  1. Well hopefully an absentee ballot in Indiana doesn't suck as much as one in Illinois. In 2002 those jerks sent me a punch ballot. Do you know how annoying that was!?! Especially when my roommate was sitting next to me just checking off her votes with a pen. I was very jealous. As for my opinion on the conventions, I have to say that as much of a political junkie as I am, I really had trouble sitting through them. But I have the attention span of a 2 year old, so I can't sit through much at all. I think I've only sat through 3 Bush speeches and given my full attention and that's because I wasn't watching it on TV but I was there. Woo!
  2. When I was an intern on the Hill, all we ever had on was FoxNews or floor action. At first I didn't really have a preference, but after the internship, I became a fan of FoxNews. Especially because I was on the Hill at the time of the gun scare around Halloween last year, and we flipped through the channels trying to get information from the media about everything and we quickly learned that FoxNews was the most helpful.
  3. My Webpage Yeah, it's pretty girlie, seeing as how I am girl. Plus it's mainly just about my adventures in DC, and since I took down all the stuff from my first year in DC, it doesn't look like I've done anything. Except I did leave my West Wing stuff up there. So West Wing fans, you can go see all the pictures I took when I met the cast. My Journal My journal would probably bore you all to tears but I'm posting it anyway, so deal!
  4. My first day of school isn't over yet, but so far so good...course, I've only had one class. And I agree with what others said, college is so much better than high school. I don't miss my craptastic high school one bit.
  5. I'm undecided right now. I have to get a better idea of Keyes and Obama before I can make a decision. There's something about Keyes that bothers me (not sure what) and well Obama's a democrat so I disagree with him...A LOT...
  6. Well, to be fair, even though I am a Bush supporter, Gore helped Bush win those debates with all his sighs and eye rolls which the media focused on and turned into a huge thing that led to people to believe that Bush won the debate. (I know that happened for one debate, I'm a little fuzzy as to what happened during the other debates.)

    Best TV Drama

I love the West Wing! I've been hooked since the 2nd season. Of course, being a political junkie (and poli sci major) as well as someone who loves the White House and the presidency, it's not a big surprise. Anyhoo, I wanted to also say that I agree with Tony. The first season is probably the best, but I love the second season too. So you should check those out, Tex. (If you haven't already.) But now with the new writers, the show's changed, but it's still good.
  8. I'll stand with you. Maybe the baseball gods wil actually be on our side for once.
  9. Happy Birthday! Hope it's a great one!

Glad to hear things are looking up. I'll continue to keep your dad in my thoughts and prayers.
  14. THE NASTY STREAK IS OVER!! TIME TO START A BETTER STREAK!! GO SOX! Major props to Freddy, Ben, and ARow!
  15. I'm in it till the end. Miracles happen. I will always be a fan of this team and I will always have hope. No matter how bad it looks.
  16. I'm interested to hear who people here have met. cwsox - You've met quite a few political people...I'm a political junkie so I find that very cool. I have met some famous people. In 2003 I met Martin Sheen, Alison Janney, Richard Schiff, John Spencer, Dule Hill, Janel Maloney, Joshua Malina, Bradley Whitford, and Aaron Sorkin. All of them except for Aaron are actors on the West Wing. Aaron was the writer. They were filming in DC so my friends and I went down to the location. All really, really nice people. Since I interned on the Hill for a semester I met some representatives. I met Congressmen Don Manzullo (IL - 16), Jerry Weller (IL - 11) (also who I worked for), Dennis Hastert walked past me. Bill Frist also walked past me. I saw Joe and Lisa Crede in Denny's when I was in Kansas City last September. I did FujiFilm Day last year so I met a lot of players then. I've also met players from going to autograph sessions, but that's about it. I've also met Buerhle's mom and grandmother.

    Women Arrested

They don't suck entirely...they're just very very clean which is a plus
  18. I think you're talking about the "Baseball As America" exhibit which was at the Field Museum in Chicago last year. It is a cool exhibit.

    Women Arrested

Since I ride the Metro so much in DC and spend 8 months a year there...this actually isn't that weird to me...I've gotten used to it...But I do admit the police in the city are crazy...so are pretty much any other security guard in the city...I could give countless stories of how power heavy they are there...surprisingly enough, the nicest police I have met have been Secret Service and one park police officer. But yeah, going back to the Metro...police go undercover on the Metro to catch people who eat and drink on the train...like they don't have anything better to do??
