If you wanted Orlando Cabrera which would of moved Juan Uribe to 2B how could you be a driving force to sign Tad Iguchi.

nice to get back to the central time zone in texas.... why are they even in the West..... -
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ May 26, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) actually yes, KW "team" failed time and time and time again... Ozzie comes in goes wtf I want a team based on pitching sped and Def, not the 3 run HR, JR tells KW to make it so.. IF JR never hired on Ozzie, we still see the 3 run HR as our only way of offense. Ok KW hired Ozzie, and Ozzie told KW what he wanted and KW did that, and he did it perfectly too hence our 33-14 start..

QUOTE(JimH @ May 26, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) So Darrin Jackson, in addition to doing PBP for an extended period for the first time, gets a rotating partner every week. Gotta be a little tough, it's not easy to have a new broadcast partner constantly. thats why he has gained so much respect from me as an announcer, it obviously has paid off too, you can really tell when he is working with Hawk that he has become better.... still nothing beats the DJ, Hawk, and Ventura combo. -
KW keeps becoming a better gm every year it seems.... I think in another couple of years he could be one of the best at what he does, I think this off-season will be a real big one for him though. will B-Mac get a spot, does frank and pauly get resigned, does anderson get a spot if so what to do with Dye, who does he get for the bullpen, does garland get resigned? This off-season is going to be a big one, I think even bigger than this last off-season especially considering how much money could come off the books. Frank Thomas, Pauly, Contreras, Dye, Everett, Timo, ben davis ... thats like 34 million if none of those are resigned... in Dye and Contreras case being traded.

Hawk has to stay on TV he is 2 great to ever be replaced... but I have to say its getting annoying if you go to the team we are facing message boards there is almost always 1 thread about how they hate our announcers lol. Thing that gets pointed out the most is how he calls us good guys and the other team bad guys. -
Im not sure about Mike Lowell isnt he know to be a 1st half hitter and s***ty the 2nd half... and this year he has even been crappy the 1st half... Ill stick with Crede on this one.
-
didnt canseco sign a contract like that with the D-Rays too lol, 2 bad he aint going to the HoF lol, wasnt he selling his WS ring too... would be cool to have one of those.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 26, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) I'm going to gag when Kenny is in the booth. I still find it funny that he was admonished in the pressbox for cheering. Big no-no what? -
I like KW because he isnt scared to make moves and trade prospects like a lot of gm's are... if he wants to make a move he will do it.
-
well what Ozzie says is what must be done... he usually gets what he wants.
-
Lol Ichiro would be worth it if for nothing else the fans he would bring to the ballpark... I bet everyone in japan would watch a team who had Ichiro and Iguchi leading off too. Not to mention if Shingo was still closing the door.

QUOTE(Princess Dye @ May 26, 2005 -> 05:04 AM) and his proof: "have you seen the guy's calves?" he later appologized for making the accusation after Prior called him out on it... I think he was just trying to make a starter. Hopefully he announces the texas game when B-Mac pitches since there have been so many comparisons. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Awesome, I'm rooting for him big time. It'd be a hell of a story if he could somehow find his way to the majors. What exactly is the story on that guy? How long till this kid gets back to AAA? It seems like he has flat out dominated in AA and its not like our AAA team is stacked with pitching prospects...

Best yet to come for White Sox ace Garland

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) The playoffs of 2004 is too long ago? Look past the "sore arm" BS. El Duque is on the DL because the Sox wanted to give Brandon McCarthy a taste of the majors right now. If these games meant anything, I get the sneaking suspicion that Hernandez would be pitching right now. Did you watch the playoffs of 2004? El Duque didnt do much in them and he made 1 start which he didnt do that great in... -

Yeah it was really funny when DJ out of no where was like That just sucks... overall it wasnt great but I dont mind it, i guess im just not as picky as all of you. I tell you what though Im looking forward to Jack Mcdowell tommorow... Ive actually seen him pitch so should be fun to watch him announce, also should be cool to have KW in the booth a couple innings. -
nice job white sox!.... I have to say I was worried when I only saw Marte and Shingo warming up... and than Marte went in i thought Hermy was hurt for awhile.....

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Go back and look at his playoff record. He singlehandedly carried the Yankees to the playoffs, and kept winning there as the rest of the team fell apart. I don't know about you, but personally I would rather have pitchers that win when it matters. Yes he did do that, but look at what he has done recently... Injury riddled and than tired arm bs after he started great with the yanks... than he gets a tired shoulder with us after like 7 starts.... El Duque isnt the same pitcher he was back than. -
QUOTE(quickman @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) then after you claim the ring don't watch anymore until they are better. There that is really simple. i can hang my hat on a world series for years. Did the same with tthe Bears. Still watch them though even though they suck, now I am in fantasy football so I watch players. I have to watch baseball is my favorite time of the year... I can watch the bears because its only 16 games a year and football is a fans sport.
-
QUOTE(quickman @ May 25, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) what? isn;t the whole idea to win the world series? It takes 100 years sometimes to win one and you would rather have years of buls*** second place finishes? i don't get people soemthimes. i really don't Well Id like to win one but if it meant years of last place finishes like the royals... than Id have to think about it, because i wouldnt be able to stand to watch a royal like team.... it would probably take off 5 years of my life.
-
I keep repeating myself it seems, So Ill say it again... When Buehrle and Garland were brought up both started in the bullpen, now they are our best 2 starters in so far the best rotation in the AL.... So you think B-Mac cant do the same? He might pitch less but you can learn so much more just being on a major league sometimes than pitching in AAA.
-
Im a little confused how one player can guarantee us a WS rings... maybe a healthy bonds, so we can trade B-Mac for Bonds if he recovers fully lol... but that still doesnt guarantee it, dumb thread

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) Talk to me in October, then tell me if Hernandez isn't an ace. He wins when it counts. you mean when he has a tired arm and is on the DL winning us games? -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 25, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Who ended up going back to the minors because they wanted him to develop. Why do you think he only had 15 games in 2001? It was even on ESPN last week. He tried to blow everyone away(and he was a stud prospect, prolly moreso than McCarthy). He pitched out of the bullpen, and then started. They didn't think he developed right and told him to not only refine his controls, but to develop a change and that's where he fell in love with it. So he's a bad example for your defense. Santana was a stud prospect? Last time i checked he was hardly a prospect at all which is what made it possible for the twins to get him.
