  1. what exactly would be the advantage of khalil greene, better off in throwing him in with the angels deal and getting another prospect or 2
  2. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 10:24 AM) Ron Rivera called Rex Grossman a mental midget. At least he didn't add, "A physical one, too." that doesnt make sense at all, rex grossman had to learn like 3-4 different offenses in as many seasons, and supposedly one of his strong suits is just that being able to learn an offense.
  3. I dont want to lose but at this point i understand its actually more beneficial for the team. Right now we are in position for the 2nd overall pick in the draft I think and with an outside shot of maybe even getting the 1st.... and if its choosing to win 5 more games but going up to the 5th-6th pick or keep on our losing ways and be 1st or 2nd.... id choose the latter.
  4. I dont think anyone deserves to be fired unless we get a repeat of this season next year, but, if we are gonna fire anyone than my choice is Walker.
  5. good to see Shelby and Gomes finishing strong and Carter while not on fire still doing his thing.... cant wait to see those 3 and DLS all in W-S next year and some of them hopefully in Birminham at some point
  6. maybe we will get that stud 3B from Vandy now
  7. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) How does he figure baseball isn't a "team" sport? How does he figure basketball is more of one? If I am not mistaken, Michael Jordan more or less carried his teams to the championship. He was aided by the other guys, but he probably could have won with my Grandma on that team. But we all know how much ONE great player will ensure a championship in baseball. He started out though like he was copying something Andy Rooney once wrote. But then he just turned to sucking. Scottie Pippen? Also there was a pretty good group of role players 2, remember we did go to the playoffs and were pretty good the 2 seasons Jordon was playing baseball.
  8. Im assuming Shelby, Carter, and Gomes all be in high A next year. I still have hope on Gomes because id have to say there is a reason rogers loved him and he was in the futures game. Than I was a fan of both Shelby/Carter since the moment we drafted them so happy to see them succeed.
  9. i think adding Torri Hunter with a few other changes can make us a strong contender next year. I think we should say goodbye to Crede, Uribe, and Pods... give Josh the 3B job and hopefully find someone to leadoff from the LF or the SS position in f/a.
  10. we would definitely have to find a way to dump contreras, crede, and uribe's contracts for it to happen probably. But yes that would be awesome to have him patrol CF for us for the next 4-5 years or so.
  11. Not that I think Britney is fit lol but it seems to me K-Fed is even worse.... not 2 mention he was the one that was constantly cheating was he not? I dont really keep up with it all so i could be 100% off.
  12. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 03:30 AM) Lester Munson.... legal reporter for Sports Illustrated came to my class last year to talk to us, he covered the case daily, is a lawyer, and was pretty sure that Kobe was guilty.... and when he outlined his reasoning as to why he came to that conclusion... it was pretty convincing. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that Kobe was innocent. i could come up with a convincing argument we never really went to the moon and than an equally convincing argument that we really did go to the moon..... so whichever version I choose to tell you is that the one your going to believe?
  13. I always liked him as a Bear, the trio of Holdman, Urlacher, and Colvin is arguably better than the trio we have now..
  14. Even though its been limited playing time I really liked what i saw from McGowan when he was out there and im assuming the bears are still very high on Daniel Manning so while I liked Chris Harris not a bad deal at all.
  15. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) when all those players are off the books, they might have money to go after players like Oden. Too early to speculate, but you aren't screwed when a player retires or leaves. You are screwed if you have too many bad contracts. Unless he is a bust no way Portland let Oden leave anyways, and they can offer him the highest contract when it gets to that point too.
  16. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) Football is usually a bit more predictable though where the better team, if healthy produce. Grossman and Benson are the only question marks on this team. Should injuries ravage the O-Line, all bets are off. football if anything is the least predictable, where you coming from with that lol
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) randy johnson. He is 16 away and has 2 more years left on his contract. If he can return some what healthy from back surgery, and average 8 wins a year for the next two years, he will get it. I remember after Maddox got his 300th win, there was talk about perhaps no other pitcher ever reaching 300. RJ aint coming back for another year from everything I have heard, infact he might be done already.
  18. These 2 new buildings especially the Spire kind of remind me of the skyline in Shanghai, which in my opinion looked much more impressive than what we have in Chicago.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 08:09 PM) If either one of Podsednik or Erstad is back with this organization in any capacity next season.......... Not that this is the right thread to discuss it but I wouldnt mind having Pods back as a possible 4th OF or if we have a sure fire backup plan in place for when he gets injured.
  20. If i was the jury I would have a hard time convicting this guy for the deaths from the helicopters, especially since it wasnt police helicopter that was involved in a high speed chase when it happened but 2 news helicopters.
  21. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 01:03 PM) the average career for an NFL player is a little over 3 years..... career threatening injury isn't all that likely? what game do you watch? he is gauranteed 7.2 million for 1 season..... 1 season...... 1 season. if Rosenhaus got the longterm extension he was trying to fanagle would have received considerably more upfront, without playing a down, no risk of injury. (He wanted BRIAN Urlacher Money). If Briggs sits out he is going to get a smaller contract than if he plays? Perhaps.... but how much smaller? i wouldn't think it would be considerably smaller. Briggs is in his prime, coming off pro bowl years, and plays a valued position.... even if Briggs held out and signed elsewhere next year... he would have signed a ridiculous contract with a team like Washington for arguements sake, and he wouldn't risk injury. So Rosenhaus paraded Briggs around talking about how the Bears are s***ty and how he is going to hold out.... for what? he took the 7.2 million and now has to play a season not to get hurt. If Briggs has season ending surgery for a torn achilles, acl or anything else that would prohibit his mobility..... we'll see what the market for him is then. What you made makes absolutely no sesne. Rosenhaus is a deuchebag who thinks he is smarter than he really is. He got TO money NOT BECAUSE HE IS A GREAT AGENT.... BUT BECAUSE TO is an ungodly talent. Jerry Jones didnt talk to Rosenhaus and give TO a contract because he bought into Rosenhaus, he signed TO because like every team before the COwboys they thought they could tame him. Glad to have him back. The avg length is 3 years because there are a lot of scrub players in the league lol. And the contract would be significantly smaller if he did sit out an entire season, case in point how many players do you see sit out an entire season. Right now he is guaranteed 7.2 million which is enough to live a life time off of, and also I never said the chance of injury wasnt big.... almost everyone gets hurt.... but the chance of a career threatening injury is very small.....at his age anyways.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 02:50 AM) I know there's a lot of people on here who enjoy Christian Bale's work, as I am definitely one of them. There's one movie that always seems to get over looked for some reason, Equilibrium. It's just a damn good action movie with some outstanding acting spliced in. I always found it to be more enjoyable than the Matrix due to there being some real acting going on in Equilibrium. I liked the movie, but I thought at the end when he just simply f***ed everyone up was pretty over the top, liked the rest of it though.
  23. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) Briggs feels extremely slighted about this, and feels he needs a long term deal which the Bears wouldnt give him this offseason. He has talked down about the front office, said he wouldnt play another down with the team, paraded himself around the offseason meetings like a grade A douche, and generally left a sour taste in everyones mouth. I dont think the Bears are likely to want to lock him up after this season(because like Kalapse said, the deadline passed so there can be no negotiations until after the season), and I dont think Briggs is likely to want to re-sign with the Bears, its just that simple. The Bears will move on, just like they always do. Despite all that they re-opened talks for a long term contract b4 the deadline, obviously they didnt get it done but they still re-opened talks. And he has taken the tag this early so he wont be out of game shape or anything and we will have him the whole season. Im sure they will atleast talk about an extension i just dont know the likelyhood that it gets done.... especially with the need to sign Tommie Harris longterm soon.
  24. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) Briggs is taking a big chance that he can make it through this season, not get injured while still playing well enough to keep his value intact. even if Briggs does play subpar, someone will give him a big contract...... but why chance a career ending injury? dont get me wrong Im stoked he is back with the team.... but for Briggs this is a big gamble. This also has to be viewed as a loss for Rosenhaus. Rosenhaus loves to play chicken with General Managers around the league but he seemingly always flinches first. Drew Rosenhaus = ????????? why is this guy a good agent? Because he got Willis McGahee drafted in the first round? color me unimpressed. None of what you said makes sense, if Briggs sits out he is going to get a smaller contract than if he plays. The only thing that could change this is if he has a career threatening injury which isnt all that likely. Than also he is now guaranteed 7.2 million no ifs ands or buts about it..... Also Rosenhaus is good because he gets his agents big contracts, he hasnt been successful in hold outs as of late but that has as much to do with the player as the agent. He still got a cancer like TO paid great money.
  25. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) I don't know an exact date but it should be this fall. Oh and MGS is most likely coming out for the 360. I wouldnt say most likely, its definitely a possibility but you know Sony is going to do everything in its power to keep it an exclusive.
