  1. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:09 AM) Post Of The Year I will be a Sox fan and believe in this team until there isn't a breath left in me. There magic number is 13 and Cleveland's is 23, let's be realistic. Call me crazy- but todays game is a MUST WIN! With the Indians idle tonite, we need to make a strong statement. 5.5 we can breath, if it goes to 4.5 then you'll have Sox fans driving their cars off bridges. Lets break it down. Yes our magic # is 13 and the Indians' is 23. But lets look at the remaining schedules: We have 18 games left- The Indians have 16 games left- 1 @ KC 3 vs KC 3 @ Twins 3 @ Sox 3 vs Indians 4 @ KC 4 vs Twins 3 vs D-Rays 4 @ Tigers 3 vs Sox 3 @ Indians The schedule is clearly in favor of the Indians. Esspecially with 7 games left w/ KC and 3 with the D-Rays. We control our own desitiny with the 6 final games vs Cleveland. And yes it will come down to the final series of the year. Sorry people who wanted the Sox to 'clinch' at home- it wont happen. We have to start worrying about getting to the playoffs before worrying about the playoffs. I am very scared at this moment. BUT i am not giving up on my favorite team in the world. I hope we win today, and i hope we can somehow take 2 of 3 @ Minny, because you know Cleveland will sweep KC. So it will probably down to 4.5 by the time we play Cleveland at home. Talk about BIGGGGGEESST HOME Series of the year.
  2. shoulda woulda coulda. we just flat out sucked. how the hell do we score 9 runs and bleepin lose? How pathetic. Garcia sucked, our defense sucked, Ozzie's managing skills have fallen out the window and Cleveland is on the verge of taking this division from our grasps. What the hell is it going to take to have these guys wake the hell UP!!!! WAKE UP!!! ITS OFFICIALLY A PENNANT RACE!! WAKE UP- WE ARE IN PANIC MODE!!! If we can't even beat the Royals- what should make us believe that we won't blow this 5 game lead? And we play the Indians 6 more times? Are you kidding me? Were pretty much doomed. And if we don't win tommorow- i am officially throwing in the towel. Seriously. What a freaking joke. I don't know how anyone can remain possitive on a nite like this. Excuse me guys- i have to go throw up now. :puke
  3. First team to clinch their respective division: Cardinals can do it tonite with a win and a Houston loss.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) The lineup I would like to see tonight, against a lefty, would be : Pods, Uribe, Rowand, PK, Dye, Iguchi, Everett, AJP, Crede that looks really good- especially w/ Uribe hitting with a hot stick, Rowand as well. Everett, AJP and Iguchi are relatively slumping and Crede is Crede- so that makes sense. But i dont care how the lineup looks- i just don't want to see any of the call-ups until we actually clinch a spot. The only call-up i don't mind seeing is Anderson. So i wouldn't mind seeing Anderson in RF while Dye DHs and Everett has the day off.
  5. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Carl says: Okay. Whatever. :headshake Keep it going, Freddy. The Indians are facing Zito tonight. Let's get the magic # down to 11. C'mon Freddy- time to bounce back! C'mon bats- you couldn't hit Mr. Howell last time, this time maybe you talked to Mrs. Howell or Gilligan for hitting tips against him. C'mon Oakland! Help us out- you need tonites win more than Cleveland does. Hopefully Zito shuts them down!! I would love to see 11 next to Cleveland under the E# in the standings tonite.
  6. Call me crazy- but here is what i would do: (keep in mind this is assuming we have homefield for the 1st round) Game 1- Contreras (7-2 with a 3.34 era since the break) Game 2- Buerhle ( 5-4 with a 4.15 era since the break) Game 3- Garcia ( 4-5 with a 4.13 era since the break) Game 4- Garland (4-5 with a 3.73 era since the break)
  7. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) I go next Monday, Tuesday and Friday!!!! LETS DO IT!! watch they clinch on wednesday or thursday j/k
  8. We need 10 wins out of 20 remaining games. Cleveland has to lose only 4 more games with 18 games left. If both of those things happen- were in!! I like our chances. Keep tally my fellow Sox fans
  9. Lets get those bats going. Lets get some good pitching this series, lets cheer for Oakland 2 more games, lets cut that magic number down to at least 11 by the time we are in minnesota. My boy Jose Contreras seems to be the new 'losing streak stopper' so i'm pumped to see him pitch!!!
  10. I like Mike North, but i don't think he's a good fit in the booth. Torborg has great respect for the White Sox organization. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the job. I'm still iffy on Farmer being the new play-by-play. He's a great color-man- but man he can be boring sometimes when he takes the play-by-play when Rooney takes a break.
  11. thanx Oakland!! Keep it up! Now lest take 2 of 3 from KC
  12. Kw's first priority this offseason will be to re-sign Konerko. And give Garland and Peirzynski extentions. He will also have to look for another DH- even if Frank does stay. We can't rely on Frank to stay healthy for a full season, so that being said- can Carl Everett have a similar season? What other DH's will be out there? Isn't Carlos Lee a free agent this offseason? We will also need a new 3B. Sorry Crede fans- but i dont see KW re-signing him. So here is my dream offseason for KW: 1. re-sign Pauly to a solid contract. 2. give Jon G and AJ solid extensions (they deserve it) 3. Figure out DH situation. (can Carl still be productive? will Frank come back? Can Carlos Lee make a southside return as our new DH?) 4. The Joe Crede experiment must end. Any suggestions? 5. Either trade El-duque, or plug him into our bullpen and use him as a spot starter, becase BMac is the next big thing. Our rotation in 2006 should be: Buerhle, Garland, Garcia, Contreras, and BMac. My 2005 dreams would be (but being a Sox fan- im just happy for this oppurtunity this late in the season): 4. clinch a playoff spot 3. win the divisional round 2. win the ALCS 1. win the world series
  13. Do you guys think the Tribe will catch us? I'm starting to think they will. Our pitching has been s*** lately. (Except for BMac and Jose) But I know- I know Ozzie- Bmac isn't "Mr. Cy Young" or "Roger Clemens" so why consider him for the rotation?!
  14. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) i feel like i have to be on crack to say this but i would use contreras and mccarthy 1-2 if we were to make the playoffs and there isnt some consistent improvement out of buerhle or garland. neither pitcher seems capable of handling juggernaut offenses like boston or NY...perhaps our chances would be better with relative unknowns (mccarthy) and our "best-stuff" guy (contreras). i canjava script:emoticon('') smiliet believe im saying this. i agree. Jon and Mark need to step it up big time. I remember in 2003 down the stretch in September those 2 guys didn't come through in the big game vs the Twins. Its almost as if they just run out of juice come September. Right now Jose and BMac are the bright spots of our rotation. El-duque needs to be demoted to the pen- amd promote Bmac to the rotation (Its time for Ozzie to get rid of his 'Dusty Baker-esque' buddy system and go with the hot hand), Garcia isn't too bad, but he could be ALOT better, Jon and Mark NEED TO STEP IT UP!!! By the end of the night it will be a 5.5 game lead. This doesn't look good at all.
  15. I have a good feeling about today's game and going into KC as well. The Indians will also have to lose sometime- so i expect to be 7.5 games up if front of the tribe after today. Also- the Indians next opponent is Oakland, while we play KC- so if there is anytime to make up some more ground on the Tribe this is going to be the series to do so. Stay possitive guys! Its time to start a new winning streak today. I also expect our pitchers to WAKE UP! They need to maintian the leads our offense is giving them.
  16. So how about Contreras!! He's awesome!!! A true ace in the making. If I were OG i would consider him as one of the playoff starters.
  17. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) Paulie is gone after 05' anyway, my man. not unless we re-sign him
  18. okay you got me. i wont mention 2006 for the rest of the year addistonstsox. Its 2005 we kick ass. And lets just have KW worry about the teams future.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) If anyone from Texas is available it is Texiera, as they have Adrian Gonzalez waiting in the wings. They have tried to trade their power hitters for pitching in the past, and I could really see a Marte/Contreras for Texiera deal being something that could happen. Doesn't Texiera play 1B? So if we do that- that means bye bye Pauly?
  20. Some interesting comments by all of you guys. But as far as trading Contreras this offseason- i just wouldn't do it. I kind of like Jim H's comments regarding depth. What happens if BMac struggle and does need some more time in Triple-A. What happens if we trade El-duque or Contreras also. Then we go through that 5th starter black hole again. Pitching depth is just too important to deplete. KWs top priorities this offseason should be: 1. Resign AJ, Pauly and Jon G to solid extensions. 2. Figure out the DH role. How is Frank's health? Can Jurassic return and have another productive season in '06? What are the other DH options out there? 3. Go after a solid defensive 3b free agent who can hit for average. Sorry Crede fans. But we need just alittle more pop in our lineup. Blalock would be nice, but he is not worth Contreras, Marte and Sweeney. Any solid 3B free agents in '06? 4. The Timo ERA has to end, make Anderson our 4th outfielder. 5. Keep the rest of the team AS IS!!! We are 86-51 for crying out-loud!! I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!!
  21. Not that I want to think about next year right now (with the year we are having) but our 5 starting pitchers are signed at least through the 2006 season. and IMO Bmac is an upgrade over El-duque. Is it possible that El-duque can move into the bullpen? And he can spot start when we need him during the rest of the year? Because right now Contreras IMO is finally turning into the pitcher we all thought he could be, Garcia is damn good, Buerhle is Mr. Reliable, Garland broke out of his mediocracy and BMac is the next big thing. So why not put El-duque in the pen. He can be pretty damn effective in there for us. 2006 Starting Rotation: Buerhle Garcia Garland Contreras McCarthy Bullpen: Jenks, Cotts, Pollite, Vizciano, Hermanson, El-duque and a lefty replacement for Marte. Thoughts? But next year is next year- lets do some major post season damage this year baby!!!!
  22. where is the: [Thank you Magglio for not signing that innitial contract offer for $12 million a year for 5 years. Because he was greedy, we had pleanty of money to: sign AJ, Dye, El-duque, Iguchi and Hermanson] option?
  23. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) I have a new nickname for Damaso... "The Choke"... it's catchy and represents what he's all about... Seriously Ozzie needs to stop using him in close games... Cotts has proven himself this year to be so much better... last I checked this isn't 2002... Anyway great win... I'll take it... Great job by Kong, Politte, Vizcaino, and everyone else... except Marte... GO SOX! This is Marte's 2nd inconsistent season in a row. If I were KW I would consider looking for another 'reliable' lefty reliever in the offseason. Marte isn't bad- he is just too damn inconsistent. Oooohh if we only had Wagner
