  1. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 06:41 AM) Speak for yourself. I've been defending Contreras all season long, and I would much rather see him in the rotation in 2006 than Garland. Don't worry about that Garland and Contreras are signed through next season. I think everyone knows what our starting rotation will look like in 2006: Buerhle Contreras Garland McCarthy Garcia It should go in that order also.
  2. QUOTE(UC76 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Whi is Konerko talking about his contract NOW? Some reporter probably asked him about it after the game last nite. And to shut everyone up about his contract- he just said pretty much 'anything can happen' in the offseason. The good news is: Pauly said he won't pull a Magglio- if the Sox make a fair offer- his first choice is to stay with the White Sox. But he did say that in April so who knows?
  3. If the Sox don't re-sign Pauly in the offseason- than i expect KW to pull some sort of trade to get someone with some power. I'm hearing a lot of Overbay lately. One other option- is to have Dye play 1B and move Brian Anderson to RF. I know that doesn't solve our lack of power problem- BUT i think Anderson can make a nice impact in his first full season. I also don't expect Crede back next season. KW will probably search for a solid defensive 3B w/ some power via trade. How about Blalock? Texas NEEDS pitching of all flavors (starters, relievers, lefties, righties exe..) How about Marte, Vizciano, El-duque, Baj, and Fields for him? We will also need a DH, i think they will make some sort of incentive offer to Frank- so he'll return, but with limited at bats. In the meantime who out there can fill that DH hole? Hmmm how about Ken Griffey Jr?!? KW seems obsest with him. And his latest injury just lowered his trade value after a solid season. What would the Reds want for him? Probably Anderson, Sweeney, and ALOT of pitching. I say go for it- as long as KW doesn't trade the MAIN-5 (Buerhle, Garland, BMac, Garcia and Contreras) So many questions this offseason- and A LOT of it has to do with what Pauly decides to do this offseason. I for one- would like him to stay- but as you guys said the free-agent market is mighty thin this year- so i'm not expecting him to be around next year at all.
  4. Hey Jedimaster- Our 2nd half slump hasn't been ALL due to the starting pitching. It has been mostly our offensive woes. It also has a lot to do with our lead-off hitter. When Podsednick wen't on the DL we started to slip. And ever since he came back from the DL he hasn't been the same. He has been stuck at 56 stolen bases for about a month now. When we don't run- its hard for our offense to manufacture runs. We aren't as fortanate as you to have a high-powered offense to manufacture runs.
  5. Contreras= my boy. Our Ace. Our 2nd half MVP! Without of doubt. I've said it before- he is our 'losing streak stopper' and hopefully our winning streak beginner! What a pitcher!
  6. If Everett bunts Iguchi over in the 9th with nobody out- Pauly gets the winning hit. Instead Everett strikes in a big situation like he normally does. Lets face it- nobody is coming up with those clutch hits anymore.
  7. You figure the Indians don't lose. And they average like 7 runs/game in the month of september. So even if Cleveland does take the central- we still have a good chance at the playoffs. I am now focusing on that wild-card spot. We are up 3 games over the Red Sox. And the Magic # for clinching that is only 6. If we go 6-4 the rest of the way Boston would have to go 9-1 to tie us. Bostons remaining schedule looks like this: 3 @ Baltamore 4 vs Toronto 3 vs Yankees Its highly unlikely for the Red Sox to win 9 out of 10 games with that schedule. In face they are struggling alittle bit also. So here is some hope for those of you hanging off the cliff. And NOBODY FEAR MY BOY Jose Contreras the 'losing streak' stopper is here!!!!! How about a winning streak? I could go for a good 4-5 game winning streak. Lets start one tonite.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) If someone has a cat in a corner the hairs raise and the hissing starts! I want to see some emotion. Probably wont happen until they are really faced with playoff elimination, not division loss. The hissing should start tonite. I want to see major heart from our offense tonite. I have been impressed with our defense lately. But thats it. I love BMac and Jose C. and Garland pitching wise- but thats it. Beurhle and Garcia are unreliable. As far as tonite goes- I would consider using Borchard as the DH. Everett is just terrible. Borchard resembles a true DH kind of like Hafner. Give him a chance. It can't hurt. I would also like to see Anderson out in LF tonite. Why not? I mean is having Pods and Everett in our lineup helping us or hurting us more? I think hurting us. I want to see this tonite: Uribe SS (he has lead off before and he's swinging a hot stick) Iguchi 2B Rowand CF (he seems to hit well here) Pauly (we need you big guy) AJ (you need to get going also) Dye RF (what happend last nite? Mr. Pop-up with the basesloaded) Crede 3B (1 of our 2 hot sticks) Borchard DH (why not?) Anderson LF (better than Pods IMO)
  9. Just wanted to say f*** YOU to KW for not getting us reinforcements during the deadlines. You once again fail to reach the post season. What a disaster this season has turned out to be. Do you guys think Cleveland will lose 1 game vs KC? I think not. Can we win 3 in a row vs Minny? I think not. 2 if we are lucky. We will either be up .5 after this series, or down .5 after this series. Hell i dont think Cleveland will lose any more this season. And Hell i don't think we will win AT ALL the rest of the season. Up 15 games at August 1st down to 1.5 games at September 22nd. puke:
  10. Just wanted to say that the Indians deserve it right now. They are playing waaayyy better baseball than us. They can hit- pitch and play defense. We can pitch (every once in awhile), play defense (sometimes) and hit (only when we can't pitch) We wont win more than 95, and that won't get us in the playoffs. I'm over the edge now guys.
  11. MIN: LHP Johan Santana • 14-7, 3.05 ERA in 2005 • 4-0, 0.86 ERA vs. CWS in 2005 vs CWS: RHP Brandon McCarthy • 2-1, 4.72 ERA in 2005 • 0-0, 3.00 ERA vs. MIN Yeah we are definitely in trouble for this game. Better hope BMac can keep up with him and better hope our guys can work the counts to get him out of there asap! But the way i see it- if we can make Elarton look like Cy young- the 'REAL' Cy Young is going ot once again dominate us. But i'm praying for the best. But i do believe in miracles and i think we can win. Just need to squeeze out 1 or 2 runs against him somehow.
  12. damn i wish comcast didn't fix the problem. this is pathetic. it looks like our playoff destiny will be that final series in Cleveland after all. Its not like they will lose a game vs KC- so thats 4 in a row there. And you figure we will most likely split with Minny. So the lead will be .5 by the time we play Detroit. We will win 3/4 vs Detroit. And Cleveland will win 2/3 vs Tampa. So our lead will be a full game by the time we play Cleveland for the final series of the year. YIKES!
  13. Comcast sports junk. always does this during important times.
  14. if the standings said 1.5 games up. i think just about everyone would have quit o this team. I was at the game last nite. and i probably lost a year of my life with all the highs and lows of a very must needed win. What a win. What a team! And thank you very much Joe Crede. Stay away from that ledge White Sox nation!
  15. i'll be up in the upper tank section 533. time to start a new winning streak.
  16. I'm going to have to quote my fellow Boston friends and say "Aaron f***ING Boone" This guy always seems to come up with that big hit. Well they may have one the battle. But they will NOT win the war. I'm going to tonites game- and to all of you Buerhle fans- this will truly be the biggest game of his carreer!!!!! Time to end our 5 game home losing streak. Time to end Clevelands 6 game winning streak. Time to end all of this choking talk. Time for the offense to keep it going. Time to get back some respect. Come on guys- give us reason to believe. Win these next 2. You can do it!
  17. Sox= win tommorow. Sox= win wednesday. Sox= win the division. Don't qwit not b****es!
  18. Its okay. I liked the fire our guys showed in the comeback, too bad we walked like eighty guys. Too bad we couldn't get that run in - in the 8th with a man on 2nd and NOBODY out. I'm not blaming Ozzie. Marte got the job done in Minny, so he figured he can rely on him, but a walk and a double just doesnt cut it. The Tribe is just on fire- were trying to survive. I'm sick of all this collapse talk. WE WILL WIN THE NEXT 2. We will be 4.5 games up after this series is over. Time for the real 1-2 punch to stand up. (Mark and Jon) Dont quite guys. They need us these next 2 games more than ever. I'm for one is going to tommorow's game.
  19. Cleveland will be the AL Central champs. better start focusing on that wildcard spot
  20. someone needs to check Hafner for Roids. He is a freaking machine
  21. I have to agree with that MORONotti article. Rieny and KW failed to add a bat to bolster our chances. Now we are about they are about to fail once again. KW's offeason moves= A- KW's mid-season moves= F-.
