Bears To Target Randle El
GoodAsGould replied to nitetrain8601's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Personally I think Randle El is a bit overated on these boards also and dont really think he will offer anymore than we could get out of Berrian/Bradley.... especially Berrian who impressed me when united with Grossman..... and Bradley has the potential to be a great WR in the NFL. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) Bad parents. I wonder what thats a reference too

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 01:36 AM) McCarthy = 17th round pick. This other dude named Mark Buehrle...38th goddamned round. How about that guy named Mike Piazza.

Its funny because we got both extremes in this little argument..... one side totally undervalueing Contreras and probably overvalueing a prospect although he is a good one... and the other side totally overvalueing Contreras and prob is a bit of a whitesox homer..... because you know we all like to "slurp" our division foes.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 01:06 AM) Good Lord.. I'm still shaking my head over this one. This thread should be locked, and thrown far, far away. That people like this exist.. people that think that it's better to teach lying and cheating, is beyond disgusting. A child needs help.. and this thing ignores it. A child folks... an innocent child who has pulled the ultimate short straw in the daddy lottery. So sad.. so very sad. :headshake Steff this "child" is an highschool id say thats past the innocent stage.....and this "child" was the one making the hissy fit about not having a social life because of omg HOMEWORK! While it amazes me that a parent would do their kids HW and sickens me at the same time.... saying an "innocent child" is a bit much. A lot of posters here are in highschool or just their 1st/2nd year of college and I wouldnt call them innocent children. Stupid WHARRIS being on the sports know it all poll instead of me!

Top Prospects at the TE position
GoodAsGould replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) No. Its not f***ing well thought out at all, in fact its so f***ing retarded I'm not even going to talk about it anymore. Guess what? Vernon Davis is a f***ing TE, not a WR. Would you take Vince Young and move him to RB because he comes off to you as a better runner than thower? No. You wouldnt. Now please, shut the flying f*** up. you really need to calm down.... I dont think Vernon Davis should be a WR at all either but the way your responding is really childish and is just going to result in this thread being locked or you being banned.... -
Idonno in my opinion the only guy that wears the C and actually deserves it is Sweeney.... 1. Because he is a leader and a great guy in general 2. Because he is playing with a bunch of kids and bad talent in general that they need someone like him to go to for help and other stuff.

Desmond Clark named to Pro Bowl
GoodAsGould replied to WHarris1's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I wasnt a fan of both but Schoop > Shea....... I havent decided on Turner yet going to give him another season b4 i make judgement.... -
QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) I know, I'm just wondering how someone can say he had a great year if he only pitched in 71 innings. As you pointed out, its not like they were 71 innings of relief either. How can you judge how good a year a player had on half a year of baseball? Ok I didnt say great... there is a difference between good and great so get that right first....... and the point is when he pitched he was effective and above avg. which makes it good. Dont remember exactly why he didnt pitch more if injury or some other matter but he was good when he pitched in 03.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Contreras only started 9 games in 2003. He pitched out of the bullpen in 9 other games. and? Did he not have a good season?
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Do people forget that Contreras was mediocre to bad before his second half of last season? Do people also forget that he is only under contract for one season? C'mon... Contreras doesn't have the track record of Buehrle or Garcia. Contreras could be a stud next season but he could very well be mediocre to bad and he will only be under contract for one year either way. He has had 2 good years and 1 bad year.... so dont know where your coming from..... why is it people forget 2003 so easily?

You can be very intelligent and stupid at the same time....

Wow I dont know if Juggs is joking or serious..... I never thought Id see the day a parent would argue and bring up so many bs points as why he/she should do their childs HW. Ive always had a problem doing HW and most days id either bs it right b4 class or not do it at all but just ace the quizzes/tests.... in college that didnt work so well and lets just say my 1st semester wasnt a success although missing classes had something to do with it also.

QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) I'd do it in a heart beat, but then again, I tend to think Contreras is extremely overrated on these boards, and getting one of the best prospects in baseball for him would be a steal. Well one thing you have to keep in mind is Contreras actually pitched well in the first half too just didnt get the run support and wasnt as dominant as he was in the 2nd half.... so the fact he did it over a whole season and than in the playoffs gives people more confidence in him than just looking at his 2nd half of the season which you are doing. But If we can trade him for a top prospect like Milledge and get a bp guy like Sanchez id want KW to do that trade in a heart beat especially since we will still have 5 good quality starters.

Bears To Target Randle El

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) If I'm the Bears, yes. It seems like Mushin Muhammed is like a Peerless Price type player in which they would excel at being a #2 WR. Yeah I have no clue where that is coming from.... when Muhsin was the 2nd option he hardly showed up at all in what was it 2003. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) So then we have Cliff-Hermanson(?? about his back)-Baj-Munoz?-Jenks in the pen????? :puke :puke Id do the deal if we got Sanchez who would prob make our bullpen is better since he is better suited for the bp than B-Mac. Sanchez and Milledge or whatevr and id definitely do that deal..... you cant worry about injury all our pitchers have been horses and none of had injury problems so that shouldnt be a problem. Plus Garcia's and Vazquez's teams prob wont make it past the first round when the pitch count is only like 60 or something like that.

Bears To Target Randle El
GoodAsGould replied to nitetrain8601's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
He is a very important part of the Steelers offense since they run a lot of trick plays or whatevr u want to call them..... Id think they would do everything they can to bring him back.. anyone know their cap situation? -
QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) Timo Perez is just as good as Barry Bonds come playoff time! Apparently you havent seen any Mets games

NBA's Most Improved Player
GoodAsGould replied to hammerhead johnson's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Well I havent been able to see any games recently with work or something taking up my time so ill take your word on it that he looks improved... thats good Deng and Chandler are my favorite players so while I was happy with Deng i was kind of depressed with Chandler. -
NBA's Most Improved Player
GoodAsGould replied to hammerhead johnson's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The good thing is there is no doubt that Chandler needs to be in the PF slot to be really effective.... so now lets just hope Othella can handle the load at C. -
QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:50 AM) how do you pronounce that name.. i never bothered to find out after i saw that 500 foot bomb hit off him during clean up work... i hear hes the s*** though from you guys..is he ranked by baseball america? No he is too old for BA to really care about him.... idonno if he is going to make it w/ the whitesox this is probably his best chance because even though id say a lefty would have an advantage if he performs well in spring training he might get a spot.

QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:42 AM) the widgenator and joe borchard...guys got leadership qualities written all over him If Borchard actually panned out he prob would be a good candidate because from everything I heard he is a great guy and spends a lot of times with the fans.... Ill always chant LTP when he comes up to bat
