time we were in Texas we got shelled. But that was when Texas was on fire. Since then they have cooled off- and our pitching has been stepping it up lately. Our offense is still shaky, but w/ Rowand and Dye heating up- we can light this kid up for at least 4-5 runs. IMO this game depends on Buerhle's command tonite. I expect to at least split this series, but i'm hoping for 3/4. McCarthy vs Texas scares me. But they are saying he is pitching a lot better these days, so we'll see.

Game Thread vs Seattle Aug 26th @ 9:05
GreatScott82 replied to letsgoarow's topic in 2005 Season in Review
El-duque needs to bring his A game. He is pitching against a young phenom in Felix Hernandez, and with our offense- El-duque can only afford to give up 2-3 runs. Although Seattle is having a bad season- they still have Sexon, Ichiru and Beltre and thats still a dangerous trio. -
Uribe hasn't played 3B all year. If Crede misses some continuous games i predict Blum will take over at 3rd. If Crede has to go on the DL they will also send back down Adkins and bring up McCarthy and Harris.

Pods to return Monday, August 29th vs Texas
GreatScott82 replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 05:59 AM) Where is he going to play? :banghead -
According to Comcast Sports Net- Scott Podsednick will go to Charlotte on Friday for 2 rehab games and if all goes well- he will be in the lineup vs Texas on Monday. Talk about great news!!! He couldn't come back at a more approprate time. Just in time for the final stretch run.... WooHoO!! No more Perez leading off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
this has disaster written all over it. okay 2 outs!
-
damn its never easy is it? we better not see another 16 inning mess!
-
I'm in. Our lead will be back up to 8 games by the end of this minny trip. I still have a feeling we will win these next 2 up there i did predict 2 of 3. Its a 7 game lead, our lead was 9 on July 10th. Thats only a 2 game loss in a good 6 weeks. Thats not bad at all if you look at the big picture. We went on hot streaks when the Twins and Indians were down, and now they are returning the favor to us. We will get hot again- and hopefully it will be right before the season ends. Hopefully i'm not being too optimistic here
