Sox @ Minneapolis--Game 1--8/23/05

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) Crede could do with an entire month off. a sweep would be nice, but 2 out of 3 would still be damn good. it's going to be tough vs Santana tonite. this is going to be an awesome series and like i said- a big test for our guys. Ozzie said "I have a feeling that we are going to have a great road trip." Well i agree with him- i feel that way too. -
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) I feel your pain man, but I'd be a little bit concerned if our guys worried that much about a stupid segment on ESPN. most players on every team watch espn. i know they probably don't care what they say most of the time- but im sure they watch just to see if the critics give them the respect they deserve. And if they watched that pathetic presentation of our great state im sure they were alittle ticked off. Oh well who cares. let the Cubs get all the attention with there record 60-65 and ours at 75-46.

Its Chris Berman that f***ing asshole. He says White Sox fans are the worst in baseball because the fans booed Clemens at the 2003 allstar game. He also said we are drunken morons that always run onto the field and cause chaos. Well Chris Berman, you doosh bag- we are the best fans in the world, we are one of the oldest teams in baseball- we haven't won a world series since 1917, Frank Thomas historic #'s deserve to be mentioned, hell mention the 1919 Blacksox scandal, the disco demolition nite, shoeless joe, bo jacksons big homerun clincher in '93, talk about old comiskey park. talk about us having the AL's best record. What a bunch of ignorant assholes. I hope this motivates our guys even more to make it to the big series. Where the hell is the respect you dooshbags?!? How can you not mention that we have 2 teams in this town. Thats the most ignorant segment i have ever saw. f*** ESPN

this will be the biggest test of the year IMO. How our team does against the twins on the road after being swept at home. Freddy better bring his A game vs Santana. It should be a close one. Lets take 2 of 3 in Minny! -
Tampa Bay has really been putting a hammer down on playoff contending teams. And they can continue by taking 3 of 4 vs Cleveland. They previously swept Cleveland and Oakland and plan on continuing to mess up teams playoff chances. Go get em BIG Lou! If its your last year in Tampa go out w/ a bang. And most importantly give us Sox fans some more breathing room as we approach the final month of the regular season.
-
to me the starting rotation should be the 3 guys with the hottest hand at the time. For example if Freddy dominates his last 4 starts- then go with him. If Contreras continues to pitch like this- then Ozzie just might consider throwing him in there. But then who goes to the bulpen in the first round? Garland, Buerhle? I doubt that. As of right now i see a Garland, Buerhle, Garcia rotation w/ el-duque and contreras coming out of the pen in the divisional round.

GRRRRINDERBALL v. Yankees 8/20/05 Game Thread!

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) How much longer do you guys think this losing streak will last because it seems like never right now. Then to think we got RJ tomorrow. :headshake yikes the big unit. thats a garunteed loss right there. Woah lose 8 in a row. well that eliminates one of the two 8 game winning streaks we had this year. Then off the Minnesota? We might lose 11 in a row. way to add to our team KW, and way to keep this team motivated Ozzie. You guys are pissing me off. -

Sox v. Yanks 8/19/05 Official Game Thread

sorry guys im just in alittle panic mode right now. i'm not giving up. it would be dumb to give up with a 9.5 division lead in late August, i just want alittle hope to hang my hat on to let me know we will bounce back. Right now the offense is what is bringing us down. The pitching has for the most part still kept us in games, but how many runs/game have we averaged during this losing streak? Like 2.2 runs/ game? That just aint going to cut it. If i were Ozzie this would be my lineup tonite- screw the Timo Perez leadoff experement. Rowand CF Iguchi 2B Everett DH (struggling) Konerko 1B (if his back lets him) Pierzynski C (struggling) Dye RF (struggling) Uribe SS (struggling) Crede 3B (always struggles) Anderson LF (can't hurt- let the kid play) -

our offense is pathetic. we might not win the division now. in fact i bet we get swept by the yankees and go into the baggy dome with our tales between our legs. many cub fans are mocking me saying we are the repeat of the '69 Cubs. And sadly im starting to be scared that something like that can happen. When does Pods come back? -
When does Pods come back? We are 0-5 without him in our lineup
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) If that's the case ... screw it. He's not half the defensive CF Rowand is. He was, but not now. This team is about pitching and defense. You are right, but we need some offense to win. And we haven't seen crap for offense lately, or when we do see offense our pitching fails. We need to get back on the same page. Its a shame Griffey will not be joining us this season. We really can use a guy with his offensive calliber in our lineup. Have you guys noticed that we are 0-5 without Pods in the lineup? Tells you how important he is to this team.
-
Will adding KGJ give our team a good shot in the arm or would it hurt our teams' spirits by making them think KW doesn't think they are good enough to win now? By reading PK's comments it seems that the clubhouse is soo tight that adding another bat would some how screw up this team. Well Pauly- i hate to bring this to you- but we are 0-5 in our last 5 games and our hitting is a major reason we are losing soo many damn games lately. Esspecially at home. lost 13 of last 19 home games . :puke IMO KGJ is just what we need to get back to our winnign ways. And if this whole Guardado thing is true we just might make it past the 1st round.
-
Adkins sucks ass. But we did have 6 innings to score freaking 1 run to win this thing. Our offense is slumping- KGJ please? It seems like we haven't won a game in weeks- lets at least salvage a game at HOME. Our record at home after the ASG is 6-9. Thats not good. With Santana pitching today and the Yankees coming to town- we might see our division lead shrink to 8 games by Sunday nite. I'm starting to get alittle worried here guys.
-
the lineup better be: Anderson LF Iguchi 2B Everett DH Konerko 1B Pierzynski C Dye RF Rowand CF Crede 3B Uribe SS Enough of this play around crap Ozzie- time to throw out our best lineup vs our hated rival. Can't let them win a series in our house. Too many teams are beating us in our house lately. Its getting kind of embarrising.

In the Daily Herald he was quoted saying "No deal is close to happening." That he hasn't heard anything from Cincy either. I just don't see this deal happening. Like i said before- why would Cincy trade him now after the teams president rejected a trade to begin with? It could be KW flying under the radar- but as of right now- this whole rumor is just a pipe-dream. It sucks because we can use his bat right now- with Pods out of the lineup- and our bats slumping.
-
Any of you guys here that Bruce Levine and KGJ intereview on sunday? He pretty much thinks he will be traded- and he has no problem with coming and playing here. The only thing holding this back is his contract status. why would the Reds trade him now after the president of the team rejected the deal at the deadline?
-
Is it official? Is he on the DL? I heard Pods doesn't want to go on the DL and feels he just needs a few days off.
-
Should be another close game tonite- as these 2 teams match up very well against eachother. Hopefully Garland pitches better than Buerhle did last nite- if he does and our offense continues what they started yesterday- we are in great shape.
-
Contreras was flat out awesome! Thank you Pauly and Thank you Tadahito as well.
-
Didn't Griffey say he didn't want to play here?
-
QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) Where is Pablo OZuna, I thought he was a fine spark but we haven't seen him in weeks again. exactly the aquisition of Blum has pretty much screwed Ozuna out of any playing time. And as far as Griffey clearing waivers- it just wont happen. He's a Red for life. We just better hope Carl gets healthy- and QUICK!
-
I can see KW buying out the deal for 3 million, and then possibly offering him another deal for about 2-3 million for 2006 so he can finish his carrer w/ the Sox. KW needs to figure out what to do w/ that DH spot next season- and he needs to approach it as if he knows Frank would be hurt (like he did this season) that is why they still have Crazy Carl. Well if Carl goes- we would have a big hole at DH and KW still has an obsession for Griffey. I can see the Sox trading for him this offseason to fill our DH hole. And when Frank comes back in 2006 (if they re-sign him) then they can split time, plus Griffey can play some CF to give Rowand some days off. So you heard it here- Griffey-Sox-2006.

8th August Game Thread - Sox vs. Yankees

when is carl come back? i had to admit having Timo hit in the 5th slot is kind of a joke. and as much as i love A.J. he doesn't belong in the 3rd slot. hopefully ozzie learned from tonites lineups mistakes. but as far as the 1st base umpire goes :finger you were terrible in Oakland and your terrible in New York. Does he have it out for us or something? Did he grow up a Cub fan? Did Ozzie screw his wife? Podsednick was safe at 1B and A-Rod clearly interfered with that play. -

Time to take 2 of 3 in the Bronx! I predict a W today, a L tommorow w/ Contreras and a series win on Wednesday as Freddy is both awesome on the road and in day games.
