Important Quotes from KW and AJP

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 05:43 PM) I am curious to see who will DH next year. I wouldn't mind seeing...(gulp)...pods (runs for cover!) I'm sure they will consider that. Esspecially with Viciedo waiting in the wings if it wouldn't work out. -
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) We should say goodbye to 2/3 of the following: Dye, Thome, Konerko Please its like watching 3 aging turtles try to get out of their shells. I think Dye is gone for sure. Why would you want to trade Konerko? I think Konerko is having a pretty decent year and he could still play a pretty good 1B. It wouldn't make sense to let Konerko go now. Thome i'm 50-50 on.

Regardless of how far back we are in the standings- when Peavy can go, let him go! Like i said before, rest him until that September 4th start vs Boston at the Cell.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) Best not to rush him.... Just rest him until September 4th vs Boston.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 10:45 AM) So if we deal Alexei, who plays SS? Please don't say Nix, who's been an absolute butcher there. Not sure that I'd want to move Beckham from 3B at this point. Uribe? -

Nolan Riemond from Baltamore is a young OF that has a HUGE ceiling. That seems to be what KW is searching for. Baltamore needs a SS as well. Michael Bourn from Houston would be a long shot but KW can put together a hell of a package including Alexie. David DeJesus from KC has always been an intruiging name. I'm not sure if i would give up Alexie for him though. Juan Pierre from LA. Fathom mentioned this before i believe. Trade our bad contract of Linebrink, for their bad contract of Pierre. There is no way i trade Alexie for Pierre. I'm just throwing some names out there. My fav would be Bourn. But KW would have to give up an aweful lot for that guy. -
Tony Pena hasn't really done anything possitive since coming over here. It seems like the dude has cost us 4-5 games in fact. Our bullpen sucks and that alone will stop us from making the postseason.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) He didn't question it as far as what I can see. Dye is a veteran and has the right to express is opinion if he wants, however, all I have ever seen from Jermaine Dye is that he is a team player. Dye might be slumping but so are a lot of others on this team and it seems that some folks are in constant search for scapegoats. Rios is here now and what has be done so far himself? There is no need for individual comparisons to make as you win or lose as a team. I hear ya. Good post. They all need to suck it up, start hitting the hell out of the ball. As Walker would say. "We need to start playing 'loosy goosy' ball -
"If the Tigers win the division stoney, its because we beat ourselves" "Stretch, get back there. . it wont, but the Sox put a nice crooked # on that board" "Alexie. . . . . YES!! YESSS!!! YESSSSSS!!" "With that homerun the White Sox will donate another $100 to Alex Snelius Foundation in loving memory of Ursula."

Since the ASB Dye's average has dropped from .302 to .267. He is batting a measely .197 in the month of August. Until he finds his swing again, he shouldn't even question or worry about who KW aqcuires. -

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) Interesting... Contreras and Dotel are definitely gone. Unless Dye really goes on a tear, my guess is that he's gone as well. I don't see Pods returning either. Thome has a decent shot at being re-signed on the cheap. I think that A.J. is safe for one more year. Besides being another left-handed bat, he brings a ton of intangibles to this team and I don't think that they're ready to go with Flowers full-time yet. I also agree with Kenny's comments. He must be more frustrated than Soxtalk, which is pretty difficult to imagine. I think Pods, Dye, Contreras and Dotel are all gone. Thome will be back for cheap to end his career here. He still has value a pretty decent OBP and he's a left handed power hitter. What will be the Carlos Lee type trade: will it be Alexie Ramirez? Do i dare say Carlos Quentin? I know KW will make some sort of bold move if we miss this playoffs. Something to shake the foundation of this team. What free agents will he sign to fill in the missing pieces? Figgins? Bettancourt? Wagner? Who will be the 5th starter? Go after an aging veteran such as El-duque or let a kid like Hudson take a spot similar to what Danks did in 07. There will be a lot of questions needing to be answered. But our core seems to be getting stronger and stronger. This team is close! 2010 we will be contenders no doubt! -

QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 01:36 PM) I have been saying this for awhile...the similarities are amazing between this year and 2004. Yea i started noticing it when KW aqcuired Peavy. Very similar to the Garcia move of 04. How that team underachieved and was riddled with injuries. Maggs and Thomas were lost for big parts of the year. This year Quentin has missed a lot of games, Getz, Danks and PEavy have all been injured. -

QUOTE (Wise Master Buehrle @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al...eavy-rios_N.htm Everyone knows whats at stake. For guys like Pods, Thome and Dye- this may be their final run with us. The time is now for them to step up. In 2004 when we fell short of the playoffs, KW used his imagination to the extreme! Let Maggs and Valentin walk via free agency. Trade Lee for Pods, Vizciano. Sign Dye, El-duque, AJ, Hermanson and Iguchi. And prior to 2004 ending KW aqcuired Contreras, Everett and Garcia via midseason trades. This year KW aqcuired Peavy, Rios and Pena via midseason trades. Will he let Dye, Thome, Dotel and Contreras walk via free agency? What big name will he trade similar to Lee? What free agents will he sign? Maybe missing the playoffs in 2009 (although would suck) maybe a blessing in disguise. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 07:19 AM) Woke up to see that Detroit is finally starting to hit their stride. Twins as well. Oh well. Its going to be between the Twins and Tigers. The Twins are on fire. Good for them to keep it interesting. Something we are not capable of doing. -

The Defense Infield-after watching Alexie at SS this year i realize how much of a better 2B he is. He makes waaaayy to many mistakes out there. I could care less how good his arm is or how athletic he is. Move Beckham back to SS. That would reduce this teams defensive blunders IMO. My solution for 2010- Sign Figgins for 3b. He plays solid defense there. This would make 1 of Getz or Ramirez tradable this offseason. Perhaps for some bullpen help? Or a young starting pitcher such as Zach Duke? Outfield- Dye has regressed tremendously out in RF, and Quentin seems to be misreading some of his balls (could be his foot issue) Rios will be solid out in CF. Pods shouldn't play the OF period. There has been too many defensive mishaps out in the of this year. Rather its mis the cut off man or misread a flyball. My solution for 2010: CF-Rios, LF-Quentin, RF- Mitchell. Call me crazy but if this guy hits in the AFL and performs over his head out in ST, he could make an immediate impact kind of like Beckham. Jordan Danks could be another opton. Bullpen- Jenks has had a shaky season, but finding a successful closer is hard to find. He seems to be coming back around. Dotel and Linebrink have been disappointing. Its either Jekel or Hyde with these 2, we cant afford that down the stretch. Thorton has been the most consistent. Pena has nasty stuff but never knows when to throw it- everytime out there the guy gets hammered. We traded Allen for this guy? Carrasco has been pretty solid this year- probably one of the better long relievers in the league. The jury is still out on Randy Williams. After the last 2 games vs Boston I became aware of what a really good bullpen looks like. My solution for 2010 Keep Jenks, Thorton, Carrasco and Pena (maybe coop could fix him?) let Dotel walk, attempt to trade Linebrink and his bad contract. Bring up Hudson let him adapt to the big leagues in the pen. Sign Rafeal Bettancourt. The dude is ripping it up for Colorado. Offense- I like this offense more than last season's. However for whatever reason we haven't come up with that clutch hit very often this year. Dye has been underperforming, Rios hasn't truly arrived yet and Quentin still isn't the same. With this offense there is no reason to be .500. My solution for 2010- Let Dye and Pods walk via free agency. Bring over Figgins, re-sign Thome to a cheap 1 year deal and HOPE they can stop leaving as many runners stranded as they did in 2009. BEcause 1-9 our lineup should be pretty scary. Starting pitching I love our starting pitching. They've been alittle inconsistent at times but Peavy, Buerhle, Floyd, Danks. . doesn't get much better than that. Buerhle, Danks and Floyd needs to step it up and Peavy needs to arrive. But they aren't the reason why we are .500. My Solution for 2010- Leave it alone and add a 5th starter. Trade for Zach Duke to add even more depth to an impressive rotation. -
I didn't mention this before because i was too angry. But hell yeah Freddy! Great game big guy! The 5th starter slot is yours the rest of the way!
-
screw that! let the dude pitch. its becoming apparent that this team wont make it. but who cares, lets see what kind of stud KW aqcuired! SOmething to look forward to in 2010.

watching Alexie at SS this season has been bad for the eyes.

No clutch hitting. Below Mediocre bullpen AT BEST. Terrible defense. This formula will translate to many many lost games!!! Buy this formula now for 105 million!!!!!!

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) do you dare bring sweaty one back? i say yes. 1 more. thorton 8th. Jenks 9th. everyone else has been blah!

QUOTE (Wise Master Buehrle @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:06 PM) I guess you missed the line shot to right field that BA never hits. Sorry your chastising him for an out, but Rios smoked that ball to JD Drew. yep Rios has smacked the hell out of the ball. the results will start coming soon enough. oh and he could play a hell of a CF.
