  1. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 06:22 AM) I always thought it was stupid. You just can't pick and choose outings and say they did not happen. How about we take away three or four of buehrle's worst outings from last year? Sounds fair to me. How about we take out those two s***ty months uribe had? It is just makes no sense to me. Well at that time it was different in Viz's case... He had just thrown like 30 pitches the previous day and because Ozzie mismanaged the bullpen and Shingo gave up those 3 HR's we were down to only Viz in extra innings. He went on throwing another maybe 50+ pitches.... Thats why he wasnt really blamed for that outing. But since than he has sucked too... so no excuses.
  2. QUOTE(BuehrleTheAce @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) Crede, Viz, and Shingo for Chavez? I'd do it in a heartbeat. If Oakland wanted a prospect too, then I want Huston Street thrown in. First off id like to say your crazy... Crede Viz and shingo for Chavez is just so dumb its not even funny. 2nd off I much rather us trade for a guy like Randa who wouldnt even require a good prospect I bet they would trade Randa for like Baj and Crede.... that way Baj gets a chance in the majors and we lose Crede.... Randa is also the perfect stop-gap for Fields... Randa can stay another 2-3 years until Fields is ready. Id love Chavez dont get me wrong, but B-Mac is too important to this team, not because he is our top prospect but because he is our 6th starter..... BTW I think Texas is going to hit him pretty hard hopefully everyone wont jump off his bandwagon than.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Rogo walks and steals, and doesnt k very much. PLus if there was a brawl he would flat out DOMINATE the other team. and thats what matters most lol the guy im trying to keep a close eye on is Chris Young... if he can shorten his swing and still have all that power we could have ourselves a future star.... also Jerry Owens I think is going to be a really good ball player.
  4. So far this year Garland is the ace of our staff but as a whole its obviously Buehrle.... But right now im really high on Garland... as far as im concerned he didnt give up a run last night. Crede gave up 2 runs... and than he totally made the pitch to get himself out of the jam and again our defense wasnt there to make the play.. Timo shouldnt of been playing that deep i bet Rowand would of made the play.
  5. I think this team needs B-Mac more than it needs Chavez.... Contreras and El Duque can go down at anytime and really although its more unlikely so can Buehrle, Garland, and Garcia... B-Mac is our insurance that incase that does happen we have him there... I would trade Sweeney or Anderson and crede and Tracey for Chavez though really only guys i think we have that are untradable... B-Mac, One of Anderson/Sweeney, and Gio Gonzalez.... everyone else can be had if the price is right.
  6. A guy that really intrigues me is Jordan Danks.... I think he is going to be good... but that being said he definitely isnt worth our 15th overall pick.
  7. I think that picture makes it pretty clear that it was a HR but regardless if you just saw it without the 200% zoom it would be impossible to tell and watching the game it didnt look like it was a HR so cant blame the umps.
  8. Idonno there could be a lot of closers on the market by the trading deadline... names that come to mind are: Brad Lidge Octavio Dotel Jose Mesa Billy Wagner Eric Gagne/Brazoban(dodgers might trade one of them to fill another hole) Eddie Guardado Jorge Julio(could be traded to fill another hole) Danys Baez Urbina Danny Graves Shawn Chacon(although i wouldnt recommend) I think a really good guy to target of them would be Baez... he is good and wouldnt cost the farm
  9. On the cubs message board it seemed like most of them blamed Derrek Lee for it, and i would tend to agree. Would i be mad if les say it happened to Konerko? Hell yeah i would but he probably wouldnt be able to make it home anyways . And in the end i would blame Konerko for not looking at the 3B coach that is what he's there for.
  10. While building up the surrounding area would help attendence I think by a bunch, Idonno if we would outdraw the cubbies unless they were like the royals bad and us being as good as we are now. That being said, look what happened when they built up woodfield, that whole place was dead and now its a hot spot to hang out and see movies and go to that awesome ice cream store... so building up the surrounding area is very important.
  11. Im still hoping we trade Contreras for one of the many 1B prospects... Kotchman, Gonzalez, Howard....
  12. just want to add a couple of thoughts: Buehrle and Garland both started their major league careers in the bullpen didnt they. So far both of them worked out and I think B-Mac will be better right away unlike Garland because B-Mac has more control and seems to be a very confident person. 2nd, I think B-Mac might get roughed up his next start in Texas. Down there its an extreme hitters park and the rangers roughed him up pretty bad in spring training the 2nd time they saw him. If he pitches against them like he pitched today he has made a believer out of me for sure. Also Walker for sure will be sent down to make room for Frank... I dont think you can really tell who else will go down but I think B-Mac probably will when El Duque comes back
  13. I thought when we brought Viz in one of his strong points was to be able to get lefties out..... instead he is Mike Jackson reborn.
  14. I think the cubs top prospect Felix Pie also hit a HR in this game... that guy is going to be special.
  15. Idonno if its everyone being down on him or everyone being so high on Garland and Buehrle... and than El Duque everyone was loving too b4 that last outing. Also I think Contreras has been one of our better starters just bad luck. In my Opinion he could easily be 5-0... I think he would of won that royals game and than Shingo blew the save accounting for 2 more wins. Than he pitched well enough to win the orioles game 2 just bad luck.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 23, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) I'm assuming your referring to Heath Phillips in AAA? However I'd say Tracey would be the better option. yeah i meant Heath Phillips being in AAA and if a starter goes down him being called up.... I guess Tracey could be that guy too, but he really didnt impress me in spring training(which really doesnt mean much). I think his future could be in the bullpen.
  17. I know a lot of players dont enjoy it but i personally love it. I like seeing us playing teams that you normally only get to watch on TV and not see us play against.... It does take a little away from the WS since a lot of the teams might of seen each other before but i like it... im really looking forward to the padres series. Also while im not one of those fans who hates the cubs with a passion, I still love beating them more than any other team besides the twins...
  18. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ May 23, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) I thought McCarthy looked really good today and I didn't want to see Ozzie pull him. But one thing raised a concern and I haven't read all of the threads so this may have already been discussed. He got a lot of fly ball outs and very few groundouts. Will he be able to get away with this back at US Cellular? Well Wrigley is as good of a hitters park as US Cellular so yes... also add in the fact the wind is blowing out makes Wrigley even a better hitters park.
  19. Isnt Kevin Millar a f/a to be... i wouldnt mind us pursuing him... I like Konerko and all but he isnt that good and I dont think he is worth the money he will want 8-10 million. Guys I think we should let go after this season: Everett, Timo, Shingo, Vizcaino, Contreras, and Dye Some of those would have to be in trades and i guess if Dye can play 1B he could stay there.. But I think B-Mac and Brian Anderson should both be starters next year. Also anyone know Sean Casey's contract status... because I think he would be the perfect 1B for us. C: AJ Pieryznski 1B: Durazo/Millar/Casey 2B: Tadahito Iguchi SS: Juan Uribe 3B: Joe Crede(Fields isnt ready yet, although wouldnt mind signed a veteran to a 1 year deal) LF: Scott Podsenick CF: Brian Anderson RF: Aaron Rowand DH: Frank Thomas Starters: 1: Mark Buehrle 2: Freddy Garcia 3: Jon Garland 4: B-Mac 5: El Duque emergency starter: Heath Miller(would be in AAA) bullpen: Politte, Hermy, Marte, Cotts, Baj, ??? basicly we should be shopping for a new 1B and maybe a bullpen arm or two this off-season.
  20. If he can make the rotation next year its going to be very fun to watch out pitchers. While they been good this year Contreras and El Duque are very hard to watch. B-Mac, Garland, and Buehrle though since dont give up all those walks are a joy to watch. Garcia is in the middle to me.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 22, 2005 -> 06:48 AM) Like's already been said there is no way that Milwaukee would have taken pauly so it's a moot point. did i say they would? im just saying that of the two who seemed like they were on the trading block... Carlos has done better than Konerko.... also we might of been able to traded Konerko for maybe Juan Pierre before Marlins signed Delgado... but in the end we are all 31-12 so good luck Carlos but i guess we dont need you..
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 22, 2005 -> 06:23 AM) Right now I'd venture to say Scott>>>>Carlos, if Carlos hits 30 plus bombs and drives in over 100, scott is still much more valuable then Carlos. Players like Scott just aren't around anymore, he's very special. yes but also Carlos >> Konerko... still we made out like theives on the deal, Pods has been amazing and we got other key players because of it.. but even though Carlos avg. been down he has made the brewers a bigger threat offensively... its nice to see a trade where both sides win.
  23. damn the cubs team seems a bit stacked doesnt it... thats not good... future sox killers.... also that felix pie looks to be a gamer by staying in the game even after being beamed in the head.
  24. not sure on this but according to northsidebaseball.com game over Barons lose in the 15th... Felix Pie drove in the winning RBI barely missing a grandslam.
  25. It was really hard to see him go, but like its been said Pods has been great and so has AJ and iguchi and everything. Although ill always forever be a Carlos Lee fan.
