QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 04:23 AM) and how does that change the fact that I liked Crawford? Also to blame a winning % on just 1 player when its thats big doesnt really make sense.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 04:10 AM) Jamal Crawford is one of the biggest meatheads on Earth. I kind of liked him when he was a bull. I mean i accepted the fact he was gone after the trade and I didnt b**** about it all season like some people but I still liked him as a bull. He always had a connection with EC on the court they worked very well together I thought. Now unlike Crawford im really really going to miss Curry. I know it had to happen I guess but man im kind of pissed that we lost him.
-
Even if Tim Thomas is a "cancer" he isnt really needed on this team with Deng and Nocioni so if he causes any problems than he is gone pretty much. Im going to miss Curry a lot though. He was just starting to really heat up too when the heart problems started .... well for his sake i hope his heart is ok.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Well, Haigwood doesn't have the "tools" that really catch the eye... he just knows how to get guys out. It's always very difficult to project how that translates as a guy moves up. For example, here's BA's list of the top 10 5 years ago... Interesting to see who has been the most productive out of that list, isn't it? Pierre and Buehrle without the eye-popping tools perhaps being the most productive major leaguers on the list... Sheets is no slouch, but the rest have underwhelmed... Well 2 be fair Sheets is still probably the best player on that list just injuries have gotten to him. But yeah funny how so far the 9 and 10 guys have had the best careers.

Yanks angry at Showalter for pulling stars vs. Ang
GoodAsGould replied to redandwhite's topic in The Diamond Club
Ive never been much of a fan of Buck Showalter... and my friend who is a diehard rangers fan hates him as much as we hate Marrioti -
If the Tribe made it to the playoffs and Hafner didnt cool down at the end Id say he should of got serious consideration. But the fact that he slowed down and Tribe missed the playoffs he shouldnt. People have to remember MVP isnt the best player its the one whose most valuable to his team. Also there is no east coast bias when it comes to MVP I think it almost always comes out of the West recently... actually isnt the last person who won it that wasnt in the AL West Frank Thomas? Finally since Ortiz and A-Rod are both in stacked lineups its hard to tell which is actually more valuable. Therefore you do have to look at numbers and overall A-Rods are better also he plays defense and in my opinion should win the MVP.

Yeah im glad Pablo and Willie are both there because it gives us 2 guys that can steal bases in late game situations.

Weis uses play called by 10-year-old boy dying

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) I don't care that Charlie Weis ran a play that some dead kid called. Shut up about it already. ESPN keeps going on and on as if this was news. f***, the Bears have had corpes calling the plays since 2001. Lol while it was a good thing for him to do you are right about ESPN killing it by talking about it 2 much. They do that about everything... who wasnt sick of hearing about TO and D-mac. -
The key is for Podsenick to get on base and than once there be able to steal effectively. He hasnt run as much the 2nd half partly because of being hurt but hopefully part of it was to keep him fresh for the playoffs. We need him to steal and mess with the pitchers heads.

QUOTE(wsox08 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 04:21 AM) Hey C.C. Put your hat on straight.. You look horrible with it on "sideways" Does he really look any better with it on straight

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) You've never seen a McDonalds? Or Wendy's? Or Burger King? Or Panera Bread, Atlanta Bread? You consider McDonalds, Wendys, and Burger King restaurants? They are fast food place and if someone had a problem with smoking there they could just use a drive thru.....

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 04:04 AM) I know. I just found it funny that he was a such a cocky mofo and now has to sit at home with the rest of them. Well to be fair he never did pitch against us both series and he has been on fire as much if not more than Contreras has been.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) This is redandwhite the baseball fan, not the red sox fan. you can say whatever you want about the red sox, it really doesn't bother me, but when it's wrong i'll discuss. afterall, thats what these boards are for. Well thats the thing it obviously does bother you because everyone negative said about them you take so personally.
-
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) Again: the best hitter right now is what I said, and in september he has a batting average of .320 an OBP of .425 a SLG of .670 with 11 home runs and 29 rbi. .... Jesus man everytime someone says anything negative about the redsox you always take it personel or something. We know your a fan but if someone is making a negative comment about them you dont have to make the whole thread an argument about it. Just in 1 post state your opinion and be done with it.

Anyone else cheering for the Cubs?
GoodAsGould replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in The Diamond Club
Yeah even though im not a big fan of Philly I wanted them to have a chance for a 1 game playoffs vs the Astros... oh well Cubs did win what 2 out of 4 they couldnt really of asked for more than that. -
Yeah he really wouldnt be ready till the 3rd game.... all I have to say El Duque has earned a spot and with his perfomance today Vizcaino might of earned a spot... so it could be inbetween marte and b-mac.
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) Losing 42 homers in a year is a lot, no? Yeah experts made it seem like we would be in the lower 3rd of the league in HR's... instead we are like what 3rd in the AL behind yanks and rangers.
-
Juggs you use stats way 2 much in all your posts... ever heard the term keep it simple stupid.
-
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) You are probably thinking of Maggs when he was stuck on 99 2 years ago. Look at the post right above yours
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) Ya, we're the Sammy Sosa of HR hitting teams. All solo shots. :headshake apparently you didnt watch yesterdays game
-
exactly no one really likes vizcaino much but as the season went on he got better and with El Duque as the season went on he got worse. I posted Viz's era each month and it shows he has been a pretty decent reliever after the first 2 months of the season. El Duque has been crap since his fast start and even during the stretch he was shaky at best.

10-1 Game Thread - Charlotte @ Cleveland
GoodAsGould replied to Heads22's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Its amazing how easy it is to watch this. Usually id be really pissed right now but since we clinched and everything this meltdown by marte is somewhat funny to me. -
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) I say Bmac and O.Hernandez both make roster tell J.Visciano you suck and have done nothing to earn a postseason spot. Cant you change your roster after every series? If you can id sit out B-Mac for the first since he wont be available the first 3 games anyways really.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) It isn't likely, but Duque over Viz seemed like a very obvious choice for me. If its very obvious you havent watched Vizcaino the whole season after his 1st 2 months and I guess the same thing goes for El Duque too.
